I beat 25+ Text-based Siera Adventure Games (I hated the point & click style), & I always played for max Score, I usually got all but about 10 points, with only the hints from the Prodigy Dial Up (pre-1991 Prodigy Internet era) Sierra Adventure Gaming Bulletin Boards (moderators didn't allow solutions, only hints) I got perfect scores on about 4 Space quests, KQ4, KQ3, Black Cauldron, QFG 1 & 2.
Not as bad as the Quest for Glory hero getting drunk after 3 beers in the first game. Roger Wilco does that in order to progress the game in Space Quest 1, and it takes two more to actually get him drunk. (3 in the remake.) Then there's Alexander in King's Quest 3, who gets drunk after only his first drink. (Although, technically, he's not quite even 18 at the time.) Oh, and Detective Bonds in Police Quest 2, who can't shoot straight after 2 drinks.
At the bar there's another death. If you go to the blond girl sitting alone at a table and you write "kiss girl" a couple of times (which she'll reply that her boyfriend is going to be mad when he'll learn this) and try to sit down on the empty chair... maybe?, her boyfriend will come up and falcon punch you in the face. GAME OVER! :)
I imagine the Price Is Right Fail Horn playing instead whenever you fail at the simplistic things like getting to your flight on time, having your ID on hand, or remembering your name and rank in this game.
@nsssj There is no loss linked to that. The only thing that happens is that you can't read the microfilm but the game can be won without that if you already know your orders.
Many of these would have been interesting if they were more... animated. Like if descending the sub with the hatch open actually showed thr submarine being flooded
Just looked walkthrough and yes, it seems that in Pentagon you give ID to guard and go to briefing. When you get back officer gives you first wrong ID. I'm 100% sure that it's gameover if you don't notice it. Sierra on-line 😂
i played the demo for this back before it released, and boy am I glad that I never went any further with it and purchased the game. holy crap this looks AWFUL. All the signs were there that it was a terrible game in the demo even.. but THIS is some next-level garbage.
I mentioned this in another video how I thought that they tried to do too many things in this game. Harpoon was out around the same time, which was a RTS naval combat game and I really feel like Ken Williams wanted some of that in this game.
Typical Sierra game. They really had way of making games feel punishing and uninteresting at worst for mistakes. It many times felt that they wasted all their time to figure out ways to die in game. So many of them had so many BS deaths if you didn't take or notice something particular. At worst it wasn't even mentioned that what you didn't notice. Police Quest was though nice, even though it had tons of those, it was generally speaking always mentioned why you screwed up.
