[WCT USA] - Group B - The Unknown Project v Antidote PK 

Hi - hope everyone is good!!! For WCT merch, check out the link: teespring.com/stores/world-chase-tag-2 A couple things to address in this match: Firstly, the cap incident in Chase 16. Before the event started, a few athletes were asking what happens if any articles of clothing come loose during a chase and create a trip / slip hazard for their opponent. As this is a new sport, we hadn't actually made a ruling on this so we talked to all the teams about it - some people thought accessories (eg hats) should be banned, others thought they should be able to wear what they want. We came up with a compromise - athletes can wear what they want but if an article of clothing comes off during a chase and their opponent tags it, they lose the chase. So in Chase 16 (as things stood at the time), if Sean would have tagged Laine's cap, Sean would have won the chase. As it turns out he got the tag anyway but that was what all the confusion was about (in case you were wondering). We're not sure what we'll do about this in the future but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts. Secondly, this was the first Sudden Death Chase-Off of WCT USA. For those that don't know, if a match ends in a draw, we go to a Sudden Death Chase-Off. This consists of 2 x 20 second chases. Each team gets to Evade and teams can send out any athlete they want. Whichever team gets the longest Evasion time wins. As far the group tables are concerned, each team gets 1 point for a draw and the winner of the Sudden Death Chase-Off gets a bonus point. Everyone on both teams played phenomenonally, but Joseph, Laine and Chris were definitely the stars of The Unknown Project today.

A good chunk of The Unknown Projects chases were made on the tilted cube, and the loading bay, many of which they dived through bars 0:40, 1:28, 4:08, 7:10, 11:28.

Duuuude you make me feel repetitive but THIS match was so tense and squared. First Antidote's point was amazing, and the sudden death was more tension to be added. Holy heck, I can't wait to see more!

All the chases were amazing, but I just can't get over Laine picking up his hat and being just a millisecond away from making the evasion 8:58.

I love the sportsmanship! Nobody tries to hide a tag from a referee if they felt it. And the “disputed tag reviews” I’ve seen have all been a simple issue of timing. Just a wonderful sport to watch! Thanks for posting these!

That hat play on the chase before sudden death was bold, speaking of sudden death it’s the 1st time we have seen it in WCT-USA however I have a feeling it’s definitely not the last with the level of competitiveness this tournament has!

Pretty cool match, I was rooting for the Antidote, but Unknown is also so good.

The sport is awesome, and I’m glad to see it evolving and improving. I think a huge improvement could be made to the scoring system. I would score 4 points for a tag under 5 seconds, 3 points for a tag under 10 seconds, 2 points for a tag under 15 seconds, 1 point for a tag under 20 seconds, and 5 (maybe more) points if you evade. This way an evasion is still a massive advantage but you can also win the match by tagging fast or evading longer than the other team. It would make every second more impactful and by extension more exciting.
