I started watching when he wasn’t talking in his vids

I watch each of your vids and instantly subbed while I was watching the first vid I recognized of you. Love the flair, humor and so on but even tho I really need to ask you to change one tiny thing: I fish most of my life (35+ years of 40) and just as long I watch folks doing the same mistake over and over again. Before touching any fish you MUST moisten the hand that´s gonna touch the creature else you will harm it by damaging it´s protective slime layer. This layer protects the fish from fungi f.e. and is very nessesary (essential) to it´s health. PLEASE take on the habit of moistening your hand (this goes without saying for any responsible fisherman and woman). I don´t get at all why so very few YT fishing folks (especially from the US) don´t do it. It´s just as important to this hobby as not littering or anything else that´s ment to keep the enviroment clean and healthy so those comming after us will still have fish to catch and a nature to enjoy and relax in. So PLEASE take on this habbit. Regards Smarty

Good-looking bait

I commented on an old video, but wanted to you to be aware of the following: in a uv box, heat can be for you or against you; different colors, when irradiated, produce different amounts of heat....sometimes you'll get browning because of it. So to even the field, you should determine a proper sized box for the wavelength of light and the number of baits inside. Put a fan in the box ( helps eliminate heat issues) and rotate the baits ( evens out all affects from your lamps). Doing this adds consistency and confidence.

Hot glue my man. It's a fly tyers best friend. Great for building up bodies on big streamers, or big damsel fly larva and yes, hellgrammites. Just be sure to wrap some thread around the shank so the glue has something w a little traction to bite on to. Really easy to add color. And even easier to fix your mistakes if you shape it wrong etc. Just a tip for making "micro fishing" baits. I like to use similar methods to catch bait for big brown trout and northern pike in the Connecticut River and surrounding areas in Vermont. Love your channel. Dude that's gotta be killer for trout..I used to tie flies when I was a kid and I tied a grab type fly like that and would kill the brook trout and brown trout on it..I'd tie them streamside and all these guys would come up to see what the heck I was using lol..

Lol. Sorry. I work in a machine shop and learned that when I was a young fella. If a said I was gonna lathe something, I'd get some rotten looks if not something thrown at me. Lol! Love the channel. That discomfort with tiny things indicates your natural scale. Some guys are 1/2', some are 1/4" or 1/8' others like machinists are .001" or .0001". You can learn to work smaller but if you press it too far you become inefficient. It's like knowing you can add a circuit to a breaker box if you had to but you'd be happier having an electrician do it.

Fun Fact......well not so fun for beekeepers.......Wax Worms are the larva of the wax moths.....which are a pest for bee hives. Typically a strong hive can keep the moths at bay.....but a weak hive can get overrun with moths and the worms chew thru the wax comb eating their way thru bee larva and leaving a silk web mess thru the hive. Consequently the beekeeper with speak many choice words upon the discovery of moths in the hive.

Start carving the wax worm cocoon 👍. Stinkbug lure (the ones that look like the alien bugs from Starship Troopers), lightning bug lure, water spider lure, ladybug 🐞 lure, June bug, small tadpole lure, spider looking cricket lure....

let me tell you exactly how to catch those chubs 1: make a super tiny bobber, like, as small as you can cast. it'd fine if that means vaguely round pice of wood with a tiny hole in it, with a tooth pick for a line stop 2: grab one of those fly hooks you have, the size you had is fine but if you can go smaller, do. im sure you have a scrap of wire somewhere, the individual mini strands of wire that were braided together to make speaker wire work well, collect it, and procure some orange thread 3: take all of these things to chelsey and the fly tying vise (i could be wrong about her name, my sincere appologies if i am) and have her do the following 3a: put the hook in the vise, load the bobbin with the orange thread, and then start the thread on the hook 3b: lay the wire along the hook shank, and take a single layer of touching thread wraps back to where the hook starts to bend 3c. take another single layer of touching thread wraps back up the hook to just behind the eye 3d; wrap the wire evenly up the orange thread body she's created candy-cane style. what this does is create the segmentation that insects have, as well as adding a tiny ammount of weight. 3e: take two thread wraps over the wire, two thread wraps under the wire (around only the bare hook shank) then one more over top. this doesn't seem like enough, but don't worry, we'll be addressing this 3f: wiggle the wire bak and forth until it breaks off just at the thread. take another wrap or two to lightly cover the butt of the wire, then tie a whip finish. the whip finish secures the thread, and acts as a wrap of thread to further secure the wire while adding minimal bulk. 4: go to that creek, attatch your bobber, and this fly, and then set this bobber to 1.5x the depth of the water (if a particular part is 12 inches deep, you want 18 inches of line) 5: cast this rig in to likeley spots, and and let it drift through. if there is too little or no current, a slow retrieve can impart the minimal movement 6: every time you either see the fly get eaten, or see the bobber do something, set the hook creek chubs destroy orange, i dont know what it is but i always seem to do best catching them with orange stuff anywho, that will work. if you want either you or chelsey can make other colours, too.

You don't even need bait to catch panfish. I used to put small pieces of leaves or grass on a #12 hook when I was a kid. Same with most fish. I've had bass hit bobbers before. Lures work because they have hooks and they are on the end of your line. The reason you think they catch fish is because what else do you use instead of bait. They only work because you use them. Hold up I think I hear Rapala knocking on my door.

Waxworm cocoons make HORRIBLE bait... trust me, I was broke and wanted to fish once, found a tin under the car seat that were all cocooned. Couldn’t even provoke a shoreline micro-sunfish cheater bite! And the moths they turn into are like 1/4 the size of the original critter... 😉
