Excellent Adapter, Perfect Fit for My Case.
It is an excellent adapter that perfectly solved my problem to convert between two sizes. It seems perfectly constructed, was a perfect fit, and didn't leak at all. You can use it for just its threaded ends (3/8-inch thread to 1/2-in thread) or you can optionally use the 3/8-inch compression fitting nut. Remember to use teflon tape on the threads like any plumbing situation. And you might need to replace worn out washers if existing connections use them (I used the Danco 80817 Washer Assortment). I really couldn't expect more out of this.
I needed it to convert a new 3/8-inch threaded faucet hose to my existing 1/2-inch threaded shutoff. The alternative was to replace my shutoff, which is a lot more work and risk. I was so happy to find this adapter to just connect the new faucet to the existing shutoff. It perfectly solved my problem.
Product Title: Watts LFA124 Compression Male Adapter, 3/8-Inch OD x 1/2-Inch MIP
Features: Lead-free brass, Unique Ander-Lign compression fitting,
Model: LFA-124, LFA124

Your video may be 7 yo, but it saved me time and hassle today! I was told I'd have to change out the valves in my manufactured home. This works like a charm ✌🏿

Thank you so much worked great I have a newer home that has the Accor 1000 psi plastic piping throughout the house. The valves are also plastic and have the faucet hose already attached (Faucet and hose are one piece). The guys at Home Depot and Lowe's had never seen Accor products before and we found out its for commercial sale only. Your solution was awesome thanks again.

Thanks, just what I needed, searching all over, then got this, one search, boom, $10 on amazon! I need one for different reasons, the toilet is too tight against the wall and I can't reach the refill valve without pulling the toilet out!

I would not be leaving that old hard flex under my sink, just replace that old junk, or you are looking for leaks. Thanks for the video.

Your video would be good if you actually showed the actual process of connecting the 3 items together. For a weekend warrior like me, it didn't show me what I needed to see.

Any tips on how to connect a new 15mm tap(faucet)to an old 22mm nut. I cannot use flexipipe as there’s no room. I have to screw the new tap DIRECTLY on to the old 22mm nut.

How do you know what size fittings you have? I still don't know if threaded male sizing is based on ID or OD.

I just got a new faucet that requires this exact size conversion, but this product is not available anywhere online that I can find for a reasonable price. Any currently available inexpensive options?

Heck yea. Freakin youtube has a video for every darn thing in the world. This is exactly my scenario. Did you put teflon on the 3/8 side too? Thanks for this. And why all the thumbs down?
@harveyshen

There's no need to use pipe compound or Teflon tape to help make the seal on the threads, because the rubber/neoprene cone will make the seal instead against the inside rim of the threads that you are attaching the connector onto.
@gregdubya1993

No seal tape on compression threads ever.
@kingbutterturtle

I'm pretty sure this is my situation but I didn't realize that the faucet supply line was compression. This fitting is compression threads on the supply line side and regular MPT threads on the 1/2" side going to the wall, right? Also, you just didn't use those other two pieces that came with it, correct?

How is the little piece in the middle connected if at all? You showed 3 pieces to the connector.

Those look like gas pipe fittings you would see on your stove or laundry from the water line to where you are attaching it (the old part). Why not just take those off and connect it directly to the part that turns on and off the water near the wall? I guess as long as it is stainless steel (the flexible gas pipe part) it is probably fine. Good solution overall.

Tiger, why not just replace the entire line to compensate for the 1/2" or just replace the shut off? I know your dealing with MIP and compression but this is hack work and not good long term and should only be used for emergencies.
@reviewsbytiger
@reviewsbytiger 8 лет назад
That is the ideal solution to replace shutoffs. However in my experience, anytime we mess with plumbing connections, there are often new discoveries and issues. Such as having to cut off the old shutoff and having little room left to work with. Also, hiring a plumber is quite expensive in my area, if you can even get them to come for a small job. Given a plumber (who we didn't hire or research) actually made the recommendation, and it worked, this was good enough for now.
@jandestiny626
@jandestiny626 Год назад
why not place the adapter directly on the angle valve?
@reviewsbytiger
@reviewsbytiger Год назад
In my case, the line from the shutoff was permanently attached, and this was the first connection point without replacing the whole shutoff itself. I didn't want to open another project to replace the shutoff. It is a crappy shutoff though to not be more modular.

Hi. I really don't think I would be able to help you based on a picture. However, the same picture might really help if you walked into a hardware store and showed someone in the pluming department. Of course if you are willing to hire a plumber, they would be the best.

That adapter will not fit on the faucet supply line. The supply line has a straight the ad not a pipe thread.

Help! I need to connect a 3/8 in male compression end to a 1/2 threaded pipe fitting. In other words I need this in female 3/8 in compression x female 1/2 in threaded pipe fitting. This is to connect a 3-way quarter turn off valve to quarter turn shut off valve that will not come off without causing extensive damage and repairs. (in other words, I want to connect a shut off valve to a shut off valve) Is that even possible? Can someone point me in the right direction and give me the correct terminology. I also need to extend my 3/8 in dishwasher and 1/4 in ice make supply lines and need the correct terminology for the piece that connects two female compression ends.... Thank you in advance! For those of you who want to troll and call me stupid...I do not care. I am trying to make the best of a not ideal situation. It is ok. Your vid gave me the answer. I can use a 3/8 supply line, connect it to the current shut off valve, connect this adapter, then connect the new 3-way shut-off valve...basically I am extending my current pipe...is it ideal no, will it do what I need it to do yes, maybe, hopefully...Am I a plumber, not even close and not trying to be one either...just trying to make it work somehow.

Compression threads and pipe threads are not compatible.
@reviewsbytiger
@reviewsbytiger 9 лет назад
What would I expect to see that would indicate if there was a problem? It worked perfectly for me. A plumber shopping at Lowes helped suggest this exactly solution. A lot of homes in our area have the old size shutoffs, so this seems to be a frequent solution to convert without installing entirely new shutoffs.

Alan Ullmer exactly, this video is a great how NOT to do it. Im actually glad it was posted, or I may have ended up doing the same exact thing. Had no idea compression threads were different from the pipe threads. Glad I know

Should have replaced the shutoff valve this one has corrugated supply tube which will fail and are no longer being made.

Show the old faucet, show new faucet, show connector, show connector a new brass fitting, repeat. But, never show the installation of the fitting. I have installed dozens of compression fittings that all use a “Ferrule” or “Olive” as caller in Great Britten. But I have never seen these just to join to aluminum pipes. Nothing fancy! Even the manufacture simply shows “Insert pipe, tighten. Now your new faucet supply line has a center flange w/rubber. The old 3/4” fitting has rubber as you pointed out, this is fine to achieve a leak proof connection. I do not feel comfortable with this 3 piece nut and centering guide w/bell end. I just wish if you don’t own a tripod, then someone holding the camera would have been helpful. I was waiting, waiting and done. Nothing to see here, move along. No videos show this type, instead a compression Ferrule. I hate this change as it says compression on package and tiny paper with 5 type of use, as long as I purchase a microscope to read. Wish you actually showed the installation. I would just take these back.
