This is a universal docking station which supports most laptops with USB ports. USB 3.0 port on laptop is highly recommended in the manual for performance and compatibility but some laptops with USB 2.0 might work.
The dock has 6 USB ports ( 2 USB 3.0 & 4 USB 2.0 ) and it has its own power adapter (12V/2A). This means that the power of the USB ports is supplied through the power adapter instead of using power from laptop so I don't have to worry about connected devices being under powered. One of the USB 3.0 port supports charging even when no laptop is connected, which is pretty handy to use it to charge smartphones or power banks. There are 2 display output on the dock - DVI and HDMI. It also comes with a DVI to VGA adapter so it has no problem connecting to older monitors with only VGA. LAN port is supported too for Ethernet connection.
I have tried it with my older laptop on Win XP (USB 2.0) and newer laptop on Windows 10 (USB 3.0). The dock station works on both of them and windows is able to find required driver from Windows update (for offline use, the driver is on the included CD). The initial installation of driver took about 3 minutes and after that everything is working pretty well. However, I did notice the performance on my older laptop with USB 2.0 is not as good as on new laptop (USB 3.0) with the dock when playing HD movies. It has no problem with daily tasks and web browsing though. On my new laptop with USB 3.0, I was able to do work, browse web, and watch HD youtube video at the same time on 3 monitors. This dock really helps when I'm try to multi-task.
** Windows XP 64 bit and Server Editions are not supported
