My reservations are all because of Eberflus. You know how the Bears had a 3-game streak in '22 where they led the league in offense? They had a 5-game one in '23 as well. Right after they acquired Sweat & a new DC. So Eberflus who boasts about deciding what plays to limit the offense to was too busy to meddle in it for those 5 weeks. So all of the games Getsy called with little or no interference from Eberflus are all 100% better than _all_ the games where he did? *Plus* Eberflus *cancelled* all the plays that improved the offense _twice!!_ *Then he fired Getsy?* For what, his success? There are some of possibilities here. First is yeah, guys in charge often resent the eff out of the success of their subordinates. Another is 'Flus is a micro-manager & when he sees things working he has to undo them. Lastly, they made it clear they wanted Fields out & sabotaged him. These aren't necessarily mutually exclusive possibilities. I just don't see one that bodes well for Williams. He has an identical skill set to Fields only is a less consistently accurate passer & slightly weaker rusher. But since Eberflus almost never called for QB rushes, that 2nd thing shouldn't be a concern.
@@ChewsCarefully I agree with everything regarding Flus potentially costing this team games, but we don't see eye to eye on Williams & Fields. I think Williams is already a much better passer and will continue to grow in that area!
Finally someone who agrees with me about JJ I think he'll be fine but he very much was the product of an elite Michigan team where he didn't really have to do anything and at best he'll probably win you a playoff game here and there but he probably unless you get the 49ers weapons+Ravens Defense isn't going to win you a superbowl
Williams hasn't proven anything in college in a weaker pac 12 conference. I don't think USC even won their conference with him as qb. He has more to prove than fields did, and with the bear's coaching staff... I don't see them passing Minnesota. JJ at least won the big 10 twice and has a national championship to his name. As a UM fan I'm biased, but the results speak for themselves. Can you really put a qb that plays sub par conference games, can't win their conference nor goes to the college playoffs over a national championship qb even if he is just a game manager? JJ operated in a pro style offense and not a college offense that doesn't translate to the NFL well (look at all those former high slinging OSU qb's lighting it up in the league.... oh wait... I just don't see the hype in Williams nor do I have any faith in the bears coaching staff. 4) bears 3) vikings 2) packers 1) lions.
