Today we attempt to replicate the look of a Black to Gold ColorShift. There is no Black to Gold ColorShift or HyperShift Pearl at this time, so we had to improvise and see what we had available to us that may get the job done. Do you think we nailed it, or missed it on this one? Enjoy!

I’m not sure you hit gold. It’s more of a bronze with undertones of green but it looks incredible. I’d love to see video of this driving under street lights at night. Great job! My vote for the next attempt is blue pearl.

Fonzie, how would you say this is different from the gold microflakes you introduced last year? You did one half of a car with the gold flake over black (the other half was red I think). Similar result?

It would look pretty sick. What's even better is if you start with a metallic gold base, then do a wine red or other medium red tint, and then gold interference pearl over that. That would be amazing.

I messaged you guys a few years back about doing a space Grey to gold shift. Ended up working awesome and had the dip on my old car for about a year, looked satin grey but all the harsh edges had a gold flare coming through, played great with my rims at the time!

that looks frikken sick! if anything i think having only one layer thats not perfectly even adds to the effect. gives it a bit of smokeyness or some kind of character

Definitely nailed it. You need to get a 60s boat that has some good curves and body lines like a 64 Galaxie 500 and do some of you tests on. Yeah, you will need to use more product because of the size of the car, but you may open up a bigger market.

Knocked it out the park! I did something similar a while back using the red wheel dip on my rc car. It was shifting from a blood red to black. I had sent an e-mail to Brad at Product Support with some pics. It came out awesome.

I just got a pearl white Infinity Q50 yesterday, I wanna do this on some wheels. I love the subtle black and gold on white cars and this would be so cool/confusing as hell to most people. In a good way 😝 haha

This reminds me of the paint job that my dad had on his 03 GMC Sierra. The shift between colors is exactly the same, though instead of gold, it was a blue-purple.

Yep. Factory flip flop color GM did for a couple years. Its rare. Amd on anything other than the Camaro or firebirds was special order. It was called mystic teal metallic amd had a heavy blue-green-purple flop

I have a tumbler I powder coated that was a gold base fogged with black. The tumbler looks a bit brighter than the mustang there but not by much. I don't think black/gold color combinations in such a manner ever give the desired look. It just seems to end up like an antique bronze color to it.

Definitely a hit love it. Is what about a gold/purple hypershift using the black base only there’s a catch, it has to fade from gold to purple or vice versa along with not loosing the black role.

Yeah I think you pretty much nailed it. Totally agree with dropping the pearl concentration because the gold is juuuuuuust a tiny bit overaaturated for my taste. Definitely do it in other colors at that lower saturation!
