There's alot of sailboats all across the country that are accepting all offers. Some of them are projects that the previous owner has almost completed but health issues have forced them to sell.
GOSH.. what a GREAT find . . for $1000 ... . congrats.. . I look forward to watching you make it your home... wishing you much success.. fair winds and following seas....
I think you got a fair deal. The Guy selling loved the boat so much , he wanted it in the right hands and he found you . Better sell it to you than selling it to kid who rams it to the ground or loses intrest the first time he gets sea sick .
With the money you saved you can work on the sound for further videos. Plus, you can probably get a nice diesel with installation for 5 or 6 k. Maybe extra for shaft and cutlas bearing and prop and ....... etc. Otherwise, fun boat.
@@SAILINGCHAOS-1That sounds great. There are some videos out there on E conversions but they don't go into a lot of detail about battery longevity and safety etc. An older C30 is the perfect boat to do that with.
Yeah, but it’s a catalina. Check the keelson. The plywood in the bottom probably has compressed and your keel is not tight. The other hazard is the smile. Check the hull to deck seam, from the shrouds to the bow, to make sure the pop rivets aren’t rotten. $1000 boats are often worth $1000. This one’s price may be driven down by the number of $500 cat 30s, around. I could get you one for $200.
@@SAILINGCHAOS-1 It’s very possible that you got a gem. I really could get you a few cat 30s for $200 each. But that’s why the former owner couldn’t get the 5 or 7k they might have. 👍
@mkunes2502 I got this one due to an insurance claim he almost sunk it and ruined the motor when he slashed it from doing a bottom job. The stuffing box failed. Our recent videos show how it’s off grid now and with an electric motor.
