I can't speak for everyone on here, but as a faithful subscriber/watcher of the channel, I just enjoy your personalities, your interactions, the authenticity you display, the work you get done (and don't) and the music/editing (Friday is a great day for your postings btw), it's very enjoyable/relaxing content. If you're feeling pressure about the reno and channel in general, it seems very wise to pivot. But, you should know - your content is best when you're just being yourselves and sharing what you're doing. I don't care if you finish your house - I'm never done with mine! Cheers to both of you, looking forward to whatever you decide to do next!

Same. I came here years ago for carpentry ideas and stayed for the reasons you listed. It's my partner and mine's "thing" to check each weekend for a new "Scott Brown" video. I often make the same dad joke to my partner when I'm doing reno's and enter the room, "Hey guys, Scott Brown here!". We're sad we can't watch another "Scott Brown video" for now, but understand. Have a good rest Scott and Jess, and when you're both ready, we'd love to see some video's of your new wood working course and what you both are up to!

I agree, I started watching Scotts videos years ago because of the pull out drawers on his van. I then came back to it a few years later and loved watching the projects, the scenery, interactions with the different people you worked with, it’s just super relaxing. I was scared to watch this video as I thought you were done with it forever 😊

We are living in our granny flat. It needs 2half sheets to finish it… it needs plaster & paint. Its good enough. Im doing our main house. It still needs half the walls done, ceiling, plaster & paint & other half of the power to put in. Every time i come to a tricky bit i sit on it for weeks before i think “just get in & make a start”, & while its definitely tricky & takes a while, im always glad to get over that hump & finish that bit off. Its definitely a struggle on a long build😊

Guys I know exactly how you feel, I built a home during 2020 and managed to move in Christmas 2020, to basically a building site, scratched my way along to having some rooms ready and then a brick wall. I've done nothing on the house apart from put in the stairs to the first floor, after I fell off the ladder and needing 11 stiches in my arm.... but for sure your doing the right thing, life is hard enough without taking a breather and time for yourself. I was always warned about moving into the house before it's fully completed, you just don't finish anything and anything you start to to, you get totally distracted by all the other jobs needing to be done and you end up finishing nothing...... Anyway you do you, love your content and will try watch historical videos you have up here for the hell of it.

My friends from afar. I want you to know that I really love you two, and everyone you have had on your projects. I have left a couple constructive comments before, but always give credit and thanks to you both for what you give us. (and most of us for absolutely free) I am an American high end finish carpenter that started with working in a cabinet shop sanding doors and drawer fronts. I did a plastering apprenticeship, but ended in woodworking, that led me to building cabinets for and then later installing cabinets for yachts. then I was a marine carpenter later becoming a full blown shipwright. this led me to staring my own company and completing many luxurious projects all over the USA. I started watching your videos because of the type of work and projects that you were doing. to be honest. I really miss the outside work. the home repairs don't compare to the job projects. I have not watched as many videos because I think , "oh another tool review or home diy project." i want to be excited for the next video again, and gosh darn it, we must have a smoko! i love you guys and I want to see less about fancy tools and more about fancy carpentry. ( OFF SITE... NOT YOUR HOUSE EVERY WEEK) its that burnt out feel.

I've been a 'fan' of the Chanel for a very long time, but didn't really think about why I watch. This video made me think about it and I realised it was nothing to do with the building- it's all about the easy listening/watching. You guys are so nice and easy to watch. A bit like BBC radio 2 which has older DJs that have great voices and the music is from the 70s through to the early 00s. Quintessential no stress easy listening enjoyment. I’ve completely renovated 3 houses of my own and I know exactly how it feels to burn out. 2 I completely finished before moving in and 1 was as you’re doing - renovated a bedroom and moved in while completed everything else. Both ways are draining, because you spend tons of money and also put in a lot of time working without pay. So it feels like a double hit. In the end it’s a great way to save money and build wealth but it’s definitely challenging. Scott with the amount of knowledge you now have id recommend general contracting and subbing out as much as you can. Make a little less but gain a lot of time. Opportunity cost.

Hey Scott and Jess, stumbled on your channel after searching for some DIY videos on making outdoor stairs. It's been great watching all your videos from some from NZ, too bad you're not in Auckland where I can visit! Have a good break (:

Much love from Denmark❤️ you create the best and most meaningfull content for me and I will be sticking around to see how things develop. I have been enjoying the channel for many years and have learned so much that I have implemented in my own business. So thanks! Btw, what was the title of that book?

Jess & Scott, Your videos have been a complete inspiration, on top of the information and entertainment. I just taught my students last week how to build the insulation jig you made. We will use it this week 🎉 We are all looking forward to seeing the chair building adventure, what a treat. Thanks for your raw honesty and sharing your heart for the world to see. ❤ Cheers from Western North Carolina

I have loved every episode of you, including this one. You guys always seem to motivate me, even when you’re taking a break. Getting some time off reno can be necessary and I am curious with what you’ll come up with!

I don’t leave many comments on here, but I can’t not this time. Honestly guys, You do you! Like they say, “energy flows where attention goes” If you’re having fun/finding enjoyment in project, then so are we! So you need to follow what makes you smile. As someone who works in a creative industry, and also on the tail end of a f*****g long house Reno in my time off (5yrs and not finished 😢) I couldn’t understand how you feel more. When you’re passionate about what you do, it’s impossible not to get burnt out. When that happens you need no one’s permission or approval to take a break. P.s My Scottish mother in law always says “a change is as good as a holiday” so this really made me smile 😊 We’re proud of you both (I know that’s probably weird to hear from a complete stranger, but sometimes it’s nice to hear. Thanks for all the great videos.

Definitely not surprised. I am 100% there with you because the same happened to me. But the projects in the house weren't finished. So hopefully you take each home project in stride because they aren't going to complete themselves. I know this for sure. Excited for the chair video.

Thankyou Scott and Jess, I cant imagine how exhausting it would be to try and document the rennovations. So pleased to hear you are taking a break. Make time to enjoy and appreciate the simple things. I did a green woodworking chair making course last year - BEST 8 days i've ever spent making - no power tools ! draw knives, treadle lathes etc. Much as i like the channel I hope you don't make a video about the chair course and take the time to immerse yourself fully in the making and learning.

The break from the renovation sounds like a great idea and I'm excited to see what you do with it. Resonated a bit with me on my own renovation project and made me realize why I've been struggling to push it forward at times. I just want it done so I can work on other things! I think I would do the same thing if I wont the lottery

I have watched most of your videos, and that’s down to your charisma, crisp production and pace, well considered material and general effort expended. You have worked hard, enjoy the break and look forward to the reset 👍

I love your youtube channel, you really restarted my love of woodwork and building things which saved our mortgage payments during covid when I couldn't shoot weddings. As much as I love your channel, I'd take more enjoyment knowing that you and Jess were healthy and happy even if it meant fewer or even no more youtube videos. Be well mate, youtube and your followers will be here when you choose to come back.

Wow. This video just made me realise I’m in the same situation. I’ve commented on your progress before (I’m in Glasgow) I’ve been at it for 3 years now (complete house renovation and extension in 90 year old property) My day job (I’m self employed) is also on the tools, setting up for a days work just like I’m doing at home. I see my life passing me by, at 52 I should be taking off to the alps cycling and skiing like I used to before I started this. All my money, the house has sucked the life out of it, and me. The thing I hate the most is I’m tied to it, until I finish the job and get building control to sign it off (even then it’ll still need a year or so) it’s worthless. I haven’t taken any loans, the economy and covid has taken its toll on my business and I’m 100% shackled to this house. I miss riding my bike the most, just can’t spend all day cycling when I’m going upstairs to bed using ladders instead of a stairs. Your video makes me realise I’m not alone, thanks.

I have always associated scott brown Friday's as 'my unwind time' and thank you so much for all of your lives that you have poured into your channel. You both definitely deserve a break and as they say the wait will be worth it for another catch up. I found editing to be crazy time consuming, maybe consider outsourcing the editing to give you some spare time?
