After watching quite a few of your amazing videos, I've now found the purpose for so many of the materials I've hoarded without knowing why. Thank you for sharing your creativity and knowledge with us all in such a detailed manner.
The napkin makes great washi tape. Use a single layer napkin, wax it, then get some double sided tape layer it down in strips first before cutting the napkin in to washi tape. I make washi not just from napkin but from all sorts of papers including printed tracing paper. Try it it's is beautiful very addictive ❤
As well as napkins you can turn any waxed paper that is transparent into Washi tape I make all my washi tape now instead of buying it it just so unique & so addictive everyone please try it you will enjoy the process. Just like to say a BIG Thank You for your wonderful videos I've got some great ideas for my Forest Journal. I'm an artist but during lock down I had a go at making an mini photo album for my daughter now I'm so addicted to junk journaling I've been working on this forest journal for a good few months now so with watching your videos it has given me so many great ideas so I will be able to finish it now so keep your videos coming. Take care Chris xxxx❤️❤️❤️
I watched a woman make her own by laying strips of masking tape what ever width you like laid side by side on a sheet of baking paper, and then she painted and stenciled and stamped the strips. It looked beautiful and original. She said you keep the tapes on the baking paper that way the stickiness lasts on the masking tape if kept that way, and use as required.
Did you know you can make some amazing wraps for your foods by using fabric and bees wax? They are made exactly the same way but if you use bees wax they protect your food. You just can’t use them on meat. Great for bowl covers as well.
I've been binge watching your videos since I recently found you. Thanks for all the wonderful videos! I'm crafting again because I have been inspired by you! Really needed this right now. This video reminded me of a project I did when I was a child. I had big leaves that had dried. I put each one between sheets of wax paper & ironed them. I was able to store the leaves for a long time. I could handle & enjoy them. Thank you for bringing that memory back! 😊❤❤
Hello from Alabama, USA. I was watching Natasia from Treasure Books, and she was unboxing a Journal she purchased from you. Inside were a few sheets of waxed paper. I had never seen this before, so I had to come look for myself and low and behold just 5 days ago you demonstrated your process. I have already made my towel covered cardboard, ready to pick out papers. Thank you so much for sharing. I have subscribed and am looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Hello and welcome Karen! Thanks so much for a beautiful comment. I really appreciate it. I’m so glad that you liked the video and that you’re going to make some waxed paper. It so much fun! I’m so grateful to Natasa for that video flip through of my journal, she’s so kind. I love her channel and her tutorials. I love to share my creative process and it makes me really happy when it’s received well, so thank you again 😊
I tried to do waxing today. I tried parchment paper and freezing paper ( my paper stuck to the freezer paper) bad idea from me🤣. The parchment paper ( baking paper) doesn’t have a shinny side, my papers just didn’t look like yours. Any thoughts on any other type paper I can use? I love your videos!!
Fabulous tutorial, I have to have ago. As it happens I have a bag of bees wax, and did not know what to do with it. How does the paper feel a few weeks on, does it feel greasy or oily, did you add any of it to your journals? Thank you for another brilliant tutorial. I do watch a lot of your vids, whilst I am crafting. Cant comment as my hands are either gluey or covered in paint. lol xx
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. The paper feels waxy and keeps really well. I use it in my journals often. Sometimes I make little envelopes or glassine bags, cut flowers from it and similar. 😊
I never get tired of watching your tutorials, you're so creative and inventive, you're a superb artist. I love this, thank you for sharing this with us. I hope you're having a good week so far? Take care, and have fun. xx❤❤😊😊
Thanks for another great tutorial, I love in tropical North Queensland and I was wondering does anyone have any trouble with the papers melting in the heat, after you have used the in your artwork being journals, cards etc? Leonie
Found you from Natasha’s page, & love your ideas! Now, just a question, is this wax paper or parchment paper, or does it matter? (You said baking paper, so wasn’t sure cuz here baking paper is parchment paper, but I keep seeing wax paper in comments, so wanna get it right). Love your videos! So grateful that someone in the comments recommended using the old wax from their wax melts, I usually throw it away, once the smell is kinda gone, & I put a new one in, but now I’ll just use it for this, & save so much $$, such a great idea! Gained a subscriber forever!❤️
If you want to streamline this process, skip grating the wax. Just iron the paper until it's warm enough and then rub the wax over the sheet. Saves a lot of effort and you use only the amount of wax you need.
This is like therapy, it's so lovely, quiet, and constructive! Loving it.❤ Sometimes I'd like to preserve the appearance of the music or print or pattern on one piece, instead of seeing the same THROUGH the sheet, just waxing it to give it the velum-like look, so I'll choose those papers for single sides.
thanks Dragana, nice tutorial as always, cool technique shown in detail and with different materials, very useful. ❤️❤️🌷You always make me want to get to work, I finish watching your videos and I'm excited to try it myself. Thank you for the beauty you share and the positive energy you always radiate. Have a nice joyfull day
I was separating the plies of paper napkins while watching this 😅I have learned so much from your DIY processes and as I’m not as active now these beautiful processes are fun and calming. Thank you 🙏🏽 😊 You are wonderful.
These are gorgeous. My favorite was the blue printed page. I was thinking it could be written on with a gel pen. Great ideas, loved watching you. Thanks so much
I love this video but I would have to ge a cheap iron because I would not want to chance getting wax on any fabric. I really like the effect of wax on paper.I would like to try sometime. I'm busy right now slow stitching a journal right now. Thank you for the demo. 😊
36:10 that translucent envelope looks awesome. The whole video is actually awesome, so much potential. So far for making papers translucent I only tired baby oil. Thanks for such comprehensive and hands-on lesson. I am a bit sick at the moment with a cold but still totally energized by this video and will walk to the nearest store selling candles to pick some and try on my paper. I trust your comment that the iron is not too difficult to clean after such experiments (and if not - well, my crafts are much more important than my cloth, lets face it).
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I hope you feel better soon. Maybe some light crafting boosts your immune system. Crafts are definitely more important than clothes, I agree with you on that😊. Get well soon ❤️
I tried waxing cotton scraps for book cloth. I used a wax warmer from Aldi for scent ed wax to melt the wax and spread it with a silicone brush. Worked well, no gratingor cutting candles anymore. Planning to try with paper next.
I had to laugh when you said you don't use your iron for clothes. Lol I don't either! Lol Reminds me of when I was buying some large cake pans at the thrift store. Another shopper said "You must do a lot of baking! " I told her I don't bake any more....I use them in my garden for holding potted plants to water them. Lol It amazes me how these papers turned out translucent. So pretty! The butterfly looks great...like a vellum one. And the pink crumpled paper turned out gorgeous. We switched to flameless candles, but thankfully I kept some wax ones...now I'm really glad I did as I'll be trying this too! Thank you for showing us a great way to transform paper. Both your voice and your slight accent are very pleasant to listen to. Congrats on 30 yr. together! Hubby & I are coming up to 58.
Thank you so much Anne! Congratulations to you and your hubby, too. Wow 58 years together is amazing! I never liked ironing unless it's paper or craft related 🤣 I couldn't see the point, everything gets wrinkled quickly anyway so why waste time straightening it out 🤣
@@Saacibo Thanks! Doesn't time fly when we're having fun? Lol I agree...with the fabrics today, ironing isn't really necessary. There's more important things to iron, like wax onto paper! LOL 🤣
I can see that it would work that way, too. Thanks for sharing. I personally prefer not to have to many things to clean afterwards so I avoid using brushes and melting pots. 😊
Glad you liked the video! I usually go over an old cloth with steam on to clean the iron at the end. Any wax residue tends to stick to the cloth rather than hot iron 😊
Can you not just use waxed paper that you get in the grocery store vs shaving candles? Thanks for this inspiration! I am going to try some Perfect Pearls or other pigment powders with the wax; especially on the black cardstock
This is so cool! I will have to try this. Have you tried to wax tea, coffee, or Kool-aid stained papers? Would the stain lift off in the waxing? Would the stain burn when trying to wax?
I will for sure do this sometime soon. I use baby oil on printed images on regular copy paper and they turn out translucent almost like vellum, but this waxing looks very interesting as well.
I already commented on the paper which I love! I am just curious about how you speak English so well, with barely a trace of an accent?? Did you live in the U.S.? I lived in England but unfortunately not for long enough to pick up their beautiful accent! Just curious, I hope that you don’t mind! I think that you are fabulous and if you don’t want to answer, then I certainly wouldn’t want to pry!!💕💕
Thank you for the compliment. I don't mind answering. I love English, although it is not my native tongue, so I struggle sometimes. I hope it's not too apparent, thank God for video editing software 😆. I lived in Australia for 15 years, must've picked up the accent there. Now days I live in my hometown of Sarajevo, and I don't get to practice conversational English often unfortunately, apart from speaking in the videos I make. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it ❤️😊
Hi Dragana! I just love going through all your videos!! There's always something new to watch or revisit!! And every single one is enjoyable!!! Making this wax paper is so unique!! I gotta try it!! Thank you for your inspiration!!!! and for your many amazing videos from years back, too!! xx Lori
Hello Dragana, Those papers came out beautiful! I am going to try it with some of the papers I purchased from you. I still haven't decided how I am going to use the fabric bundle I purchased from you. It is so lovely, I want to save them for a special project. Be well! Thank you so much for sharing. Francine (from Chicago) ☺
Hello Francine, I'm so glad you liked the papers and fabric bundle. I love waxing digital papers, it makes them look older and I love that look. Thank you so much for watching and supporting me. ❤️❤️❤️
Great video! I've seen others put their hot page between two pieces of paper towel to soak up some of the wax. Doubling up the page is smart too!! Thank you!
@@Saacibo It reminds me of many years ago when I did batik for my A level art and I had to removed the wax from my batik. After dyeing different sections, it is sealed with wax and then further dyeing and waxing and so on. Then when complete, all the wax was removed with an iron and clear newsprint and news paper
Wow, that sounds so interesting and I think that I’d like to try it some day. I haven’t tried that technique but it sounds amazing. Thank you for bringing it up to my attention 😍
I tried this and couldn’t stop. I was going to walk little dog and she gave up me and went to sleep!! I learned what I could do with one sided scrapbook paper. Thank you for sharing this video!
Deborah, you’re most welcome! It is addictive isn’t it. I usually stop when my legs get sore from standing too long 😆. Like you said, it’s great for one sided papers, really quick fix. I feel bad for the little dog, at least he or she got a good nap😍
It’s been 2 years since I’ve recorded this video and I still have some of these papers. I haven’t noticed any pieces falling off. Some cracks might appear when you fold these papers. 😊
