Yeah, he'd be perfect for a feud with someone. He's kind of like Raven except his promos actually make sense. I hope they team him up with another heel or two, or at the very least put him in prospect to round out that group.
They are listed as "comedies" (notice the quotation marks). This is a wrestling match. For a thing which didn't promise anything funny, it sure made me laugh a lot more than movies that promise "comedy". On the other hand, why do I still believe that anything starring Adam Sandler can still be funny? I don't know, must be the child in me.
SPOILER I'm not ashamed to admit I marked out harder than I ever have before when he hit the Sable Bomb - and just as it should be, the moment he finally hits it gives him a big win. I screamed 'YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS' when he got the pin, Martin Kirby is such a joy to watch both from a comedy standpoint and a technical wrestling standpoint and the way they've written and pushed him is honestly great - I can tell the have big things planned for him by having him go over all these veterans. And the best bit is they've managed to do it while keeping the funny in, which is something I honestly didn't expect they would pull off. WCPW has the best character arcs in the business right now between Kirby, Conners, Hendry, Damo and Rampage.
I can't be the only one that thought Martin Kirby was gonna put himself in a head scissor with Will Ospreay's legs during that whole head scissor train thing. Kirby finally connected with the Sable Bomb, maybe one day we'll actually get to see that elbow thing he never gets to do.
I'm going to be completely honest. This was one of the best wrestling matches I've ever seen. So entertaining, even the silly moments add something special in them. Brilliant.
He has a good few years before he polishes off his skills to perfection he needs to chill with the jumping moves because when he misses it looks terrible
I stopped watching wrestling for a couple of months and this is the first thing I've seen since coming back to it. Cracking decision! That was excellent in every way.
Mad props to all the people behind wcpw. You've got the talent and you know how to use it, its super refreshing after years of wwe and tna being so boring.
It's matches like these you realise how much talent is in the roster! Happy Kirby got the win but Dunn and Scurll deserve a few wins under their belt soon! Was also highly impressed by Banks this match too!
Martin Kirby is brilliant I really love how he started off as really goofy, had a losing streak and no one took him seriously, but he always puts on great matches and is entertaining as hell, it's good that he is getting some momentum, but keeping him that little bit goofy, missing the zoidberg elbow, doing things a little bit different in the ring, he is just great.
yea that would be great plus I believe that's where Martin Kirby will get his true push at first with that or the tag titles with Travis banks cause I feel like they could do a team hell no type of tag team
That was top notch on so many levels. A 25 minute exceptionally athletic Marx Brothers-like wrestling match. Wrestling is supposed to be entertaining, and that was on multiple levels Bravo
One thing I really like about WCPW is that they're hearing the crowd and comments and if they book someone to be insignificant and they get a great pop, they book them stronger and stronger.
I have never wanted to slap the glasses off of another human being as badly as I want to slap the glasses off of Pacitti. Such a natural heel lol Great show guys.
@lioni a multi man match with 4 briefaces on poles. One world champ, one tag, one x division, and one exit slip. usually the one that gets that exip slip is legit leaving the company. but whoever gets the other briefcases are owed a title shot.
Amazing booking, you can see that they put the more "famous" indie wrestlers in a square off with lesser known ones in an attempt to build each star's credibility. Something that TNA should have started doing a LONG time ago..
the only thing I dislike about the commentary is alex kinda copying king ross. praise ameen saying he was with kirby from the start supporting the heelish unlikeable characters. apart from that I like it
How exactly is Scurll getting hurt during the Boston crab chain. It can be argued that getting rolled over increased the pressure of the head scissors on the others. I get that but how was Marty getting hurt, he was literally just on his knees screaming for no reason.
That match was weird...so many telegraphed spots, but the human centipede Boston crab was hilarious and probably one of the most entertaining finishes I've seen in years
Traditionally, fatal 5 ways are regular matches with 5 participants. The only standard rule ignored is supposed to be the count out. Sometime over the last decade and a bit, between TNA and WWE, they've managed to make the idea of triple threats and other multi-opponent matches as defacto no DQ, but that wasn't always the case. Even as recently as the Attitude Era you can find WCW and WWF/E matches rope breaks and foreign objects and participants could lead to no-contests. Even in some no DQ matches in some promotions, though really unenforceable as a rope break, rope contact would initiate a change in position for a referee from one awaiting the submission of the hold victim to calling a no contest if the aggressor didn't break the hold.
