An old infanty trick is too put your walking stick on top ahd in front of your ruksac like it was your rifle, that way you won`t forget as you have to pick it up before putting your ruksac on . and it keeps your rifle out of the dirt by the way. Keep on tabbing your way south..... 😎😸🤘
Thanks for all the memories this is bringing back. When my crew reached Arapahoe Valley Ranch we were disappointed to find the gate closed as the whole place had been rented out for some sort of mini Burning Man festival. Some one noticed us and let us in anyway and ended up hanging out that morning with a bunch of very hungover ravers.
After thru-hikes on the PCT and AT, I hiked the CDT in 4 sections mainly because I was working on ships at the time and had only 2-3 month time blocks available plus I was already in my mid 50s (past my hiking prime). I have to say, it made for a very pleasant, leisurely hike without the pressure of finishing before the end of the hiking season. I also avoided much of the snow pack in CO which can make for some very grueling hiking. I went back recently and hiked the CO trail from Denver to Durango.
Watch out for falling trees, widow makers all over the divide. Pine beatles have devastated the forests, entire mountain sides of brown dead pine. You guys are awsome!
It seems like you've finally gotten away from all the bugs.. I bet that's a relief..! I love those old mountain towns.. thanks for sharing a glimpse..!

Hope that weather will cooperate with you when you hike through Collegiate Peaks and San Juans. It is getting to be quite late in the season. Weather forecast looks good beside Sunday. Collegiate Peaks may see some snow. Glad you got better pad and new leggings. Not sure it will be enough. And, what about your sleeping bag?
We got thunderstorms like crazy in this area, then slept like a rock! We were on trail back down to where you started then got creeked out and could not find the trail! We were so late but luckily the ranger was there and gave us a ride back 5 miles to our car! Have fun and yes more weather is coming! Enjoy those warm leggings!

She has to work while she hikes; not exactly “rich person” behavior. Probably doesn’t have any debt or housing to pay for. Combine no debt and a steady income and you can do anything
If you follow her channel you will find she has a couple of college degrees, she works as a hospital nutritionist between hikes and has her stuff together. If she were my daughter I would be very proud.
When I'm hiking the three things I forget the most are my sunglasses, my poles, and my charger. So I constantly have that list in my head because it's a short list and I'm constantly making sure I have those three things and it works. Even when I'm walking I check the list and it makes me feel good. Sunglasses I can live without, poles and charger I cannot. Pick the three things you don't want to forget and start a new habit. You will not regret it.
