He didnt try to pretend he was freestyling the red verse.. He said at the end of it "I couldnt remember it" clearly refering to the fact he was repeating a written verse..
Some is written, some is freestyle: you aren't a genius for "catching" him. He seems like the kind of artist who wouldn't deny it if you asked him politely. I like this guy because he doesn't take himself too seriously. I would like to see him get some recognition (or at least enough notice to make a living off of). Keep it up!
Damn... I never thought id hear Wax mess up.. he said "ima play my part and play my part" instead of "so i toke it to heart and played my part" Its all good!!! still dope !!!!!
Wax is a lyrical genius, I wish i could think as fast as he does! Why isn't he at the top with em and wayne, this kills every song wayne has ever made.
The first beat is from the video "Wax spits randomly", originally what is over a Q-Tip beat, then when Halftime comes on, he freestyles for a bit, then he does Red over Nas is Like which continues until around 6:00, then its straight freestyles for the rest. Big Wax for life!!
anyone else notice that this is the same rap that wax spit 4 years ago? dont wanna knock him or anything, i think wax is amazing. guess i have been listening to him for a long ass time
It means that the lyrics themselves don't have a particular style that they have to be rapped or spoken in, you can use the lyrics for any style or flow that you want and it will still be good.
Nah Mike he's totally correct. People are using the term Freestyle for rap incorrectly these days. and Kev is actually a genius he constructs some incredibly versatile rhyme schemes and his flow is fucking ABNORMAL.
Oh definitely. I hope no one's getting things confused with my previous comments. I have so much respect for people like Wax and Herbal T and Dumb and Jin and Kanye used to do a really good job at it and Kendrick made a couple vids (even Lil B hehe) and etc. etc. the list goes on and on and it's a really beautiful thing to see what can come off the dome of all rappers. I just feel that even if things are written alot nowadays, it's okay. Whatever the artist wants to display is his choice. Art.
I'm sure he had a ton of these concepts in his head and by the time they came off of his brilliant dome piece they were ffinely fuckin polished, just enjoy raw talent people damn.
David Jovanovic Freestyle doesn't mean straight off the dome, it just means rapping about nothing in particular without a subject, so even if it is written doesn't mean it's not a freestyle.
The reason most people complain about if a freestyle is written, is because most people don't know that a freestyle originally was something a song written that didn't have a concept
The only written part was obviously "RED'' but the rest was off the dome. Ive been a fan for years never knew he could freestyle off the dome like that....dope.
Its half written, I’ve heard the first verse on “wax raps randomly” . He starts freestyling when he stutters on the red verse around 5:58 then mentions “spitting off the dome”. You can tell because there’s less story and more just rhyming to rhyme from that point
