I had a chat with a police officer regarding this. They know the rules pretty well. Now let’s take a scenario, you’re fined for some reason. They give you a challan, let’s say a paper one. As you get of the city, they don’t have any POS machines. Now you’re supposed to pay the bill within 14 days or they have to take you to the court. Now if you didn’t submit any original documents, it’s most likely, you won’t pay the fine (common Indian mentality). Taking you to the court is cumbersome, you will have to be served a notice first then police has to be present on the hearing date. Too much of a hassle! Instead, create your own short cut (Indian jugaar) law, confiscate an original document. It forces you to pay the fine timely on your own to get the document back. Still people ignore fines. Sometimes traffic department gives discounts on the fine (I have seen a long queue many times). So enjoy driving, but safety comes first!😅

If you have all the correct documents in digital form and still if the police doesn't accept it you can file a complaint against the police officer in the stata police complaint authority.

riding without helmet or not maintaining any traffic rule, if you're caught in this case, then you have to show any of your original doc in hard copy, e.g, License or blue book or insurance. Same rule applies in all over India

Digi Locker or mParivahan is just a soft copy of your document..but when an offence is done,one have to submit original RC or DL if the challan is not paid/disposed at the same time or at the same spot…and the guy in the video was driving his bike without helmet..😊

In this case police officer is correct because digilocker is only valid if you doesn't commit an offence.. In this case he didn't wore his helmet and in this type of case hardcopy is compulsory..

Very bad reputation for West bengal or kolkatta traffic police. I visited kolkatta with my Andhra registration car. They pulled my vehicle to side for 3 times within 1 hr. They stopped me near three signals. They pull us as soon as they find other state vehicle. Very bad policing in west bengal. Never I will enter kolkatta city with my vehicle again.

Soft copy acceptable , copy in Digilock is acceptable as per Law, no original or hardcopy required. Speak to his Supervisor. Make a report and send to comissioner.

Same thing happened to me however this illiterate police personnel never ready to obey any govt rules however they have their own sets of rule to follow & stating that they have a target to meet. & This is how Bengal runs.....

These govt official get good salary, PF, retirement pension, where as normal person get nothing, and still these officials want bribe. if you give 200rs he will leave you.
