West Coast Shaving has another fabulous shaving brush to add to your collection. Since its inception in 2007, WCS has been about bringing you wet shaving goods to level up your shaving game.
This shaving brush is loaded with WCS’s widely popular synthetic hair in a 26mm knot. That dense, large knot will give you lots and lots of lather. The backbone of this loft lets you lather soaps and creams alike, and it even feels great on your face. We also like the fancy black tips on the white hair as it complements that handle.
Speaking of the handle, this lovely grooming utensil has a two-toned base. The clear, acrylic bottom provides a nice study platform. Then it is topped with a stunning burl wood to add a bit of drama. The bottom is also embedded with a WCS coin, which looks great when the brush is hanging in a stand to dry.

Hello Chuck, Thank you for your comments and viewership. The Soloist is a clear standout in the scent category. One of my all-time favorite scents, actually. Regarding the crystal skull, it’s a nice addition to any den and has the perfect dimensions for brush soaking. Glad yo hear you found something to do the job for you. Especially one that bears sentiment.

Really starting to understand the importance of the blade from watching your videos it’s so true as that what actually cuts your hair you can have a amazing razor but if the blade is no good you won’t get a good shave. Really looking forward to seeing your top 5 blades as know you have used a lot and have a lot of experience. Right now I absolutely love you’re videos and my favourite to watch

@WestCoastShaving This is such a great informational detailed educational breakdown of various wet shaving products. Watching wet shavers like you helps me improve my wet shaving technique. I'm still learning and consider myself an eternal learner of traditional wet shaving. So far, my favorite top 3 blades are 1) Astra Blues, 2) Astra Greens, 3) Feathers. I'm very limited to shaving brushes since I only used 3 types and all synthetic. I had a bad reaction to a boar brush. I am developing my preference in shaving brushes. I love the handle on RazoRock 400 Synthetic Shaving Brush with Noir Plissoft for the grip I can do with it, I wish it was longer the handle. I love the Je&Co. Luxury Synthetic Shaving Brush with Aesthetic Resin Handle, 24mm Extra Dense Knot for the backbone density. I would love a combination of each feature in 1 brush. I’m enjoying your engagement with these videos. Like many, you bring a unique perspective to the conversation. I think maintaining a "learners" mentality is a good attitude and approach to the hobby. I’m going on 8 years in this hobby and I’m still learning new things through my experiences and engagement with gentlemen like yourself. It sounds like you’ve gravitated to synthetic knots. I’m partial to them as well. They provide affordability, luxury, convenience, and stellar performance. I enjoy a good badger knot, but synthetics have their place in my den. As far as blades go, I think your top 3 are solid selections. Blades are perhaps the most subjective part of the traditional shaving process. It really comes down to your skin's response to the material and finish.

Nicely done Eric🪒🪒 I've got a couple of burlwood/resin brushes, beautiful specimens that so far have no signs of injury. Being able to see the wood inside the resin is amazing, they weren't inexpensive being badger though. Great video and results with lots of info, thanks. Stay blessed brother.

Always great to see your comments, brother. Glad to hear your wood brushes have maintained their original form. I have a Lutin brush that is still in prime condition. Although, the coating has worn a bit with water exposure over time. That one also has a unique badger knot that took the price point over the $150 mark. Hope you and your family are blessed!

my Simpson T3 Trafalgar is the best brush on the market today it's like buying a $200 badger hair brush, no cleaning the brush, no need for a brush stand, fast drying time, well not fall apart like a badger hair can, cheap to buy, i have owned it for 5 years with know problems wheelchair Larry

Gillette Green (permasharp) are my favourite blades currently. I started with Feathers, then moved to Gillette black, then to Gillette Wilkonson swords, then to Gillette Green and man they are awesome on my razor (parker 97R). They have the perfect balance of smoothness and sharpness for me. Feathers were too sharp for an aggressive razor but great in my first mild shaver. Wilkenswords were too mild and felt like tugging. Greens are awesome and they are super cheap where I live, I mean super cheap, you won’t even believe how cheap ($2.9 for a 100 blades, yes you read that right) Since they are so cheap, I don’t shave twice with a blade, I can but the first shave is the best and smoothest so I use a fresh blade every shave. My dad is a cartilage razor shaver and he uses a mach 3 cartilage for a few weeks maybe and I feel like mocking him saying I use a fresh sharp blade every shave but he won’t ditch his Mach 3, trust me I have tried. Hello KR, Thank you for providing your perspective on the blade conversation. $2.90 for 100 Gillette Super Stainless blades is insanely good! 😯 I agree that they are affordable, but I’ve never seen them that cheap anywhere I have access to. The PermaSharp version of the Super Stainless blades are ones that I still need to experiment with. Perhaps I’ll pick up a tuck with my next shaving purchase. I’m intrigued.

Great vid Eric. Like all the info. Seems like a great brush and soap scent. I use a similar initial cleaning method for synthetics. For natural hairs i soak all knots and do a round with dawn then Zingariman. I’ll let the zman sit in the brush for about 15 mins then rinse. If the natural brush has a bad animal smell I’ll lather a stronger scent soap and let it sit in the knot for 8 hours or so then rinse. Blades are the cheapest way to change or dial in a shave. They are too cheap to use a blade that doesn’t work and there are so many. Have a good one.

Hello Chris, I appreciate your viewership. Thank you for sharing your brush care routine. I may adopt your 15 minute sitting method to allow the cleaner to saturate the hair/fibers thoroughly. Great perspective on blades. I think your assertion is correct; blades are the most affordable tweak you can make to improve your overall shaving experience.

Brother Eric, your videos are excellent! Outstanding presentation and very informative. I like the shape of the WCS Honeycomb brushes, especially the rounder end. How would you compare this Clear Smoke to them? Are the handles of similar length? Do they use the same synthetic fibers? Makes a difficult choice! The Lord's best to you, Dave

Hello RHDave, Thank you for your viewership and kind comments. I very much appreciate all of it. The shapes are slightly different as well as the exterior texture of the brushes. The Clear Smoke is more rounded at the top of the handle and is glassy smooth to the touch. The height of both brushes is comparable as well as the softness and feel of the synthetic fibers. It’s all going to come down to aesthetics in my view.
