Do the people of Wayanad look at Rahul Gandhi as their PM candidate? Is their anger that he doesn’t visit the Lok Sabha constituency enough? Will be as easy a win for Gandhi as 2019 or can this constituency also go the Amethi way?
Newslaundry’s Manisha Pande and The News Minute’s Dhanya Rajendran travel to Wayanad in northern Kerala to look at the bitter battle between the Left and Congress, who have been trading allegations against each other of being the ‘B-Team’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Manisha and Dhanya also speak to two candidates from Wayanad - CPI’s Annie Raja and BJP’s K Surendran - and follow their campaign. The two sit down at Calicut’s famous restaurant Paragon to discuss food politics in a state where beef and boeuf are very much part of everyday cuisine. Finally, they also speak to people to ask them what their issues are in this election.

@@Maikashmiri I'm not here to defend BJP or Congress. In India, all the elections are fought in one name. Every time it is in the name of the prime minister. In Congress era, it used to be Nehru ji, Indra ji, Rajeev Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi. Now is the same case with Narendra Modi.

The leader of any particular constituency should talk about the developments they’ve done or going to do not just getting over with saying the name Modi Modi. @@Maikashmiri there is reason behind it, in 2019 election Congress used different slogan to attack Modi and that didn't work instead it hurt them a lot. Ind.i.a alliance, big leaders advised not to attack Modi. As per alliance, Modi has a good image among people and it was advised not to use a bad slogan against him. If you this time the narrative is very different from the last election. This time they are using words like dictatorship and democracy is in danger. And for bjp it works when they talk negatively about Rahul Gandhi. Bcs in the last 15 years negative images have been created for Gandhi. When I say negative it has many meanings.

First of all, traveling at night through Bandipur is dangerous for wild animals like deer, and elephants who cross the highway at night.. And so it's selfish for us humans to demand night travel for our commercial convenience. I personally don't agree on any demand that destroys the environment in pursuit of development. It appears that the Malayalam-speaking anchor is on a mission to defame Rahul Gandhi, as she consistently adds extra points beyond the opinions expressed by the public they interviewed. Could she be betraying the trust of both News Laundry and the viewers? I personally know Wayanad and its vibe, but after watching two programs from Kerala reporting, it seems to portray a different picture from reality. Winning at Wayanad is a cake walk for Rahul, and the people living there are aware of that.
