I remember when I started my soul silver game up right in the start I found a shiny pidgey but I didn’t have any poke balls to this day since it was the very start of the game, that shiny pidgey haunts me to this day wish I could find another one eventually
*Just for people who are looking for this info because I could not find this ANYWHERE* : There are actually a few ways you can increase your chance of a shiny: 1. You can increase your encounter rate of all pokemon by using a pokemon with the ability *illuminate* (staryu, starmie, volbeat, chinchou, lanturn). 2. Exclusively to pokemon Emerald, to increase your chances of hatching an egg, use a pokemon with the ability(s) *magma armor* or *flame body* (magmar, slugma) *Other Tips* *Moves* : To make things even easier once you've managed to find a shiny: use a pokemon that can learn the move *false swipe* (scyther, scizor, marowak, grovile, ninjask/shedinja, zangoose) this move will allow you to get the shiny down to exactly 1HP without risk of killing it. Also be sure to have a pokemon that knows any kind of status effect inducing move like stun spore, or hpynosis. be sure to avoid using moves or pokemon that can poison or burn the shiny for obvious reasons. Another helpful move you could use if you are sick of running around is sweet scent, this will pull any pokemon in the area to you. *Repel Trick* : Another thing you can do to limit what pokemon you find in the grass or caves is repel trick. Be sure to first look up what pokemon you are trying to find in the route you are trying to find it first. If it is higher level than ALL the pokemon that can be found in that area, then it can be repel tricked. To do this, get a pokemon to the front of your party that is EXACTLY (or 1-2 levels lower depending on level of other pkm in area) than the shiny you are trying to hunt and spray a repel (max repel preferred) this will allow you to encounter ONLY leveled pokemon in the wild that are higher or equal to the level of your front-party pokemon. *Helpful Items* : The smokeball will allow you to escape any pokemon no matter what lvl, using repeat balls or timer balls are useful if you have accidentally poisoned or burned your shiny. (im sure there is more but im tired of typing lmfao) *Please lemme know in the comments if I missed anything important, I am still trying to find info on how to make hunting even easier in third gen, THANKS!*
@@srij0n316 that eevee was my first counted hunt (kinda). Got it at around 5,500 and evolved it into vaporeon. My 2nd shiny charmander took 22k btw, 4 system hunting
I just started playing fire red again. Figured it was time for another round. Get charmander walk into grass and shiny pidgey appears. Before I have pokeballs. Start to rage mildly. Keep walking after yeeting it into oblivion. A few steps later a shiny rat appeared. I've never been so lucky/unlucky in my life. So much rage.
I've been stuck at 800 SRs for Shiny Mewtwo only in HeartGold and part of me would like to continue that soon!:D Nice video btw. I always love the factual videos you put out there. Besides Shiny Hunting, it's different that you put out factual videos, most people just don't Top 5's or Top 10's and you kinda just do your own section which is nice!;D
I have at least 1 shiny Pidgey/Rattata on the last 5 playthroughs of Fire Red. . . I have no idea how that happens other than my ROM being lucky. Also, I never use cheats (if I did, all of my team would be shiny, not a beginner mon.
since shiny locks never existed in gen 3, do you think it is possible to hunt in game trades in FR/LG for the ones you only get one of? I don't see why you technically couldn't hunt them...nothing has ever really said we *couldn't*
excellent question, despite the fact theres no shinies locks in these games as you said, I think that the npcs traded pokemon has the same value numbers as their trainer, so the shiny chance is almost impossible, there may be a 000000001 percent chance but honestly I thinks its not gonna happen, will look more into that as im interested now.
My go to are Amazon and Ebay. Of course theres always going to be the odd scammer, but make sure you look at there reviews and if they have high credibility, your fine! And your usually protected by buyer protection anyway
@@christianmiranda331 expect to go over odds, anything under is a bonus! But the best way is not to think about it too much and do a certain amount a day and have a break
Hey man i have a question, i recently bought firered off amazon for $40 and turned out to b a fake cartridge, and I'm jus wondering if I'm still able to shiny hunt with it
@@starkiller1341 i failed a shiny charmander today and I kid you not, i went onto my new enerald game and soft reset it ome time and got a shint torchic, evolved it while typing this 😂 idk anyone who has has that crazy luck
Shiny articuno here, almost 2'000 soft reset...pretty lucky but the nature is awful ahahaha....it a great to play this game again after 15 years...so many memories
My first non-Gyarados shiny was a Girafarig in the Ruby Safari Zone. I did manage to capture it, but I traded it for both a Cyndaquil and Charmander, since I didn't have a Kanto game at the time. Probably not the best trade, but back then, starters were worth a lot more than they are now.
So, I have two shiny Pokémon in Fire Red I encountered... 1. Shiny Articuno (1 hp used struggle and ko'd itself.) 2. Shiny rhydon (Safari zone, ran away from me, I stopped play for three days because I was so angry with myself...)
I got a pokerus infection on my rayquaza in emerald WHICH IS LITERALLY ALMOST 3 TKMES HARDER THEN FINDING A SHINY YET I HAVENT FOUND A SHINY AG AL Except for my shiny rayquaza that was hacked in black 2 to make me feel better
I've recently gotten into shiny hunting. So I thought I'd check out some tips, but as I thought I found nothing I didn't already know. Thanks for the vid all the same.
well this video is for gen 3 specifically, so theres not really any methods to it. from gen 4 and up you have the likes of pokeradar, chain fishing etc... thanks!
I'm play Leaf green. That is why I watched your vid. I was hoping that I'd learn some tricks to catching Shiny Pokémon. I did learn just as you've said that there isn't really any special methods for Gen 3. That is helpful in its self.
I try to capture a good old blue ditto after 3 hours straight I noticed that my pokemons have pokerus it was probably by de kofing I capture in the mansion not what I expected but still good PD I found the ditto but he copy my kofing and explode
That's a shame. I've found 2 or 3 completely random shinies in a solid 17 years of playing it's quite uncommon. But when you Hunt for one you'll definitely find it, just takes a while!
I had placed an order for a copy of Firered yesterday partially to get a Charizard with Siesmic Toss and then Ominous Wind when transferred to Soulsilver. Charizard is my favourite starter and all time favorite overall. However, I'm not sure if I should SR for one or breed.
Mainly I got it for the nostalgia since I use to have a copy of FireRed but gave it to my brother and playing it on a GBA emulator on my phone didn't seem right.
@@TruffleAntylamon the genuine experience is better than emulator. That's cool, your wanting a shiny charizard right? I think soft resetting would be your best bet. Breeding takes too long in gen 3
@@starkiller1341 yes I had meant to put shiny in front of Charizard but couldn't figure out how to edit after I posted. This Charizard would be my eighth over all shiny Charizard. Each one that I have has a different moveset. I got my own little army of black dragons, though I'm not sure why. 😅 I guess when I don't know what to shiny hunt, I go after charmander.
@@TruffleAntylamon that's epic! I'm thinking how many I have, hard because I have every main series pokemon game🤣. I think I just have 1 shiny charizard to my knowledge. And hes a purple beauty! As you probably know gen 2 charizard is purple, and hes on my stadium 2
@@starkiller1341 yep, gen 2 Charizard looks pretty good. If Charizard had kept it's purple color, I think I probably would've named him Spyro since I've been a Spyro fan since the classic games. Since the 3d modles are either darker or paler than their sprites, I wonder if the purple would've been darker or lighter? Nightshade or Belladona would also be good names as well since the flower is purple.
Ha! Got a shiny starter charmander while soft reseting for "naughty" nature plus i "male". Although i got a male shiny charmander, it had a adamant in nature and still decided to keep it
I was playing a fire red randomizer, i was hunting a shelgon because my glaceon was still weak And ended up seeing a shiny shelgon at 18 encounters But my game got corrupted...
I found gold magikarp as a kid and had no idea what it was, i thought it was a glitch but i caught it anyway and it did evolve to a red gyarados. i had NO idea how rare that was
@@ehmonja nevermind you can shiny hunt on other games. Even on your phone. Pokemon go is great for that. 1/500 odds for the pokemon that have their shiny version on the game that is
@@starkiller1341 it was like 10 years ago I was a kid and wanted some extra money to buy a playstation :/ i May start a new Pokemon game save soon then. Maybe one of the old ones like leaf green/fire red
Great video! I think I have a good idea for who I want my first shiny hunt to be, but I haven't played FireRed (there's a hint for you, I guess...a very obscure hint, lol) in a while. Will do a video on it too, probably in a similar format to yours (of course, I will reference your hunts and whatnot, as they were the inspiration for this). Hoping to see a Ruby Sapphire and Emerald video on this too, as Gen. 3 is my favourite Gen. as well.
My first shiny in Leaf Green was a Nidorino in the Safari Zone. I named him Blue, and he's now a level 80 Nidoking I also got a shiny Slowpoke and Spearow but those aren't too too special
I've been SRing for a shiny squirtle for the past 6 and a half hours with nearly 10,000 sr's, I searched up how to shiny hunt just to make sure I'm not doing it wrong. So I guess I am just unlucky. A 1/8192 chance and I've gone past it. :( I wont give up though I will carry on.
First of all, respect to all the veterans who still playing the game after years and years x) I dont know what are the odds of this happening but I decided to go for Lucky Egg on Fire Red, I got it with the first Chansey I found, after laughing at my friend due to my luck, he just got Pokerus on one of his pokemon, Lmao, that was the pure representation of Karma.
It was your lucky day I guess😂😅 the odds are difficult to pull that of with the first try for sure. And pokerus is rarer than finding a shiny, I actually caught a shiny pokemon with pokerus, odds of that are astronomical lol
@@starkiller1341 LOL congrats on that ma man👌 Personally after playing since the game came out, now I decided to get next level and hunt some shiny hahaha, I guess I will start with Dratiny with the gamble coins, lets see how it goes
@@juanmaisla21 thanks! Shiny hunting in the game corner was alot of fun for me, I recorded them and their on my channel if your interested. I got shiny abra clefiary and pinsir. Haven't done dratini but may try it down the line, good luck bro!
Alright thanks cause I thought turning off your console resets your odds back to 0 which I thought I would have to leave my gba on until I get a shiny. Thanks for the info
@@starkiller1341 thanks, yes I won't give up =) does it actually make a difference since I'm playing with a copy or revised version of fire red or not? so my question is, are there shinys in the copies? since they're the same game, it shouldn't make a difference, right?
I got a flipping shiny manky in fire red ,i forgot to save, accently ko'd it got mad, broke a vase, mom heard me,saw thw vase you can guess what happened next and also my mom is asian
I never found a shiny since I wanted to avoid encounters as much as possible. I'm still upset that I didn't notice a shiny growlithe because of speed up.
@@starkiller1341 well yes i was trying to catch a seadra and then *sparkling sound* a shiny horsea appear and luckily Horsea line are my favorite Water type pokemon 😁
@@iago8761 yes they still work. There's videos on RU-vid that explain it. Especially the WiFi was shutoff for the ds and all the games including all the pokemon games. However there is a way to still play them via WiFi
@@starkiller1341 great ! Are you playing it ? There is a way to bring to them games the Pokémons from leaf green and fire red ? I mean by an emulator. Thanks
If your unsure just make a save state before the legendary fot example, catch it checks its stats and then reset repeat and if the stats are different then it works.
abra isn't special lol, every pokemon Is the same shiny odds, its the gamecorner that just makes it quicker because you can buy lots of abras at the same time.
