That guitar is a great mod platform. It's an aesthetically pleasing guitar to look at and initially affordable to buy. I like the sound. They have kind of that old Epiphone Casino or Gretsch Country Gent to it. I'd put a Guykey and a roller bridge on it! And better tuners. Gradually!
My new 333 will be here Friday. I'm really excited to have it. I think you should get a little commission on it because you sold it to me, hahaha. Thanks for a great review. I hope mine is that good too.
Hey awesome. I'm excited for you man... All the ones I've had have been good but depending on what you're used to or like, it will need setting up no doubt! A fresh set of strings on these make a huge difference too! Let me know how you like it!
@@j-man9457 so, I'm starting my own RU-vid channel. I'm planning on the unboxing of the new axe to be my first video. I'm also planning to give you a big shout out if that's okay with you. Reviews and unboxing are not the planned content. Everything Nashville TN and guitar related things are what I plan on doing hence the name 615theGuitar. Truck drivers have names for places like. LA is Shaky Town, Vegas is Sin City, Chicago Big Breezy, and good old Nashville is simply The Guitar. 615 is our area code. So to a driver 615 is The Guitar. You probably already know all of that but I thought I'd explain that I don't think I'm " a guitar" aficionado, Haha. I have lived here most of my life though and I believe I can show folks some things they might not ever see otherwise. Even if they did visit Nashville. Long winded reply I know, sorry for that. Maybe you'd enjoy checking it out too. Thanks again for your inspiration and here we go. TWANG!!!
@@615theGuitar Hey Congrats man! I'm already subscribed and waiting! Haha... I did not know the code thing about where you live. Very cool! Would love to visit Nashville someday... Bucket list for sure! Shout out all you want, but it's not necessary at all and don't feel you have to lol! I'll be watching your unboxing and all of your Nashville content😀 Looking forward to it. Have fun and best of luck with the channel!🤘🤩
@@j-man9457 thank you so much for the kind words and the Sub!! That's so awesome I'll try to be interesting and show everyone around. Hopefully you can get your money's worth haha.
Why indeed, bro! Why indeed! Man! I’m beginning to think you have some kind of luck with “partcasting” so to speak. I’m recalling that black pickguard with the holes that lined up so perfectly. Hey, J! Btw, (wow, alliteration) anyway, you might wanna check on a little magnetic container for those allen wrenches. Then you can stick it on the back of the headstock between the machine heads. I’ll let you know if I see one. Good work on another fine video buddy. Beautiful guitar too! Adios! P.s. I remember now Philip McKnight had a magnetic box for an Allen wrench, which he stuck on the machine heads. I’ll let you know if I find it.
Hey man! Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about... A small clip that screws on to the back of the headstock to hold the Allan keys... Forgot about that! Thanks 😃
iPod, better plug it in😱 Man that is beautiful! Sounds great too! You definitely scored on that one. I had that lucky bridge post screw in no mods! Always nice for something to work out! Keeper?
Interesting!!!! That blue sparkle finish on this guitar really does resemble the new Epiphone version of the David Grohl DG-335, doesn’t it?!? The Epiphone DG-335 was literally just released a few days ago, so I don’t think Westcreek was trying to copy it, but they sure do have availability of their Pebble Blue 333 at an opportune moment to capitalize on, don’t they?!? It sure doesn’t hurt that it’s roughly 1/6th the price of the Epiphone model, either! It looks like that MusicLily roller bridge actually worked out a LOT better than I would have expected! If memory serves me correctly, it is NOT the same design as the roller bridges 2bikemike has used, which are not locking ones like this one. This one looks like it allows PLENTY of room to go even lower if needed, and it looks like it has virtually no slop in the posts, either. I guess time will tell if you’ll end up putting Tele pickups on this one, too. 😂 If it were me, I’d say the stock pickups really don’t sound bad at all, but if you wanted to swap them, I’d suggest humbucker-shaped P90’s, since it’s the style of guitar that really calls for something with a bit more girth than a Tele, and P90’s give you both a bit of girth AND a bit of single coil chime. SUPER NICE guitar though… I might just have to get one of these next! Either that, or a Thinline Tele… Though my bet it would be that this one has a slightly more resonant and jazzy tone than a Thinline Tele.
You’re 100% on everything buddy! I think Dave copied Westcreek's color hahaha. Super nice guitar and bridge! And yes more resonant than a thinking by an extra F-hole hahaha!
@@j-man9457Actually, I think Gibson may have had that color available originally as well, so who knows… I’m pretty sure the Gibson DG-335 would be even more $$$$ than both Westcreek AND this new Epiphone model too, though! But since the Dave Grohl model was also basically just a “copy” of the Trini Lopez model, I guess we can blame all alleged plagiarism on DG to begin with, right? 😂😂😂 I’m also not sure how the 333 compares to similar models like the IYV IJZ-300 or the Grote GR35, but from the examples you’ve shown in your videos, I’d say it looks like the Westcreek has noticeably better fit-and-finish than more recent IYVs.
Can you tell me the width (not depth/thickness) of the body at its widest? Looks like just behind the f-holes or in that ballpark. I’m wondering how much bigger the body is than a Les Paul. Thanks for posting!
For their price range, I haven't seen anything in that price range yet that can compete. With a good set up, these guitars are gig capable instruments for a fraction of the price of a brand name model! It's a no brainer hahaha!
Yes, I have a question. Where's your affiliate link?! I have a Cerberus sitting next to me, and I may get a 333 thanks to your videos. You need to start getting commissions for these videos!
Hahaha thanks man! No affiliate link lol. Westcreek sends me any amazon returns or overstock guitars at a discount so it's a blessing just the same. Rock on!
@@j-man9457 heck yeah. I'm making my WestCreek Helios into a sort of hybrid style Single Cut. Invader clones from Artec. And speed knobs from Wilkinson
I noted how much gain you can get outta a pair of Invader clones. But my biggest issue is gonna be learning to properly wire in a setup for split coils. As those invaders can be pretty brutal and even flexible
You dont really know if the tuners are good until you have played a guitar for a while. if you do replace them i recommend the hipshot tuning machines.
So far so good, these tuners are great... I have hips hot locking staggered tuners on a custom build tele. They are ok but definitely not worth their price tag! Here in Canada they are as much as I paid for this 333 guitar lol! I like the NextGen tuners sold here in Canada and also the Musiclily Ultra line tuners. Great bang for the buck!😁
@@j-man9457 Agreed, I don’t think it’s necessarily bad at all. MANY cheaper semi-hollow guitars, including my IYV IPF-300, and I think also the Firefly FF338, don’t have kerfing either-as you say, it’s already structurally pretty sound… Kerfing would just make it… Shall we say, a bit classier. 😜
