One thing that you didn't mention regarding the sims 3 bookcase. I love how the state of the bookcase depends on how much books is in the book case. You got Barely Filled -> Partially Filled -> Fully Filled bookcase.
yeah! and each bookcase had their own storage space so you could have them specifically for children/toddler books, cook books, skill building or whatever else!
@@thesims3girlie Yes but I hate when you delete a bookcase, all the books didn't get deleted along with the bookcase. They all been moved to your family inventory.
I used to build for hours in Sims 3, I think I was more in build mode than live mode. Then there was the CAW tool, omg. This thing was so frickin amazing. You could make your own custom world, and people were sharing their creations on the internet. I've never spend as much time in Sims 4 build mode. And the lack of the CASt tool was a huge bummer.
Plus, those custom colors on that counter, you can save and then just grab and drag onto other pieces. EDIT: AND you can upload swatches to TS3. So if there isn't a swatch already in the game you like, you can add your own!
I mean, yeah, building in TS 3 is a bit cumbersome and restrictive, but the objects are much more usable. In TS 4, as you highlighted, many, if not most, objects are so weird and cartoony, and they are virtually unusable in any normal house. We've essentially paid hundreds of euros/dollars/pounds to have a catalogue of mostly unusable items and swatches.
Tbh anyone who thinks Sims 4 has a better build and buy mode need to try building anything that isn't a suburban house with an upsized toy car since vehicles do not exist still.
I know you said who asked for the library kit - ME! because of exactly what you said! TS4 bookcases are just garbage. I used so many in TS3 because they look like normal bookcases anyone would have in their house. I hate the TS4 ones with a passion. They're all weird shaped or too big or too fancy. And I love that TS3 bookcases actually fill up when you put books on them. There were so many nice little touches in that game that are just gone now.
And here's the problem, requesting yet another pack when the previous game of the franchise was better... You're just giving EA more excuses to rip you off...
That's why I say that instead of free to play Sims 5 Maxis should just update the graphics of Sims 3, bundle it with the DLC, port it to the newer operating systems/consoles and make every simmer happy for once 😅
Each texture of the color wheel has a different sound. For example, if you make a countertop stone it will sound different than wood when a sim places something on it, sims 3 is just so cool...
@@ReginaTrans_ I don't think they were trying to be smart. It's not the little details that made it a problem, it's the fact the game itself was so expansive and ambitious.
@@ReginaTrans_ I know what you mean. But you answered to a comment mentioning the sounds. So I replied to that. And having different sounds for each counter surface doesnt make your game lag. How would it? A sound is played when something is put on a counter top. It doesnt matter how many different sounds there are, the game only plays one each time the Sim interacts with it. So there is always a sound being played, no matter if its just the same one over and over, or if its a different sound being picked each time. Its a pretty simple math. Now, even if it causes delays due to the sound taking too long to load, you would just have those sound delays, but the game wouldnt lag, it would just keep running smoothly. I know that because I have such sound delays in Fallout 4 with weapons and music on my pip boy due to HQ sound mods being installed in my game. The game doesnt lag, only the sounds take longer to load and theres a delay before they are being played.
1:40 You actually can sort by packs, store content, and CC. It’s a little star looking symbol by the catalog 😊 TS3 just has all the little nitty gritty stuff that 4 seems to have omitted.
You could also save the color/texture you created to slap onto other furnishings. Makes it easy if you want to repeat a theme in the house. I made one of the prettiest dresses once using a metallic texture and an old gold that wound up looking like raw silk. Textures in the color wheel saved a lot of Sims 3 base game clothing which always looks like plastic to me.
I've been saying all this stuff since 2014 when Sims 4 was released... It was a big step backwards. It's like you go from "total freedom" in Sims 3 to "limited freedom" Sims 4. Sims 4 took out the ability to truly be original.
You forgot the columns! It's unacceptable that in the sims 4 they are attached to the grid and although I don't know what you can't give them without a cage, meanwhile in the sims 3 they are not attached to the grid ;)
The reason there's no create a style tool in ts4 in my opinion is so they can force people into buying new packs and kits just for one item/swatch they really want... unfortunate but it is ea's cashgrabby tactics that have ruined the game after all 😪
They did because it was supposed to help with perfomance, as a lot of people said create a style indeed lag in older noteboks and they just wanted to avoid that.
Bro they split sims 3 packs into different sims 4 packs this isn't news, they ain't hiding you'd think they would at least hide their shame but the actual gall is insane.
In the sims 3 you bought packs to get the gameplay. In the sims 4 there is barely any gameplay in the packs so the only reason for buying them is pretty items
agreed! and even if they dulled the game for performance purposes, sims 4 packs are so hit or miss. they usually bug out and even more so after a patch update.
Well there's a game that is 100% a sims 2 and sims 3 remastered coming out on september 12th, it's Life by You, it has been developped by Paradox and and Rod Humble the creator of Second Life and the sims 3 :D I can't wait !!!! There's also Paralives, but still in development
@@DiscoTimelordASD yea ngl the sims3 models were impressive for their time, just that some assets has really low res textures, and the game’s lighitng bortheree me at times
@@KatsyKat Oh agreed. I just expected that Sims4 would have taken the realistic quality sky high given the new quality of graphics and improvements they had so much time to make. It would have been glorious.
Also on the water lots, you can manipulate the terrain so you can have more beach or less beach based on what you’re trying to do. Can’t do that on water lots in sims 4
The video maybe just for fun, but let's admit it, The Sims 4 is a shit show. The Sims 2 had better customization when it comes to buy mode objects AND world customization.
The idea behind the Sims 4 is to make it more cashgrabby. They want us to buy more packs to more content where in the Sims 3 you have abilities to create more yourself. They outdid themselves in the case of needing to purchase cats and dogs to get 1st pet stuff. The list goes on and on!
This is true! I played the Sims 3 for years without purchasing any other packs. The base game was all I needed. But I’ve bought several for the Sims 4! They made the Sims 3 so good that DLC wasn’t needed
The Sims 4 worlds are basically The Sims 1 world but prettier. Even in Sims 2 you can place lots with various sizes anywhere as long as it's connected to a road. When Sims 4 came out, that part is a big turn off for me. Regressing back and forcing people to buy Expansion Packs to get more space to build in felt so cash grabby. I can create my own world since Sims 2 and now they're taking that away. Also if Create-a-Style tool existed in Sims 4, how could they sell Kits and Build/Buy & CAS item reskins - they'd have to do more work.
If you also owned Sim City 4, you could even create new neighbourhoods for Sims 2 in that game. Yes, you could do a lot more in Sims 2 and definitely in Sims 3.
@Oozaru85 because the options in base game are so limited and ugly that a lot of people feel like they have to spend money to get the enjoyment out of a game they want. If they had a create a style mode then people would at least have more options, especially those that can't afford to personalize their games the way they should be able to. Why would a company regress in their features if not to gouge the fan base. Feels icky to me and a turn off after so many years supporting the game.
@@HDGamingPlus Yes, they gouge their customers. But they aint forcing anyone to buy their stuff. Thats a big difference. You dont need the game to live. Its not something your life depends on. If you dont like EAs business practices, dont support them. Dont buy their stuff. And if ur on PC, there are tons of free mods to improve your game.
A first ever let's play I've seen of ts4, I maybe watched like 4 minutes of it. Just because I wanted to see what the game looked like. From the very beginning, I knew I'm not going to get ts4, ts3 was more than enough, and honestly, I was really upset they stopped supporting the game. I watched through the cas, which I thought was really nice, and then the "world view" appeared... Ugly, small, grey. I listened to the monologue of the creator of the video, saying there were no pools, cars, and plenty of other different things. After she finished talking about all the things missing, I just turned off the video.
Of course the Sims 3 build mode is superior. Especially the create a style tool 👌 I still can't understand why we didn't get colour wheel in next game.
You definitely can grab walls to push and pull them in sims 3. You just can't move the whole room around (which I find annoying anyway because when I'm editing and turn the camera the whole damn room rotates)
More please lol... also being able to have hybrids in sims 3 i know thats not build mode. But being able to place a column down and automatically having the floor tile outline appear above it was everything in the sims 3
The only thing I would say is better about the sims 4 is the building tools. It's easier to build in the sims 4. But that's literally it. The sims 3 wins on everything else
The camera functions alone make building absolutely miserable. Edge scroll but only on 3 sides. The key for rotating the camera also turns the whole damn room/roof you're working on. Tilt function requires 2 keys. Like tf were they thinking
Sims 4 was supposed to be an upgrade from Sims 3 but no it went backwards. I understand if EA didn't want to do a rinse and repeat with Sims 4 but they could have found a compromise Hopefully Sims 5 or whatever it's called doesn't turn out to be another SimCity mistake.
Also the build mode items are normal items and make way more sense than some of the crazy stuff in sims 4. I recently switched back to sims 3 and idk if I'll ever go back to sims 4.
When I played ts4 the first time I was so shocked you couldn't just put lots anywhere, I mean even sims 2 let you drop lots anywhere along the road 🤦🏼♀️
also wanted to put out that in one of the sims 3 builds you showed there was a base game playground for children already placed for gameplay, the sims 4 could/would never, sadly.
Once in Sims 3 I saved a custom colourway of a pattern, black background, (like a stark #000000) and then circles in painfully bright shades of blue, pink and purple… then I made a child sim and her head-to-toe outfit was this pattern. Then her bedroom… the floors, the walls, every part of every single piece of furniture was all the same pattern. And the colours were so crazy intense, and she basically looked like a floating face when standing in the room. It was ridiculous, stupid and chaotic, but I absolutely loved it.
What irritates the crapola out of me is when you use the room tool and it gives you the size in TS3 - 10x6, etc. TS4 gives you the price. It costs what it costs, I don't want to do math and count how many I go over and down. Do that for me please. I'd rather it give me the size. I don't want to count.
And in Sims 3 you could make your own textures and import them. I imported so many different patterns in Sims 3 and made rooms where everything matched. Not great actual style, but I had fun. I guess that is the most important point. In Sims 3 I had fun.
Sims 3 without a doubt was peak build mode. Create a style and color wheel is enough to cover thousands, if not millions of swatches and designs. Oh how far EA fallen in the Sims 4, and it hasn't gone back up after nine years in the making.
I don't hate you, I adore you for saying this!! I have always loved sims 3 build mode, I'd say the build tools are clunkier than sims 4 for sure but not as clunky as sims 2 lol, and the create a style or design aspect of sims 3 is incredible, and custom textures are super easy to include in the game if you want. And the best thing no limits in the world and placing all our lots we want lets you build freely on any large lot without worrying "oh no im wasting this lot and what if i need it for something else" Loving how many sims 4 simmers are doing more sims 3 and 2 content recently
I went into this video disagreeing that Sims3 is better than 4, but after you break it down I understand your reasonings (I’m not a fan of sims4 and play 2 & 3 mostly). Sims4 is better in terms of being modern, user friendly, easier to understand and build with but that’s pretty much it lol. Yes, Sims4 has more items, but like you said half of them aren’t practical Clutter items do absolutely nothing. One of my favorite things about Sims3 is some of the pre-made builds, they’re genuinely so pretty and creative! I don’t even really build much in 3 and prefer to start with the homes already there. I enjoy Sims4 build mode because it is miles easier and I don’t mind the swatches, but being able to build wherever and make your own world in sims 2/3 feels so good! I think Sims4 really ruined the game with a 2d world, limited lots, and a closed world.
Not forgetting in the Sims 3 you can purchase multiple houses, which is not possible in the Sims 4, I also loved the house with water, was my favourite
If they would just remaster sims 3 and its expansions it would make them millions. I stopped playing after 3 because of the closed world, toddlerless, pool-less, design tool-less, car-less game it was at launch. Just downloaded sims 4 and the building and the camera are god awful
We have a colour wheel, textures and patterns for a potential create-a-style in how we paint and customize cats, dogs, werewolves and (soon to be) horses ...👏THE 👏CAPACITY 👏IS 👏RIGHT 👏 THERE 👏 But if we don't get it, there's more incentive to buy DLC and especially kits and the argument that it would cause lag is stupid, if that's the case then why do skin tones, makeup, and the aforementioned pets not cause lag despite being customizable? This game is closed world to prevent that and it still lags anyway and there's mods which lets us freely recolour hairs and clothes and even furniture using the makeup and skin tone sliders and there's zero performance difference - its just about monetization and general laziness at this point from whoever is in charge of this scenery simulator
Feel like pure shit just want her back meme.jpeg. CAS is better too, other than the clothing. Sliders > push and pull. The sliders in TS3 are so in depth that I feel like a lot of people don't actually realise that you can go like four layers deep into customising just your Sims eyes alone. It's so hard to make unique looking Sims in TS4 because push and pull is so extremely limited. TS4 CAS is just "white beauty standard or gtfo" dress up game. The carpet in TS4 drives me mad too. Very American to have like one usable carpet option. Some of us live in countries where everyone has carpet in every room of their home except the kitchen, laundry and bathroom and feel weird about having to have wood or tile floors in every gd room because the carpets are so ugly!
I think the reason for swatches was so that the colors/textures would load faster in the Sims 4, after having a whole open world with all the colors and patterns imaginable available in TS3, it just felt like a step back. Like I would rather wait a couple more seconds for something to load in TS3 than have such limited customizations.
Wow. I’ve not played Sims 3 in like 10 years! I forgot how much I miss the Create a Style. My builds and Sims are so limited now. The Sims 4 is actually embarrassing looking at this video
There is a cheat in Sims3 where you can add extra tiles/squares to the lot sizes as well (I think it was just called Edit?? I can't remember) by using the mouse and clicking where you wanted the extra tile/square. So I would always extend my 64x64 lot size as far as I could. I can't remember if there was a maximum amount that you could do, but I remember I made them huge. *Edit - it may have been Sims2 - it's been too long for me to remember...
No no, as a sims 4 passionate builder, I agree. I switched to sims 3 and I'm learning it, and enjoying it now. All the preexisting builds are awesome enough, most are unique swatches, etc. And are highly entertaining to renovate.
I prefer the Sims 3 than Sims 4. My top favorites are the Sims 2 and the Sims 3. In last times sometimes i play with the Sims 3. :-) And i really like in the Sims 3 the zebra (zebra is 1 of my favorite animals) and cow patterns. Plus i agree fully, the Sims 4 build options and areas are so limited, but in the Sims 3 not.
this is why I'm going back to the sims 3 because I can't the sims 4 any longer it is boring as hell I can't color anything I want and it has not enough content in each game pack ea are ripping people off with mega expensive add ons for money this is why I might not even play the sims 5 if it goes well then I will
ts3 has normal sofas and couches, trying to find a normal cozy couch in ts4 is an absolute nightmare! I hate it! And the base game couch looks like someone made it out of Legos cause its so..stiff and firm
Create a Style in Sims 3 was truly the pinnacle and I hope that, since they're not making Sims 5, that Sims 4 gets something similar because their swatches are just not it in TS4.
In the sims 4 base game, you should be able to create a lake with the terrain tools and build over water anywhere. it’s still not the same as a beach though
I hated the swatches I'm sorry 😂 people were so mad when Sims 3 came out and swatches were a thing, they felt the furniture was terrible compared to the Sims 2. I remember spending hours trying all the swatches and hating them and longing for my 5000+ items of custom content from sims 2 😂 I think the basic shapes of the couches and counters just felt incredibly boring. Just watching this is giving me flashbacks to the lag in create a style 😂
@@creativecutieprincessd ehhh no I still hate swatches because I always felt like they looked too fake and poor quality. Sure you get more options of wood and carpet and fabric but I just never thought the fabric swatches or wood swatches looked realistic or nice and a lot of the patterns were kind of tacky and not something you'd ever use on a real couch. I own a lot of the packs, so I feel like I have plenty of options lol I love the couches with the blankets and pillows, or the kitchen counters that have the cottage kitchen vibes(I think I usually use the ones from that stuff pack country kitchen or whatever it's called)
@@Juwlz it was 2009 after all and I think sims 3 was going for a 1950's - 1970's style sitcom aesthetic and the style of that time was horrid I know I might get hate from boomers for this but it was really bad, hence why the swatches suffered the only good thing I can say is if you want to build a vintage style house using 70s, 80s and 90s stuff pack it really fits I won't lie.
You know almost all base game objects (and some store downloadables) were basically conversions of Sims2 objects... To add, they were more specifically the colonial, club, and quaint from base game, mission from OfB, country from seasons, and a modified glamour bedroom from glamour life stuff. The store had tiki from seasons, storybook from OfB, 50's diner from nightlife, old town from TS1 UL, and a "secret" one: the hotel theme from BV...
Can you do a video on which Sims 1 items you would love to see in Sims 4?🙏🏻🌸 And I'm not talking about the vibrating bed and all. That's commonly known. I mean like other legendary stylish things 🥹🥹
The only aspect sims 4 build/buy is better in, is functionality. It's easier to use (especially for roofs). But in every other way, Sims 3 is better. I fuss with swatches to no end getting it just how I like. The only thing in 3 I don't like.. is hair and clothes. But since even those have swatch customizing, I live with it.
