Amazing win, Dolphins! Congratulations on making history. Taking down one of the comp’s heavyweights in round 1 is a great start! Just goes to show a champion team can defeat a team of champions. Marshall King was great and fast. Hammer is solid in the number 1 jersey. Defence is much improved since the trials, especially Kaufusi. No Manu, Crichton or JWH hurt the Chooks, but that’s no excuse for the poor and disappointing defence, errors and discipline. Hopefully they will gel better as the season goes on.

My bold prediction is the Dolphins will win most of their next five games and then come crashing back to Earth. Many of the heavily favoured teams struggled in round 1 and I think this is because their preparation is tailored for gradual improvement thru the season and hoping to peak in the second half of the year. The Dolphins need to win games early to solidify their supporters and prove they deserve to be in the comp, so they would’ve tailored their prep for an earlier peak, but the other teams’ conditioning will catch up eventually and the Dolphins’ true standing will become apparent. I’m glad they won and I hope they do well.

Long season ahead, but even if the Dolphins finish outside the eight this year I believe their prospects are much better than the Gold Coast. Of course, Queenslanders will want a return to the halcyon days when the Broncos and Cowboys rode roughshod over the rest of the competition, but I'm eager to see if the crowd is willing to make the trek to the peninsula when the novelty has worn off. Milton is about as central as it gets for Brisbane locals - Kippa-Ring not so much.

how do all? superb effort sir bennett 28 - 0 , what a game win, [ 1/ the first close up easts try looking from dead ball there's daylight between ball and wrist making ball head post way before ground. 2/ teddy's pass a metre forward for that attempt, and 3/ again if looking from dead ball line, clearly shows hammer skraping fingers down ball on ground which sends it sideways onto east players fingertips ]. should be 32 - 34 to zip if they had competent adjudicators on and off field. why they pick a coupla grainy long videos and not clear indicators for two and no side on shot for close pass try is evident enough for me. they did same last and prior years, still no honesty in that part of game it seems. again well done dolphins and shame nrl. taztez
