Congrats on your baby, and thanks for sharing. Awesome Rabbit Hutch. Wow, looks really amazing and love the excitement your son is having too. Great learning experience for everyone! Hope you all have a Safe and Happy rest of your week!
Congratulations on the baby 👍 so excited for you all 🤗 I have no idea about rabbits I hunted rabbits in my younger days for eating. I have to catch up on your channel. Life is so crazy. Thank you for sharing
Wabbit season! Is that hutch from IKEA? That's something Jean would have to put together without me as I bring her beverages. That is a neat idea to have a separation door to shut should they not get along. I need one of those for my kids lol.
Hey I found your channel, I had that hutch before, worked pretty well but when you pull the trays to clean it you have to put your bunnies somewhere bc the whole floor out basically. Also find something to spray the metal with bc it starts to rust with the pee. Things I didn’t think about at the time until it was too late 😂 also get yourself a dog playpen to put around the hutch to give them more room since you were wanting to bond 2 females together. If you need help checking the sex of them I’ll have steven do it fit you, he’s good at it. Harder to check when they are little bc their “parts” are smaller 😂
Lol. We were going to get a dog play pen to put them in when we got home. I thought about putting down some bedding or hay and having Goober clean it out and just put it in the compost. Should I make it two separate boxes or keep them as one with two levels and let them roam in there together?
I have 4 mini rexes and they are the meanest of all my rabbits. Mine are the blue variety. A lot is gonna depend on your source as far as price. I've gotten some from mennonites for like 2 bucks each at the small animal auction they have. I can get registered rabbits at local rabbitries for around 50. I don't know that I'd put 2 in there. 2 males will fight(among other things). Female will castrate males and he won't leave her be. They can be approaching sexual maturity at 6 weeks. There are some websites that will list all registered rabbitries. I will say rabbits turn into a lot quite quickly. I go through about 10 times the feed with the rabbits as the 15 chickens. Nice hutch, I've known some ppl to have the tsc chicken coops and hutches and they just use inferior materials so they don't hold up. What type of floor is in that one? If hardware cloth that is not good for them. Should have ½"x1" actual cage wire.
It uses a sheet of tin. I was going to put some kind of bedding in. Still gotta research that. So I could just have them sealed off and use it as two separate hutches. They will have daily handling time as well as some structured roaming.
@@OffKilterHomestead you can use pine shavings or hay for bedding. It turns into a mess quite quickly. We handle most of our 40 pretty much daily. I don't let them on the ground due to parasites and to many greens really aren't good for them. This is especially true under 6 months.
Hey get the pallet litter! You will thank me! It’s heavier material so doesn’t blow out like shavings does, also they will poop as they eat so hang you food with a box 📦 where bunny has to jump in the box or tray to get to the food so they will start pooping in the box or tray for easier clean up. Once they start pooping in one area they will keep doing it in the same spot once you get them trained
@@OffKilterHomestead just seen there are more cases of RHDV2 an almost certain death sentence for rabbits. May want to make sure they are vaccinated. If not see to it, can be transmitted through hay, humans, wild rabbits. Any show rabbits will have to be tattooed anyhow. It's also needed for vaccination.
