It was a truly disgusting mess. I had two additional ones as well. 😖 With the cooler weather I’m able to get back to work winter prepping and leveling the populations.
Yes it was, and found one more after this. Total of three. Ugh. I've never had three before. One was the most I've had per year, and only a couple of times. I got the whammy this year. Thanks for watching.
Yes, not a good combination. And time consuming. I had two more like it. 😖. Still one I tossed the frames out on the ground I need to clean up. Found a queenless this weekend and got it taken care of. Still about ten more to check.
You have chickens what is the issue? the queen probably was at the end of her sperm supplies and was failing and they took over, chickens love them, so it isn't a complete loss and you get the gratification of watching them go to work.
Hey Bloke. The biggest problem for me is it takes more time to deal with and I don’t have much spare time. It was a truly disgusting mess. I had two additional in this same state that I discovered last week. With the cooler weather I’m able to get back to work winter prepping and leveling the populations.
Wow Darren that’s just horrible…the comb is what breaks my heart!😩Dennis said to tell you they were just making your hive a “propola” box now!! Now you’re fancy!! We had one this year that we lost and wax moth got it…just heartbreaking😤😡
It happens. I try to stay more on top of it, but was just too hot for me there for a couple weeks. It was a truly disgusting mess. I had two additional ones as well. 😖 With the cooler weather I’m able to get back to work winter prepping and leveling the populations.
@@JeromeBeeFarm yeah I get the HOT!! We had more “feels like” days over 100 by mid July than we had in the last 2 years combined! And it just got worse from there! Finally this week it has been “livable” with the highs in the mid 80’s for the next 10 days or so!! All you can do is, do what you can! Just be careful out there you know how easy it is to get “bear caught” as we call it when you have a heat stroke!
Lost my last 2 hives this week to same. Been fighting lung disease for last year and couldn't get out to inspect. Will try to start up again next spring depending on financial situation.
Hey JW. Yes they are disgusting creatures. Unfortunately I had two more like this. I caught another last weekend queenless and got it taken care of before the moths got to it. I’m enjoying this cooler weather!
Move the boxes to strong hives for protection. Add to single deep hives. Correct the queenless condition if possible. Usually that’s a reduction the hive down to one deep and add a queen. Population is key to protecting the hive.

This is by far the grossest video you have ever made! 🤢 The saving grace was the chicken buffet at the end. 😊 About how long do you figure it took for that disaster to happen? I certainly hope you don't find another one like that for a good long while! I'm sure it was heartbreaking. At least you were able to take such a disaster and turn it into a very good lesson!
