Glad you enjoyed the Canadian segment of the loop. It looked awesome! (As an aside, you were only in one province through 6 weeks of travel!) I'm sure it feels good to be back in your home country since it always feels good to come back home. (I feel that way every time I come back to Canada.) Michigan is a great state with so much to offer. Mackinac Island is just too touristy for me but I can see why many people love it. All the best in your future travels. As you can see I am a year behind in watching your videos. Keep up the great work! I'm loving following your loop adventure.
12:40 THAT WAS MUCH MUCH MUUUUCCCCCCHHHH better than that first time you all were goin up to the FUEL DOCK and you videoed it WAY WAY WAY BACK IN THE BEGINNIN!!! or THAT FIRST LOCK!!! :) you all lookin pretty PRO'y out there now!!! :) have you calmed down that anxiaty stuff ??? kinda seems like you 2 are more relaxed and gettin into the enjoyment of the whole thing instead of just DOING THE THING and worrying about doing it, right, wrong, wutever, worry is a pitfall..... stress is a pitfall..... pitfalls cause our journey in life to require more energy to climb up out of the pit... ;) aviod the PITFALLS!!! :) LOVE JOY COMPASSION
Awesome! At 19:55 they're showing the school I went to!! My dad was the superintendent of the Mackinac Island school at that time! Love this video! Thank you for taking me back!
I'll swear you two must have horseshoes, rabbit feet and 4 leaf clovers on Pivot's Bridge. You have just soooo lucked out with your weather. I've been on Lake Huron when the weather man must have had one drink too many and I ended up in 12' waves that would break over my fly bridge. Other than needed to change our shorts, we survived lol. Always wanted to go to Mackinac but never did. After following your travels almost, feel like I know you. And with your experiences, could give yourselves the titles of captain and captainette and rock watching expert Ollie. But with some of your troubles, never once heard any giving up words. It takes some special determined people to beat those obstacles. Thumbs up to you.
That cheese sounds amazing! When you get to Florida's Big Bend, give Alex and I a shout! He's an adventurous Old English Sheepdog. He and Ollie will get along great!
I also recommend the book "Life and Death of the Great Lakes." It was written near a lowpoint for Great Lakes water levels, and predicted that the level would go even lower "due to climate change." Almost immediately the Great Lakes levels climbed 5+ feet! Today the level remains somewhat above the 90-year average .
So glad you were able to get a slip at Mackinaw and spend some time there. I can remember when the film "Somewhere in Time" was released we were very excited since it was filmed on the island. We had a family cottage on Lake Charlevoix until a few years ago, I miss it terribly. Thanks very much for sharing your journey and bringing back so many fond memories for me. Well done as usual!
Glad to see you exploring the US part of the Loop with your first big stop being Mackinaw Island. It is an amazing place. It had to be a big culture shock to go from where you to Mackinaw.
The Freighter at 6:37 was the James L Oberstar, built in 1958, and is 806 feet in length, mainly hauls iron ore, from Marquette Mi to Ford Rouge complex in Dearborn Michigan
These are the videos I’ve been waiting for! So happy to see you on Mackinac Island, it’s where my wife and I were married 20 years ago the same month you visited. It’s a wonderful place even if it’s a bit touristy.
Another week it will be crazy busy kids out of school and people come from every where especially to Mackinac Island and the north channel for the next two months !
I loved going to Mackinac Island as a kid and cannot wait to bring my daughter there to see it. We are working our the detail to take a trip and tow our boat to Bay City and then boat over to the island. Way too far for us on then lakes with our boat.
I didn’t realize that y’all did this last year. I was going to let y’all know about an event coming up in few couple weeks called Boyne Thunder. It’s a big speed boat poker run. I’ve enjoyed following y’all on your journey.
Looks like you are having lots of fun - maybe go bike riding with Ollie on her leash - she would definitely get a workout then (racing to keep up with you).
15:30 you are AT A DESTINATION tho, not must a little island, or even ''just one of the marinas along the LOOP'' ..... a DESTINATION!! :) people come from the other side of CLEAVELAND and all the way over in FORTWAYNE or even INDY to GO TO THAT ISLAND!!!! ((we used to go to Port Clinton OHIO every summer for years.... family up there... went to MAkakaananaw like twice, went to PUTINBAY every summer :) out here at the FAIRs they have MACKINAC ISLAND FUDGE stands....... I wanna try the fudge THERE someday in the future :)
How do they pronounce Cadillac in Mackinac? 😊 I couldn't help but notice how much more comfortable you are on the big water. You two have come a long way in every aspect. Thanks for sharing. It's been so enjoyable to learn and travel with you.
Don't tell anyone! It's getting too crowded 😂 I grew up in Michigan but I live in California now, but I go back there most summers usually spend a couple of nights there, definitely something unique.❤
I wish we did... but it was hard to stay active! The only thing we had going for us was cooking almost all our meals and eating relatively clean. Thanks for watching!
