Wayne Mardle's Masterclass: Equipment - What darts should you use?

I need a ‘try-before-you-buy’ type shop to get pointers about my game… I gave it away for 15 yrs due to 3 x back surgeries… now my darting efforts irk me no end… I feel a bit like Snakebite, as I’m going through many different styles of darts like a hot knife through butter… I start off throwing reasonably with each of them until I go to throw in competition, then … blaaaaaaahhh…!!! Next set…!! I was never a world beater at the oche, but I was pretty successful in my own ‘little pond’ back in the day…

Would love to chat equipment with Wayne, feel like there's so much now but at the end of the day it's about comfort - performance will come later!

Wayne good timing for me! I’m looking for a new set of darts. I figured out this past six months ring grip darts are my type. I’ve ordered Luke Littler load outs but in the back of my head I’m thinking are these right? I love my Rob Cross and Harrows ring grips but is there any more you’d recommend? Price range-£50

wayne, how do you decide what weight is best for you? with the variety of darts now on the market? i still have and use regularly my bristow red ring 25g and now some lovely littler gen 1 pixel in 24g,

Enjoyed this, was a little surprised to see Tuffers in the last video. I assumed this was gonna be all darts players? Not for me that one

Would it be a good idea for you to get someone in from Winmau or another manufacturer, to talk about how the common flight shapes impact trajectory.. same for barrel shape and length... stem length... point length? Just so that when I order my next set of darts I can make sense of the impact of each part... so I when I mix n match for that next set, I'll have a sense of what they SHOULD be doing, during flight... then I just have to analyze my throw accordingly? Otherwise, people may spend upwards of $100 on a standard flight, 28mm points and a 24g straight barrel like James Wade... and it may be an absolute waste of $100 :( Maybe if was armed with knowledge like I mention above... I may be able to order a set that has a better chance of being a good fit for me. All that being said.. I realize that could be a 30 min video :(

Open discussion on gear quality? I’ve used many many stems over the years from many suppliers and I can honestly say I don’t know why “Ruthless” are so popular, most brittle stems I’ve ever used. They split down the middle in ways I’ve never seen, and sometimes they just shatter entirely. I’m not even good at grouping. I see a lot of “Ruthless” flights on the TV events so I assume the pros must also be using the stems? I can’t have got that unlucky that many times?

Any chance of a comeback Wayne, would love to see you play again?
