@@WisconsinCentralProductions no it isn't -if that is a fly tipping vehicle, then is every Ford F 150 and Toyota Utility on the road a fly tipper? This video was to send a message - and a fuxking poor message at that the message is Watford Borough Council are a bunch of court appointed thugs and this is them showing how tough they are, I bet they wouldn't have done this if it was one of the government's preferred ethnic minorities, like Asians or Roma. It is just a pity when Watford Council commit crimes we don't trash the councilors cars and those of the executives, that would be justice.
You've got to be kidding. They just crushed at least £600 of headlight units and front end bright work, not to mention straight body panels, wheels, tyres, interior and possibly good running train to prove a point...? Strip the bastard of everything you can sell, make the vehicle economical to crush. This madness saw the first bite of the claw destroy £800 of windscreen, every part resold gets ploughed back into the local economy.
Have you ever known a council do things properly or legally - just look at the state of the streets, most of the sh!t on the streets is down to councils not fly tippers. The worst example are council "tradesman" who repair social housing and leave the building waste in the street, because the "tradies" think they are above clearing up their own waste, and think they should leave it to a dedicated council waste operative, who invariably is on his perpetual sick day.
I don't understand why it is not sold on for at least the good parts. It's not like it will break the heart of a lad watching his prized street-mod get crushed. This is what is done in Australia with "hoon cars".
Arden Tizzy I couldnt agree more, its all just to 'make the point' but means a perfectly good van is destroyed, when it should have been sold and the funds put back into council tax to pay for the clear up. Instead honest tax payers will once again foot the bill. Wasteful society we live in thats full of jobsworths. The mentality in the UK gets worse by the day.
Agreed. Potential fly tippers can always buy another truck on the open market. They wouldn't necessarily buy this one! Why not break it for spares? The prat ,from the council saying that it would cost money to make it roadworthy then sell it as un roadworthy for repair.
You Don't get my point or that of the others. This in no way will stop or even discourage fly tipping. Confiscate it yes but scrapping it fulfills no useful purpose.
i see your point, but i does send out a strong message, i would like to see these clowns who think it ok to tip rubbish where they want should be shamed. Put them in loud colour work wear labeled fly tippers then clean up their mess. This kind of action would be a wake up call do you agree ?
You would have thought it would have been better to give away to a small business to get them going...but this is the way the council work pat on the back to them

How about confiscating the vehicle, giving it a new registration and giving it to some charity that could really use it? On top of that they could inform the offender what they did with the vehicle? I also think that the fines for wilfully polluting the environment are way too low. Let's start at a £1000 fine for every pound of garbage they ditched.

The council have money to waste if they'd rather crush a truck rather than break it for spares and they moan they haven't got much of a budget to spend, how wasteful!
I'm against fly tipping but this won't stop it,they will just get another one...and it's a waste of a good vehicle,at least give it to a scrap dealer, monitored for spares only, or sell it,some of the profit used to pay for filling THE BLOODY POT HOLES that wreck cars suspension and cause accidents. Looks like a road worthy vehicle so why not auction it off and put a few quid back into the public purse. The fly tipper can always buy another van, bastard should have been sent to prison and after his release forced to do 500 hours community service cleaning up other fly tippers mess.

But instead THIS WAS NOT DONE & IT WAS CRUSHED WITH THE WHEELS STILL ON THE VEHICLE WHICH IS ILLEGAL & IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE WHY DID YOU ALLOW SUCH A SERIOUS BREACH OF PROCEDURE TO TAKE PLACE? IF THE AUTHORITIES FIND OUT THAT VEHICLES ARE BEING CRUSHED ILLEGALLY WITHOUT DEPOLLUTION WITH WHEELS STILL ON THE VEHICLE FMS COULD BE FACING A HEAVY FINE AS IT IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT TO REMOVE THE WHEELS FROM ALL VEHICLES BEFORE CRUSHING.
Convicted of 9 fly tipping offences and gets his 500 quid van confiscated. Yippee And quite clearly the tyres were not removed and we did not see it being crushed. Total bollox
What a waste of natural resourses. Why don't they make the punishment fit the crime. Put these flytippers in an eco chain-gang collecting rubbish + recycling it - all at their own expense. And maybe give their vehicle to someone who got top marks in their driving test ?

The tide is slowly turning on council jobsworths. They are slowing learning they are not the masters, but the servants and they do as WE tell them, not what they think they can get away with.
Okay, so the modern world is paranoid about wasting resources. But catch one shifty bugger in a perfectly good pick-up and it's confiscated and - fill in the blank - is it sold? Is it sent to a needy country? Is it used to help learning drivers? Is it donated to a starting business? No, it gets stripped and shredded, and sits in a hole for the rest of time. They're so clever in the councils, if you took your truck to be scrapped, the scrap yard gives YOU money. If the councils take a truck to be scrapped they charge the council money. But please note that this is not generally known so let's keep it our secret eh.
He should also lose his driving licence for life. this means the only vehicle he can sit in will be as a passenger.................it's time the law got really tough specially on these young people parking in the countryside and dumping all their fast foods cartons out of the window after finishing eating the contents.......... that another bunch that needs to be tackled.

@@charlotteclarke4665 Not true. I have a '92 Mitsubishi delica that runs like new, I don't have to worry about finding spare parts for it because it rarely has problems. Toyota and Nissan are pretty much built to similar standards, especially those built in the 90's like mine. The down side is it is a diesel so soon I'm going have to find a modern, likely Chinese made LPG engine to keep it legal.
Destruction of resources does not benefit anybody ... unless you are at war against the People and the Public and the Country. For the vehicle to be seized and sold leaves it as a resource within the community. The rationale given for destruction is bogus ... and everybody who gives it any thought will understand. It destroys the credibility of government and of authority. That is a bad bargain. Removing it from 'criminal use'

and suppose the bank has a lien on the vehicle from lending the owner the money to BUY the vehicle to begin with, and the owner then stops paying on a vehicle he no longer has, then the bank has NO security for that loan! or perhaps reattaches that loan onto the owners house or other vehicles, perhaps, but he might not have any other assets which puts the bank in limbo.
Crushing a working vehicle is very environmentally friendly. Then again, seems to be the same logic as the WEF ordering our MPs to replace perfectly good cars with electric. Seems illogical until you understand who they are.
I'm sure a local charity could have used it or strip it for parts. Shows how hypocritical the so called environmentalists at the local council are if they can destroy useful equipment for a ego trip. Crushing it will not stop the ex-owner, they will not care whatever happens to it & just get another one.
