Today I take you for a new tour of Watkins Books store on Cecil's Court in London.
I was lucky enough to visit three times this Christmas, and managed to get some footage for you to enjoy during my first visit.

Watkins Books is a 20 minute walk from where I live. I used to get my tarot fix here. Haven't actually bought many esoteric books here except for Chaos Protocols plus Liber Null and Psychonaut. If you are in London then Treadwell's on Store Street is also worth a visit - another excellent selection of esoteric books including stuff not carried by Watkins. 10 minute walk from Treadwell's is the Atlantis Bookshop in Museum Street. Another amazing occult bookshop that was frequented by Crowley. Gardener began Wicca in the basement here! All three bookshops are within easy walking distance of each other - I call it the Occult Triangle.

There are not many things that would excite me these days, but amongst them are 3 things: 1. Getting notifications about having a new video uploaded in the Foolish Fish channel 2. Actually leaving all the problems of the world and my life behind and enjoying a few minutes of great content with the voice overs or actual voices from the video 3. Immersing myself in the great content of these great videos that are made from the interesting mind of an occultist and on top of that, from what I can guess, a great person that makes them And actually the fourth one: 4. The pleasure of reading my interactions with the man who so generously offers his time and attention to his audience here, despite the fact that he has no obligation to do so... Man, u are an inspiration and I hope that every day you get back tenfold the generosity that you offer to the world Best of Luck to you man❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻

Reached my 50th year of shopping at Watkins this year. The best cafe in London, Gaby's was just around the corner . That's gone but Watkins continues to flourish.

That was your most intriguing Watkins visit yet. Thank you! If there had been anyplace like that, back in the early 1960's when I was hungering for such materials and there was practically nothing to which I had access, upon walking into such a shop, I swear, I would have fainted dead away! 🙏🏻

Isn't it a gem? I'm very aware of how privileged we are as a community to have access to such a wealth of books. There is variability in quality of course, but there's really just so much good stuff that the bad stuff is almost worth putting up with!

I'll never forgive myself for not making the trip to Watkins when I was in London! Treadwell's was great but the shop is small enough that I feel it would be awkward to spend two hours combing through all the books.

Same, from Wisconsin, we've got occult shops in the cites but NOTHING on this level. Even the best places I've been to in NOLA don't have this selection. But its cool they've got an online store! I'll def be checking that out :)

What a privilege being able to visit one of the main esoteric and occult existing bookshops even more so in London. FF, I guess you had your Diagon Alley moment, hadn't you?

On the real real. I kick myself for not stopping by Watkins when I was in London in January of 2019. I stayed in Earl’s Court, stopped by the Philharmonic, London Theatre, and the surrounding area, a quaint small bookstore, saw the intelligence services building up close Mi6/sis building, all them museums in Museum Street, saw a film in Bafta with my girl at the time, stopped by a skate park nearby by the river Thames, but silly me; I didn’t stop by Watkins…that would have been the hallmark, the cherry on the whip cream. On Gawd you got me a little envious and Gelly, @Foolish Fish +Foolish Fish, Wodea! Side note: will definitely get that 600+ page treatment of Dennis Wheatley’s life now by Phil Baker - The Devil is a Gentleman, after seeing this video. :) thanks Foolish Fish.

There's a movie, "84 Charing Cross Road" true story about a 40+ year relationship with a NY writer seeking classic, inexpensive used books and an antiquarian London bookstore. It's one of my favorite movies. Couldn't help but notice the Watkins address, "Cecil Court, Charing Cross Road".

I asked for ‘self initiation in to the golden dawn’ in Wadkins. Didn’t have it. I got Trollrun instead. It’s very good, but I live in Iceland so I’m into Nordic stuff. They had both books on Icelandic sorcery though.

I saw so many books on king Arthur..I'm curious is it common knowledge that the Arthurian legend is in actuality a mystery school teaching device? All the elements are there.. A boy who is a king but doesn't know he's a king..every bit of it a mystery school right down to the 12 knights of the roundtable which of course is symbolic of the zodiac much like the 12 apostles, 12 tribe's of isreal, 12 imans, 12 rishis etc etc.. Great video wish they had something like that by me

I was reading one of those books, "Nameless Cults" by Robert E. Howard, in a store called Barnes & Noble. It is fiction. Nevertheless, I was harassed and threatened right out of the store. Yes, modern day people are still extremely shallow.

I tend to find myself only believing in magic when I need it, otherwise in my day to day I wonder if it’s real, which arguably perhaps means I don’t believe in it? Or maybe not strong enough? I’ve just never known what to do with magic. Which I know is a weird thing to say, but unless I need it like for a spell (which don’t all turn out successful even if it’s a repeat of the same spell I’ve done before that has been madly successful in the past at the s right time on the same day of the week) I don’t know what to do with it and it has me quite baffled. I don’t know if anyone else experiences this with magic or if it’s just me. I’ve always loved things but have never been so in love that I want to throw myself into it like having shelves of books about the topic etc. Even as a child, I adored Harry Potter (like many people) I mean I wouldn’t apparently eat my food as a baby if it wasn’t on (according to my mother) but I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan, I haven’t even read the books. I’ve never quite felt like anything was for me, always felt like I was sitting on the edge of life or on the outside watching everyone while at the same time floating through it, wondering where I existed in the world as a person, not really like what my purpose is, but what I’m doing here. And I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I’ve not met anyone like me yet, people either love something and do it, or they do something, I feel like I do nothing but watch. Sigh. I wish I could find something that I was REALLY into and love it like you love esoteric books. I assume it must make you very happy.

I think this is a natural stance if you haven't experienced a lot of it, consistently over a sustained amount of time. Nothing wrong with a healthy dose of skepticism except when it gets in the way of your magick 😜

Hi fellow fish.. I'm hoping someone can help me. Not too long ago Denis (I believe) mentioned a book having to do with the evolution of the daemon into the demon . I've looked through a few videos but can't seem to find it.. Does anyone happen to remember the title of the book (or even know what I'm talking about lol) Any help is greatly appreciated!

@@FoolishFishBooks No sadly I'm very familiar with those (except for stellas daemonum which looks very interesting actually) I'm wondering if perhaps I read the description on either miscatonicks site or another publishers website especially since it's not ringing a bell when you.lol it's been driving me bonkers trying to find it as I've always been fascinated with the lore surrounding the daemon as a benevolent beneficial entity and this book seemed to be a history of sorts on the topic.

" Michael Psellus on the Operation of Daemons: De Operatione Daemonum" which was edited by the good Dr Skinner. Looks really interesting 😊
