The moment he said "are we ever gonna be better than this" My whole life up until now just flashed in front of me from the day me and family were so poor we couldn't afford to pay for high school to now when I'm in the final year of law school. Got my B.B.A. worked a white collar job for past 3 years and now gonna be starting my legal career. I watched this movie in my 8th grade when I was nothing just a 14 year kid wondering"are we really ever gonna be better than this" and to this day I still remember this line and everytime I hear it I only think of one thing "yes, I am gonna be better than this " This is not just a movie to me it's one of my life's turning points ❤️ I still got a long life ahead of me but this movie will always be a part of it 👍
I like the use of the line "Are we ever gonna be better than this?" To Cole the question is existential and painful but to the crowd it could be a question that makes them feel hype. It's a question that experience and tone change the meaning to. The line is surprisingly layered and I really enjoy the emotional weight of it.
Fun Fact: The song played was originally meant to be Icarus by Madeon, the original soundtrack producer, but was dubbed over by another song when he pulled out of production.
Hard to believe that a DJ movie and this scene gave me goosebumps. And those famous words-- "Are we ever gonna be better than this?"...those words have led to the downfall of many great talents
Makes me feel old. 30 year old adult and was a kid in my early twenties when this came out. Really captures the edm culture of that time. Squirrel reminds me of a guy I went to with high school with who I later ran into at a Duke Dumont show when I was 21. Cole reminds me of a guy I met in college during rush week that I used to see at clubs who dropped out of college to move to LA to go to music school and try to be a DJ and had a big porter robinson tattoo on his arm. All my PTO goes to raves now. I’ll be a kid at heart forever 😢
While I can see why this movie night not have been the best reviewed, I still love it. There's a lot of it that reminds me of my own life and shit I've been through with my friends.
I don't know who created this set, but it's one of the best, I so wished to be dancing on this...amazing...and I also believe this movie was snobbed ...I saw it a few times, but this ending scene is my fav!
I'm gonna go watch this movie again. I need the build up to this final moment to make me jump outta my seat and fist pump while flicking the light switch.
it's cool but a bit overexaggerated... not to say that "all djs do is just press play!!!!" but they def aren't creating the track like this on stage. fun film
He had been working on the song for a long time.. hence incorporating sounds he had been collection through memories .. hence why it’s called Cole’s memories
