Please do sacrifice a bit of equity but continue to do this Dirk, hearing your thoughts during a match is invaluable, much appreciated 🙏Also, being able to download the XG analyzed match files is another big bonus for us, your fans 🙂
How fortunate we are that in our game we have top players willing to give their time and share their thoughts (in real matches!) for the benefit of everyone. Moreover, they are courageous enough to show humility and struggle along with prowess and cunning. Thank you, Dirk!
It´s great to hear the thought process of a grandmaster. I hope you continue with these matches and analysis. With regard to the 6 - 1 in the first game. As you pointed out, the correct play leaves one less shot, but also I believe the difference is due to the number of return shots after you are hit. With your play, after you are hit with the 6 - 5, you only have the checker on the 15 pt. to hit back with, whereas the XG play, which leaves a blot on the 8 pt, when hit from the bar, can return hit from the 10 pt. and the 14 pt.
Again great content! I know many BG channels, but this one is absolutly outstanding! I work a lot with these videos, I stop them quite often in order to have enough time to unserstand it deeply. Ty so much!
It would be interesting if you could group your commentary games and see how much your pr differs. May also be interesting to see a comparison of prs between English commentary and German commentary. Loved the video. Please post more.
Great video Dirk! I was surprised when you didn't banana-split, but we've all been there. Normally it's our human tendency to "sit on our assets" that makes us overlook the chance to "re-invest" a big thing like our 6-point. I hope commentary won't affect you too much in your next match! 😊
Another great video. A note on your last blunder where you lifted the slot: The correct six was 24/18, and after that play lifting would have been a reasonable close second, costing only 0.014 according to XG++. Your lifting play only showed up as a blunder because of the 21/15 with the six, leaving your backman somewhat isolated when things go wrong + possible later anti 55 joker.
Hi Dirk, thanks for posting and analysing the match. In addition to enjoying the explanations a LOT, I also like to see series or runs in a tournaments. Gianlazzaro Sanna (italian): www.youtube.com/@glsbackgammon did a excellent job of that in the latest WBIF team tournament, covering most italian games (admittedly his team had a VERY good run) and Rainer Birkle: www.youtube.com/@RainersBackgammonComeback started that a few years back for the german team, but unfortunately discontinued it. I'm definitely looking forward to your next WBIF games. If I would have a request: you could post the matches in xg and exported TEXT format for everyone to enjoy? Although truth be told, I will not be downloading this one, the excellent explanations + the length of the match have given me enough food for thought for now. 👍 Thanks.
Guess the crucial point is to play commented matches just like matches. Easier said than done. 61: 11/10, 16/10 is better since it leaves less shots in the outfield?
how do you prepare for really important matches? online and offline. and also what you thinkin about "first game syndrome" and what to do with that? one time Thomas Tenland said to me that im must play few games on real board, just move checkers over the board, feel colors and lines to feel more comfortable cuz our our didnt ready for new information and better to play a lil before important match
When I have the opportunity, I play a bit on a real board before a bigger tournament. So far I didn't have severe first game issues on tournaments. Online, I try to be especially focussed in the first game(s). I think it's probably more difficult to do that while talking. At least it is interesting to see what kind of things I overlook when I am not completely focussed
