This was around 1982. Holy hell, poor Waylon was about to climb the walls. He doesn’t look well and is shaky beyond belief. I love Jessi and Waylon but feel for him, here. Even Jessi looks apprehensive. The one thing you can always tell is that his heart was good and kind. The man was suffering. Thank heaven that Jessi stood by him. A rock, despite great trials most wives would not have tolerated. You can tell she was trying to be a calming force for him, here. Nothing against the interviewer-these stars had to do press-and the lady is obviously professional, but her voice is like nails on chalkboard. I feel for both Waylon and Jessi in this scenario. The dressing room is cinderblocks. Hey, show biz. Two legends. I wish Waylon were still with us, but that was never going to happen. But Jessi is still a force-new album (probably her last) arriving October 2023 and the first song on RU-vid, ‘Edge of Forever’, is SUPERB. Kicks butt. (Of course, she wrote it herself, as usual). Waylon is smiling from the other side.
I agree, Waylon was not in good shape here. This was when his cocaine use was at the highest level. You can tell because his voice is very raspy and weak. I’m glad Jessi stayed by his side, is she hadn’t he would have been gone far sooner than he was. Both legends.
You can tell she's deeply in love with him. Look at how she lights up when she talks about their song being, "Storms never last." They seemed like an awesome couple. I'm sad they didn't get to last as long as Johnny and June...
