About two months ago my girlfriend, that I had planned on proposing to when I graduated in december, passed away. This was one of our favorite songs to sing together while in my car. This song has never hit so close to home till now after she has passed. Something I will forever take to heart.
Unfortunately, life can be a bitch sometimes. Not much you can do about it but pray to god and push forward till you to your final home. It definitely has made me lose my fear of death.
I'm sorry for your loss mate. Absolutely heartbreaking. I hope you are doing as well as you can be. I've lost a few people in my life, my best mate and my mam. In pretty bad circumstances. Sometimes I don't want to wake up when I go to bed. I really hope you're doing ok. Life can be pretty sh*tty but I'm rooting for you. One day at a time my dude.
He just broke mainstream with this song. He has been selling out the Houston Texans stadium for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo the past few years. He has been big in the Texas Country and Red Dirt (Oklahoma) music circuit for a long time.
You had me at David Allen Coe...it's funny. I was just talking to someone about that line. I said a lot of these newer country artists are taking that lyric to heart. They have gotten back to writing personal stuff and it resonates, at least with me :) Great reference PK
@@flickeringboxofficial as someone who truly enjoys the art of country music, I think this song is a bit poppy but if you ever enjoyed that red dirt Texas country this man is well worth diving into. He pays constant homage to the greats and does it in such a great way. Know you’d get the reference haha
Lost my Dad last Thanksgiving. 2 days before Thanksgiving. Was our favorite time of the year. I’d give anything I own to have my Dad Back. Song is great Thank You 🙏
Sorry about your loss Burch. I had the perfect mom too. She passed away at 82 the day before Christmas Eve in 22. I am so glad we had moved in with her and took really good care of her for over a year. She got to be at home until her last day. Inside I knew mom would be home for Christmas so I had told everyone in the family ahead of time. I miss her everyday. Alexis is a very special person I can tell. You must have looked hard to find her. Thumbs up
Wow, similar timeline with ya FPV Pilot. Mom was a bit older, 90 but stayed at home her last few years as her health was failing and we all pitched in to take care of her. Could not have dreamed of finding a better co-host than Alexis. One day I will tell the story of the search for a co-host .... good grief it's like finding hens teeth.
My man. You had me in tears with you. I lost my mom 30 yrs ago and theres times, a couple times a week just for a millisecond I think I have call moma. She'll always be with you
Thank you John. 30 years and the feeling still hits ya, wow. Mommas have a way of imprinting themselves on us. When it comes to her, I wear my heart on my sleeve.
The line about " Mamma " really breaks me every time and I shed a few tears. My Mom was 49 when she passed from Liver Cancer and it happened relatively quickly. 8 months from diagnosis till she passed. I was 30 at the time and I really thought I had many many more years with her. I regret every time she called me and asked me to come hang out with her when my Dad was out of town ... Just to watch movies and talk and laugh and enjoy some time together. Unfortunately there were ( looking back ) way too many times I told her I couldn't because I had other things going on and now its one of the biggest regrets I have in my life and I can't go back. 😭 Great message ... And now Im crying 😂 I love you Mamma and you're missed more than words can express , Until I see you again ❤😘
Just found your channel with Wait in the truck so checking out other videos. I watch a lot of reaction videos and I honestly appreciate that you are genuine. If one of you knows a song you admit it and don't fake a "first time" reaction. That you show emotion for songs that cause emotion is great as well. Reminds the rest of us it's okay to have reactions like that. Thank you for the content please keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you Brian, it means a lot. We love doing this and it's a gas to talk music with people in the comments section from every musical taste and from all over the world.
NOT A NEW ARTIST. He's just been playing Texas! He has 6 full albums out on his own label. He wanted to do it his way and not conform to nashville. Cody Johnson is part of the Texas music scene, also known as Red Dirt country.
This song speaks a truth that too many learn the hard way. The love of my life and I made a decision to wait, to get careers established, save for a house instead of an apartment ... yeah we waited too long. A car accident the night before I was going to finally put the ring on her hand. Do anyone reading this comment ... just don't wait till you can't ... LIVE now not plan for later.
I have no words for you William except that I am truly touched by words and sorry for your loss. From Alexis and I, thank you for sharing such a powerful and painful post.
I quit listening to country for quit a few years because of Bro-country. Then I heard this song and went down the rabbit hole. I had missed country-WESTERN music like King George, Garth, and Chris LeDoux.
So he rides rodeo? That is awesome. I will assume from what you said he was a pro, does he still ride? Similar to Chris LeDoux? Thank you Gabriel for the insight. I like him even more now. Rodeo guys are about as tough as they come.
Bitch, we as your fans get it! May be 5 months since you lost your Mom, she's your Mom, they gave us Life, your reaction is Real. I lost my Dad a year ago, and I Miss him Terribly!!! We always think their going to be there, until they aren't. I wished I spent more time with him, I won't make that same mistake with my Mom. She'll be 79 this year, I can't stand the thought of losing her too. Love country music, because it really speaks about True Life emotions. Great song!! She said it Right, you're Never Promised tomorrow, LIVE Life Today!😊
Like so many others, I am dreading the day(s) when I lose my parents. I haven't lost them yet, and if i'm lucky i've still got another 30 years or so. The thought of not being able to talk to them, to ask for help or advice, is terrifying.
Thank you Ben. You know how this works, all you have to do is start talking about her and poof...water works. This song really hit me in a good way. Full speed ahead!
Cody Johnson is awsome he has an amazing voice and his concerts are awsome.I saw him in concert last year. He's also the real deal he was a bull rider before he became a country music singer
I freaked out when I found out he rode before making it as a singer. I can't tell you how much I like him already. Next time he comes to town, we are there.
Great addition with Alexis. Love Cody Johnson. His sound reminds me of 90's country. He has a lot of great songs. I would suggest Fenceposts or On My Way To You. Not trying to compare him to the legend, but his style of music and the way he sings I can always imagine that George Strait would have taken each one to No. 1 in the 90's and 2000s. It just sounds like songs George would have picked and played.
Deep and warm voice. In country music, we call that baritone. Randy Travis was the most prolific baritone in country music. Check him out. Sadly, he’s lost his voice and mostly body functionality due to a massive stroke years ago. He is a hall of tamer, considered one of the GOATS. It’s so fn sad. God given gift ripped away.
If you notice it shows a young man and it talks about fishing with dad. Him putting a ring on a girl's finger and fixing the car with grandad. When the phone call comes with bad news, it's the young man that's died.
I still lose it to songs like this especially Steelheart’s Mama don’t you cry,I lost my mom to cancer in ‘94 she was only 46. And I just recently lost my son Ryan in a car accident he was only 21. Songs about loss really hit hard.
First off, Howdy to the new gal. I dig your videos Burch, but I super enjoy the country reactions. Cody is an awesome dude and this song is solid words of wisdom. I hope Country stays on this track. It's more in line with the old-school country.
I just discovered your channel. I think when Alexis's run is over she needs to get her own channel. I like her choices in music she's been bringing. You should do Human by Cody. It's my favorite song that's playing right now
He wrote this song because he almost died in a plane crash but when you don’t know that you would think the song is talking about grandpa passing away or your girl leaving and so on but it’s really neat how he wrote the song to be like that he is truly amazing and I love this song because my grandpa passed back in august he pretty much raised me cause my dad was never around I was always with him he taught me to be the man that I am and I got his truck. Not only that including him we had 3 family members pass in a span of 3 months all from cancer my grandpas death hit me the most cause we was really close he always told everybody that I was his arms and legs.
You mentioned a song that was specific to a car, but never circled back to it. I can't help but wonder if it was Riding with Private Malone. That's the song that comes to my mind. You should also check out Where the Wild Things Are by Luke Combs.
Just found, your reaction today…. Awesome reaction, One Helluva Song…. Definitely need to check out the Brooks an Dunn, where they have Cody Johnson there, singing Red Dirt Road from Brooks an Dunn..
I just saw Cody Johnson in concert last weekend. I don't like modern country at all...but Wow. I'm a fan. He sounds like old country. I alao lost my Mom unexpectedly few months ago.
Hey can you do a reaction of “dirt cheap” by Cody Johnson and had to pull over as I sobbed through the song it’s one y’all would be great to see… not see you cry but see your true emotions :-) ❤
You make a great pair !!!! This is a good reaction. Can I suggest your next? Fits right in .... Jason Isbell "cover me up" .... similar to Zach Bryan. Do you take paypal payments for requests ?
Thank you Nora and no PayPal needed. We will add Cover Me Up to the list. Only thing we ask is to make sure you subscribe and click the bell for notifications....oh and if you get a chance to share our stuff with a friend 😉 That would really help us out
Sorry, he isn't new. He's been around and known for well over a decade. The issue is that he sings a much more classic country style. Classic or older country is making a big come back he has steadfastly refused to change his style for sake of sales
Great chemistry guys. Best of luck. ♥️ And you can’t miss with CJ! Great start. Anything Cody is great. So much of his music, even album cuts that aren’t singles are written like this. So simple but they say so much. Suggestions from me would be Human, Dear Rodeo, and Nothing On You is going in an entirely different direction! Whoo, sexy! Please forgive me guys. I know everything doesn’t happen at once and equipment isn’t free but your audio is weak. Love watching you but it’s hard to really enjoy it cause the sound just isn’t good.
@@flickeringboxofficial I went back an listened to Something In The Orange and it sounds better. The volume was low on Till You Can’t and maybe it was just that. Seemed it sounded flat, stereo but just not full. As you can tell, I’m NOT a pro. Don’t even know what I heard or how to describe it!! Great content though and I so enjoy your commentary. So sorry about your mom too. I love music and listen to different genres but this is why my first love is country. I don’t usually connect with and feel music from other genres the way I do the messages in Country. Keep up the good work. ♥️🎶 BTW, you should check out Morgan Wallen’s new album. Some great tracks, some of the best to me being Keith Whitley, Devil Don’t Know, Man Made A Bar (with Eric Church,) I Deserve A Drink. This guy, at least in my opinion, is something special. If there’s a ‘One Record At A Time’ live studio version of the song, always pick it!
If you go down the Cody route there are many great songs but would suggest Dear Rodeo. Besides that On my way to you, Dance Her Home, By Your Grace and wild as you are other good options
I lost my dad 13 years ago and my mom 10 years ago. I'm the baby of 4 boys. Miss my parents everyday. I cry so often still. Definitely miss the calls from my mom.
Mike, based on the many comments on this video, you are not alone. My dad was a few years back from cancer. Amazing how well this song hits home for so many.
Good lord, that was tough… and now everyone is crying, & thinking about every relationship, situation, and opportunity that they haven’t been giving proper attention, and making us all feel extremely guilty. Or maybe that’s just me. But today, I’m calling my mom & a sick uncle.
I remember seeing Cojo years ago at hanks in McKinney, Tx with about 50 people to selling out dance halls, last min call to the Houston rodeo to selling it out the following year.. seeing cojo grow has been amazing
Emotions are given to us by the Lord to express, not hold in.. I’m the worst about holding it in and it’s put wedges in relationships because of it. It doesn’t make anything better, make you feel better, make you look stronger.. you need songs like this to show you that to..
The girl in the video (the one on the phone) lost her brother unexpectedly. She got "that phone call" and her husband goes up to comfort her and she puts him on the phone because she's too upset to talk. The video was showing all the things her brother did, like spending time with his dad, grandpa and friends. It's basically saying do all that while you can because you never know.
By Doro, I recommend the song Undying from their live performance in 2003 in Balve, Germany. She dedicated this song to her passed away father. I think this live performance is pretty emotional.
Anathema's One Last Goodbye is another great song that you'd enjoy musically. It is an emotional song about the band members mother. Danny and Vincent Cavanagh lost their mother and made a song about her. It's from the late 90s. I'd decide for the album version. They were from the UK. Please, give'em a try. There is so much music in the underground that you haven't discovered, yet.
I'm sitting here leaking with you, Burch. It's been 9 months since I lost my younger sister. It was very sudden and now it's too late. Till You can't! My heart aches.
I know I've mentioned this song to y'all once before but Luke LaPrade "Goodbye Luke"....I'm pretty sure that there is only one video for it. He really needs to record it one day. It's raw, unfiltered emotion. Trust me in this. Check it out.
