This hymn was sung by my brother and his quorum when I was baptized at the age of 12. I was brought up into many religions as my parents split and remarried, but my siblings remained strong in the faith. When I finally was baptized though and heard this hymn sung and followed up by The Spirit of God... I could not contain my tears, I have never felt the spirit so strong before... I knew this was the true Gospel from then and there..
That my friend is the true gospel and God and his son telling you that you have made the best choice for your life, your experience is exactly like mine and I'm proud of you and our brothers and sisters in the gospel!!! Stay strong my friend!!!
Sounds similar to my "conversion" only I was 9 or 10 and sang this song and The Spirit of God and I knew throughout every part of my being that this is God's only true church and fullness of His Gospel and that I was to go on a mission one day. Being a girl I forgot about the mission part. My rebellious behavior nearly caused me to not make it on a mission, but when my Grandpa told me that I was to go and that it would be the most important thing I could do in this life, aside from being a mother in Zion, then the feelings came back from that day in primary singing these songs and I remembered, yes, I was to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I successfully served the people of Buenos Aires Argentina in the late 90's-00's!
I sang this song add FSY I have not cried in three years but this song made me cry when I was singing it with my fellow LDS members God is real and he loves you amen
This hits so hard I sang this at fsy yesterday, bro! And yes, it's been like 3 years since I've had a good cry, and this experience had me cooked. This will forever be on my playlist.
Congrats kid! Let me tell you the gospel is true! I am 19 and been a member for 7 years. It is an amazing thing. The best advice I can give you is be nice to people and read your scriptures everyday! I didn't always live the gospel and I want you to learn from me and do what is right. You are a beloved child of God! :D I wish you luck on your life journey kid. :D
Thank you heaps Brethren for the wonderful and uplifting hymn! I am blessed to be listening to this wonderful rendition from such vibrant group of missionaries!
I always wanted to leave and serve a mission. I have relialized recently my whole life has prepared me for now and that my whole life has been a mission.
In 1999, my wife & I sang this with our twins sons (both headed for Brazil) at the MTC as the closing song before they entered (and we left painfully empty-handed). They both completed their missions, but things were never quite the same. (When they returned, there were FAR fewer father & son outings & projects. They were grown men, looking for wives.) To this day it ALWAYS makes me cry.
Did that at FSY summer of 2022 and young women too I’m not sure if it’s 2000 men but at least 500 or so. It’s just chills and I want this sung at one of my sons baptisms or maybe all of them.
1.We have been born, as Nephi of old, To goodly parents who love the Lord. We have been taught, and we understand, That we must do as the Lord commands. 2.We have been saved for these latter days To build the kingdom in righteous ways. We hear the words our prophet declares: “Let each who’s worthy go forth and share.” 3.We know his plan, and we will prepare, Increase our knowledge through study and prayer. Daily we’ll learn until we are called To take the gospel to all the world. We are as the army of Helaman. We have been taught in our youth. And we will be the Lord’s missionaries To bring the world his truth.
You have no Idea just how much this song has done for me in my life, never having had another righteous male in my life, seeing the other kids and parents, and knowing that not all adults are that way, it means so much to me, thank you.
I love this hymn. Especially the EFY version with Sisters of Zion. I sung it with my multistake group at Youth Conference yesterday and I felt the spirit so so strongly. Music is my language and when I hear this I almost tear up everytime.
I recently just went to FSY last week and I loved it, you could really feel the spirit and it makes you proud to be of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints
I got back from fsy today. We sung this song on the last day with the women and the men. I haven't cried in 2 years. I couldn't make it half way without balling my eyes out. God speaks through music so strongly and it's wild.
This song reminds me always my time on his mission for best two years of my life. It's a great spirit as missionary you carry to teach our brothers and sisters about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I’m a member of the church and I’m going to be singing this next week on Sunday with all the youth in my church…. I’m so excited.. I might cry bc my grandma passed away in March and she really loved this song and when we sing it it’s gonna be so beautiful
Can't help but to think of this song as President Nelson and other church leaders in the recent conference calling for more people to serve missions. Love the church. Love the living prophet!

I absolutely love this song. Just sends shivers down my spine as I listen to this. Seeing these righteous young men singing along these adult men is so awesome.
Brethren, you take me back to Germany, 1961. I'm 84, a widower and remain active, sitting here reading Das Buch Mormon. True memories ripen over the years. This was 8 years ago. Where are you now?
This is one of my favorites. I like to play hymns when I have insomnia and when I feel unsafe. The spirit is always there to comfort me and calm me down
I’ve been having trouble sleeping for the last couple days and I’ve been listening to this song. It touches me so much and I’m so glad that this song was sang for conference.
I served as music chair and chorister my entire time in a Rexburg YSA Ward. During my last semester, my Bishop let me make copies of this out of the Primary Song Book and distribute them to sing for our closing hymn one Sunday. It was so nice for so many reasons.
“We are *now* the armies of Helaman.” Never has a hymn struck such strength within my heart. Being a missionary was hard. But I remember singing this at the MTC. Arms around my fellow elders. Those 3 weeks had made us brothers. Our final hymn as my comp and I left in the morning. I wish I could relive that again and again.

This song has always felt special to me in some way. Proabably because this hym was sung on my birthday or something, but that's not the point. The point is that everytime I listen to this song not only does it fill me with the spirit, but it gives me chills. Like imagine hearing this being sung by an army of U.S soldiers or any soldier from any nation for that matter. Just imagine an army singing it in unison whilst marching to battle! amazing right! man I freaking love this song so much!!!!
This is the most beautiful rendition of this hymn I have ever heard. The harmony is incredible and the ending is epic. There is nothing more powerful or beautiful than the harmony of an all male choir. Brethren you nailed it. Extremely well done.
