You can take trains from any of these locations to any of these locations (Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Alpine, Del Rio, El Paso, Fort Worth, Gainesville, and many other locations). The longest trip across the state would take around 3hrs and 45 minutes in a car, on the train it’s just under 3 hours. The most expensive trip interstate is $27 ROUNDTRIP. You can also take a train from any of these locations to any other Amtrak station in the country. This includes any state with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii. This is the prime example I love to use. I live in upstate, like VERY upstate NY. My grandparents live in central Florida over an hour away from the airport. I used to either fly down to visit them and rent a car, or drive down and it would take around 22 hours. I started taking the train last year. It is faster than driving, costs less (they are electric), and gets there in 16 hours. This allows me to board, settle in and sleep most of the way (I usually take the overnight route). The total round trip is just under $100. A lot of people LOVE to complain and say “we have no public transportation”, but we do, we always have- a lot of these complaints are made to fuel the fire of bashing whomever is in the office at the time.
