To be honest, I’m glad Luz and Amity had their first kiss during “Clouds on the Horizon”. It would’ve been cool to have it here, but Dana said the reason why it was cut was because Luz was going through some emotional stuff at that time and she wanted the kiss to be impactful. I like what Dana decided on here. That’s why her and The Owl House crew are such great and creative people. Sometimes the hardest decisions, are often the right ones.

That was just what I was thinking. Dana definitely picked a better moment for the kiss. Luz' whole deal during this episode would have made it a bittersweet moment at best.

@@tuschman168yes, and I feel like it would also have sent a bad message to kids watching the show that ‘it’s okay to do something very special/intimate with someone during an extremely vulnerable or emotional time.’ 👀 🤦🏼Not the message you want to send kids. Besides, waiting built it up too! Worth it! Not to mention that I didn’t honestly think they’d even take it that far. I thought the kiss on the cheek was wild for a Disney cartoon. Even though it’s ‘technically’ for kids, it’s not for *little* kids.

What we got was better. In this case, their first kiss happened partially out of Luz’s pain instead of pure love like what we were given in Clouds on the Horizon

I can see why this Dana didn’t put this for “Reaching Out.” They had to cut it because of all the emotional stuff Luz was going through. But she did saved it for “Clouds of the Horizons” and you gotta admit, it definitely was worth it. Dana made a very wise decision here.

It's good that this got cut because it would have overshadowed the whole point of the episode, which is Luz's grief. I also think that the other Lumity scenes such as the tree scene felt more genuine.

This might be the first time I'm happy we didn't get this scene. Don't get me wrong, it's a good scene, but I think it might have felt overshadowed in comparison with Luz and Amity talk under the tree beforehand, or it might be the opposite and the kiss itself overshadows the tree scene. Between this and the one we got in the show, I prefer the latter.

I'm also glad to know that they deleted this scene, RO was about Luz's depression and mourning, so a kiss at that moment would only be something forced or unromantic My only problem with COTH is that we needed a little more drama, but it's still okay

It's a really cute scene, but i think that their first kiss in Clouds on the Horizon is more impactful And it melted me, I'm a sucker for romance And when I first saw that kiss I bacame determined to do something amazing There's a guy I like, my best friend, virtually, but it still counts We plan to live in the same city, even share an apartment if we can I plan to set up a "date" Luz is my inspiration, which is curious because I have a personality more similar to Amity's XD.

This would've been VERY out of place in reaching out. Reaching Out dealt more with the emotional stuff Luz was going through, and addressing her grief. It had a lot of nice lumity moments in the episode, but given that Luz was acting off and was trying to distract herself for the whole episode. this was much better saved for Clouds on the Horizon, and Dana made a very good call here! :)

I'm in film school studying animation, and I picked Daun Han's work for The Owl House to analyze for one of my assignments in my storyboarding class last November! She worked on multiple episodes of the show as a freelance artist; she's incredibly talented, and I would absolutely recommend looking up her storyboards! There are quite a few interesting things like this that ended up being cut for one reason or another, it's really fascinating to see how parts of the story evolved over different iterations.

Well they actually said one time “why is this still so scary….” “I dunno” XD but I’m guessing because if you get to be with person you want it can be a bit hard just go into lovey dovey mode since it really just happened. In this case it was their first kiss, and that’s a big deal!! Amity is def the one who gets more flustered which is why she is more shocked then Luz is

This could prove extremely useful in case an alternate universe take on the events of the episode becomes a mainstay for a Multiversal observation journey storyline. Just because it didn't happen in the "prime universe" doesn't mean others can't... just look at how the Revolutionary Girl Utena anime, the Adolescence of Utena movie, and the Revolutionary Girl Utena manga do things differently on their otherwise same notable events.

Im glad Dana went with the direction she went for. This is a sweet but still sad moment, Luz is going through a hell of a lot here and making it romantic feels kinda off. Their first kiss was properly build up and everything about it was super romantic. It worked much better.
