@@WildlifeShorts123 I also don't know anything. It's normal for people to not know anything, especially if they have jobs or lives outside the interwebs. I don't know anything about franchise movies like Dark Knight or Lord of the Rings too. Tiger King also got popular on the pandemic but only thing I know about it is that its a guy with a tiger and I might even be wrong about it.
The games weren't on the walls as a reminder. They were there from the beginning. So if they were paying attention on day 1, they would have known the games they had to play.
So I was told that in order to make all this believable, the actors were in fact a little over a meter off the ground. And there was actually real and tempered glass on the bridge. They were all connected with cables, so no one actually got hurt, but their reactions are as genuine as they get.
@@ventglatormmos669 English versión is awful, It's especially aperant in "Red light", Since the Korean version is actually tense, since it's about the music, and not randomly shouting "Red light, green light"
@@ventglatormmos669 Lots of us care. Makes a big difference. I can get more absorbed in the world of the story listening to the real actors' voices. Much less distracting to read subtitles than to listen to voices / language clearly not coming out of the people I'm looking at. And the dubbing on this show was not good.
Right?!? I was surprised by how many people said she did a bad job because she was “emotionless” or “wooden” but she’s supposed to be a North Korean refugee! And the character is playing death games! Obviously Sae-byok’s trauma response will be to lock down and focus on survival. The actress herself is so different, too, so it’s clear she was working very hard and doing a great job in that role.
@@transplantman2287 this is my first time seeing people apparently hated her? Excuse me?? Tbf I'm not necessarily surprised considering SK is a bullying hellhole but damn. I still remember watching this series when it came out and bawling my eyes OUT bc of her. She was so captivating from the start.
Mi-nyeo taking Jang with her on the glass bridge is a historical reference: Nongae was a Korean woman IRL who defiantly locked her arms around a Japanese general and yeeted them both off a cliff.
the sangwoo hate when this series came out was real bc of ali and saebyeok, but i maintain that he is my favorite and the most complex/interesting character on the show. all he wanted was to right his wrongs, save his mother, and was willing to do anything to do it. he played the game and almost lost himself doing it but in the end, he sacrificed himself for his friend and his family. this show is so amazing and i loved your reactions!💗
this just made me remember how honestly incredible this show is, i think it just lost its momentum and never retained a long term fandom because everyone binged it so quickly, i think if it had been released weekly people would still be praising it
DO NOT WATCH WITH "English CC" Make sure to use the regular English subtitles. The English closed captions are a transcription of the English dubbing, not a translation of the Korean audio.
I forgot how not subtle the first episode is about the gambling XD Bro went from betting to claw machine to mystery box like other people go through the five stages of grief XD
When you guys got into korean shows.. i think you would also love strangers from hell.. it's horor/thriller and one of the best kdramas for me 👀 it would be a good binge 😀
How did I miss this upload?! Oh my god! I would DIE if you did this style video for Haunting of Hill House!!! It’s such a BRILLIANTLY written, acted, and directed mini series. It’s only 10 episodes. I’m assuming you haven’t already seen it lol. But trust me, you would NOT regret it. I would def suggest doing it this binge way though because people tend to spoil things in comments
If you're paying attention, you can tell early on number one was the creator of the games. The robot was programmed to not sense him. That's why he was the only one having fun. All the games were based off of games he knew from his childhood. The uprising only stopped when he screamed for them to stop.
I clicked so fast! I hope you loved the journey as much as I did. Miss seeing your faces, I haven't seen anything people are watching lately. The slap guy is from Train to Busan, and you should watch one of those videos that breaks down S1 of Squid Game. The details are pretty amazing. You should also binge (maybe in parts, though- not all at once) Alice in Borderlands. It gets compared to Squid Game a lot, but I'm one who thinks Squid Game is a bit better, and I also think Alice in Borderlands is its own thing. It is a great show, and I highly recommend.
3:01:48 - He’s NOT right, though. That’s the entire point of the show. Despite desperation & their own lives at stake, some people still have enough empathy to do the right thing regardless of a cash prize. Ali saved Gi-hun, Ji-yeong gave her life to save Sae-byeok, Sae-byeok convinced Gi-hun not to kill Sang-woo, Gi-hun befriended the old man out of compassion rather than strategy. Sang-woo played the game as ruthlessly as possible, but still ended up in the same place he was before the game: suicidal & consumed by guilt. Gi-hun wins the money, but doesn’t spend it b/c it’s blood money. He nearly killed his childhood best friend for it. The money that turned his best friend into a manipulative monster. Plus, money won’t bring his mom back to life or fix his relationship with his daughter. Money won’t take away all the horrific things he saw or the things he learned. Not spending the money was his own way of sticking it to the gamemakers. And in the very end, he decides to try dismantling the game from the inside out. A metaphor for dismantling the systems of oppression that turn good people into greedy, self-serving individualists instead of collective, compassionate equals.
3:03:54 the old man could not have died at that moment, if you look closely: when the doll was pointed at the old man, it glowed green - it means safe! And on others people they were marked in red, guns were fired at them
2:12:11 i wouldn't say she was thristy for him, she shows disgust with her face when he makes that little misogynistic "joke". she believes sticking with this pos is her way to survive (bc he's physically strong and clearly aggresive and one could assume he's the type to go over others without hesitating to win something like this, from how he was shamelessly beating saebyeok up earlier in front of everyone) but i bet she planned to get rid of his stinky ass if the game could only have one winner like it's the case. she's a smart and resourceful woman but her biggest mistake was to think a gross man like this would take her places and not drop her as soon as he deemed her as useless and also to think the only way for her to win was to rely on a man 😭
Love how throughout the video you guys kept saying the MC should use all that money he won, just constantly like "Spend it. Spend it. Use the money you earned" and by the end, the show gives us a confrontation with the old man; a character that reflects back our enjoyment of the participants being stuck in dog-eats-dog situations. I think in the finale, Gi-Hun realizes that if he uses the money he won, he'd still be playing the cards given to him by the overlords behind both the games and the capitalist world he lives in. And so the final scene of the season was a true revolutionary event for Gi-Hun, because it's the moment he falls in love with revolution, the realization that he has to destroy the games, not win it. Because as the saying goes; "It doesn't matter how well you play a game if your opponents is in-control of the rules".
Otherwise people's said I don't hate Sangwoo I was rooting for him to be into the final even when already know he wouldn't won the game, but he's actually a cool antagonist and well written character he did what he had to do, periodddd.
“I’m sure his time is coming but it can’t come fast enough.” Literally every episode pls get rid of him. Also there’s going to be not just a season 2 but also 3rd
Absolutely loved watching your reaction. This is great material to debate who to root for, against, etc. First time watching it, Gganbu episode broke me. Really hope Season 2 is a revenge episode.
I loved this show when it came out and because of this show it opened my eyes to K dramas and K horror. I am anxious about season 2 because I felt the show was perfect as a single series but I will watch when it comes out ❤
1:53:01 this was funny because what she said was the equivalent of "honey" or "my dear" which lets us know they're married.. but the English closed captions (captions of the English dub) say "oh boy"
유행이 지난지 2년이 지났지만 재밌게 봐 주신 것 감사합니다! i was just going to watch a lil bit and then stop watching. (and i did not) aaaaaaand thank you for watching squid game season 1 even though its been 2 years since the drama became popular again. and i hope season 2 will be much better to watch in any part or perspectives. have a good day or night.
I’m not a believer, but thank all the lords you are doing it with subs and not dubs🙏🏻 I physically can’t watch people’s reactions when it’s with dubs😅 Also, this show is so good that u a lot of the time don’t even need the subs because the acting and story is so good.. 12:52 And honestly same, that man is so damn handsome, I’d probably volunteer as tribute.….🤣🤣🤣
I do not know how you had the strength to binge! 😭 I also watched it later like maybe a year after it came out? But omgg the marble episode emotionally drained me and it took me like an additonal 2 weeks to finish it off. That was literally the first time I ever had to do that with a show 😮 but it was incredibly acted and everything came together so well. Glad you had a chance to check it out
