I actually want to find out how that sound was made. My husband is a composer and uses a lot of synth. This will help him figure out how to use certain functions for his music.
That amber alert sound sounds like the THX logo. I could imagine them showing the alert on TV and it shows the THX logo animation but instead of it saying, "THX" it says, "AMBER ALERT!"
Piggy Porkchop thank you! I think more and more states and areas are catching on to the tone. North Texas has used this tone since 96. Soon after that all of Texas. DC did at one time. Kansas at one time used the tone for amber alerts. So it’s catching on.
@@smurfysproductions8540 We use it in Canada still. CP24 still uses it whenever they do Amber Alerts, Rogers Media I’m pretty sure does it as well. Global BC did one where they had the Amber Alert logo for BC and the distinctive siren with the ominous voiceover of “THIS IS AN AMBER ALERT” and then the details of said Amber Alert. They’ll also play a PSA for the Amber Alert system on some occasions, mostly for filler, and that PSA was done in like 2005 or 2006, I wish I had it somewhere. Before we had Alert Ready in Canada, we used this siren for the radio as well.
when WBAP activated the EAS last night, did they played the "this is a special report from Newstalk 820 WBAP" bumper they play when ever they break into their regular programming to activate the EAS, i know every time I listen to WBAP during severe weather, they often play that bumper before Brad Barton talks about the storms that are causing them to activate the EAS.
That siren-like tone should be used for life threatening amber alerts (where everyone involved is in grave danger), tornado emergencies, very strong hail (4 inch and above) and wind (95 Mph and above) storms. Also for bad flooding (for areas like all of Southeast Texas). NC (my state) should use it for PDS weather watches, since people here are well aware of the traumatizing 1984 and 2011 outbreaks we had here.
@@IbukiMiodaa24 Right!?!?!? Texas government should consider it. I also forgot to mention for PDS winter storm warnings (which is what I believe most of TX had during the Valentines Day cold blast).
Stay scared folks. It's even scarier when it plays before something even worse. That siren's there for a reason, because the reason for it is way scarier.
That's just a synth track being used for an alert.. Not a siren. The SAME ended codes and the alert tone came before that. However I do want to know how that track was made. Industrial music uses &c. From my research, I found that WBAP actually created that alert sound. If anyone from there is reading this, I'd love to know :3
@@smurfysproductions8540 I wouldn't doubt they're the culprit. I monitor them (which they're considered a PEP under the State plan), the LP2, Weather, and CAP/IPAWS and have the alert nodes on my DASDEC set for All of Texas and New Mexico when it comes to statewide alerts.
You know what you could do is get an old computer or tablet download the wbap app or go to tunein and hook that computer up to your eas decoder via its monitor input and you can monitor that way because they feed their eas alerts on their livestream as well. Something you could probably do.
