I dont know bout this video bro.... you begin with the 2 least important features of any vst tho. I mean scalability is nice and format support also but these should be last on the list..... also the CR8 can do chops easy man so its best to do a manual read before doing reviews.
Appreciate the feedback brother. I know you can duplicate the sample then adjust your loop points that way in CR8 but I wouldn’t necessarily call that easy chopping. The kind of chopping I was talking about was how seem less quick sampler and serato sample are at chopping. Just set your points and your off. No need to duplicate and go to a different window to set your chop. As far as scalability that important to us blind folks so that’s relative I know. The format support well I can respect that. With all the work arounds. I can see how that’s may not be super important to some.
Logics Samples wins since it can easily load autosampled instruments :) For chops I woudl use Logics DMD sicne there you can have for each slice its own Filter and envelope and output ion logic
Right on. Bitwig is the king for that. Drum machine in bitwig is pretty ugly lol. But very powerful and easy to use. You can do all sorts of crazy things with it.
so bummed how badly Serato is supporting the VST. Over a year no update at all, then finally the (supposed) Apple silicon native support update hit a few weeks ago -> and it still won't work natively in Logic! It's not exactly a cheap plugin, so that kind of support experience really sucks! Unfortunately, when it comes to wanting to do sth creative where you pitch and stretch your chops individually, QS can't keep up with Serato.
I agree. Had high hopes for Sample. But very lackluster support. Still a beast of a plug-in. But what good is it if you can’t use it on silicon support. Hopefully Logic will update the QS and have all the fancy bells and whistles like Sample has.
@@ugamer7845I can respectful that. As an instrument it’s pretty cool. But for straight chopping it’s kinda meh. Not as quick to chop things without duplicating and haven’t to go to another window within the gui.
I was checking out Momentum Sampler (free by the way) from Big Fish Audio and I went to drop an mp3 file into it and the sampler wouldn't accept the file format, so I uninstalled it
Serato is good for finding happy accident samples but is not really for the same use for me (I use Serato for it's pitching and stretching capabilities). Ableton Simpler, Logic Quick and Reason's new Sampler are all similar. CR8 is ok but I won't be using it much. That being said, it has a great wav library that can be dragged into one of the others so is win win all round. Good review and subbed.
Thanks !!! I agree. Serato has its strengths for sure. And I use it time to time. But since Quick Sampler came out. Well quick sampler is just quick. Never use Ableton Simpler all that much. But I hear it’s a beast. Cr8 I feel is good for sound design. But for chopping not so much.
good idea for a video...i think ur math was off lol...u should prolly keep score on paper next time...but based on what you described are your most important features, and you say none of the above qualify,....you been lookin in the wrong places....what you want is best covered by liveslice which has been around for like 15 yrs....the modern incarnation is HY-slicer....both affordable, do all you want, can go deep down the rabbit hole if you want;...or just keep hittin the random ALL button til you find something you like....mimic also does all you want;...and momentum does what you want for free even, you just have to have ads scroll on the bottom of the gui for their sample packs...i always recommend mastering what you have, and stock in most DAWs is more than good enough nowadays....but if you wanna do another shootout, there's some more ammo
For real lol I was struggling after awhile with the math. Lol lost track lol thanks for the info. I’ve seen HY Slicer and the other as you mentioned. Just haven’t spent time with them. But I think I will and revisit, especially with Plugin Alliance coming soon with a dope looking sampler.
@@Jamusictv good lookin out...i hadn't heard of the PA one...just like LANDR chromatic, they are all copying arcade...the PA requires you be online...is trying to sell you sample packs, and the fx are stripped down versions of their other plugs, to make you want to buy them too...smart really cant blame em...that looks like the business model to survive the market right now...and the timestretch is from brainworx, which don't have a TS track record that I know of, so quality cant be taken for granted...we'll see
Facts. Everyone is jumping on that Arcade workflow. Arcade is winning right now. Didn’t know Landr made a sampler. Yeah PA requires to be online. I have a subscription to their Mega bundle. So I believe I always have to be online. Which sucks if I travel with a laptop. But they do take care of the end user and make sick ass plug-ins. So I sacrifice. But let’s see what they do with that sampler coming soon.
Deal breaker, everyone that have a Mac dont use Logic. Quick sampler is a sampler that took Apple years to make. Serato sampler works on everything and in any DAW. Serato tap to slice is MPCish and its "in key fuction kills the comp.
I think plenty of people still use logic. But I agree logic has taken forever to make the simplest upgrades. And has been passed by by many other DAWS that have had sample features.
