Surprise! Luis and I are buying our first house and we're bringing you along with us as we make it into our dream home. Please share any suggestions you may have in the comments! Interior Designer: www.dwellistic...
i dont know if its upstate, but it is amazing. that big space by the kitchen is actually the family lounge. the main living area and the formal dinning area are close to each other. you can make that artic a children's play room. I am thinking of buying a house in Schenectady, and i have seen one, but i will tear it down to build my dream house. Congrats for the big moves Sarah! Glad you left NYC
Congratulations, Sarah. Im delighted for both of you guys. The home looks lovely. Seriously well done. It will take a lot of work but it will be 100% worth it!
Mazel tov, Sarah!!! What a great move for you!!! The house is gorgeous, even before the renovations! After living in apartments in the Bronx until I got married at age 28, I know how you felt about throwing all that rental money down the drain. We chose Staten Island for our first house and, despite a bunch of moves after, we have never lived in an apartment again. You will love living in your own home, knowing that your mortgage payments are going towards your full ownership of the house. Again, I hope all of you enjoy your new home in good health!
The house is amazing! Yes it needs some updates but its HUGE, the bones are great, and the scenery is beautiful! That backyard will be awesome once the pool is fixed. You guys should make the cedar closet a sauna! Sooo excited to see what you guys do with the place. Congrats! :)
Congratulations on your new house. I'm sure by the time you two are done with the renovations, it will be incredible. Enjoy the journey with your husband and Bella!
Congratulations to me it’s amazing that I just bought my first landed property few days ago , I feel so happy for myself and my accomplishments so far. I’m so happy I made good decisions about my finances that changed me forever❤️
I can share something that helped me 1. Plan towards it 2. Be Frugal and minimal on spending (don’t buy why you don’t need) 3. Save money towards retirement 4. Save to invest, this is most important because it’s a proven way to get rich. Very important path to financial success
There’s a lot of investing options but my best advice is to get a professional who will guide you into a more profitable investment, that’s exactly what I did.
Congratulations I love it! Yall kiddies live in NYC apartments for years feel out of place with all that space enjoy. Don't move too far from us you still our NYC guide girl❤❤🎉 🎉🎉🎉
I watched the whole video to figure out where Luis’s brew equipment may go! Congrats on the new home! It looks fabulous to me! The roomba will need to get recharged a few times! We remodeled our mid-90’s house in Seattle. Expected to spend around $125k, but managed to boost it to $200k. Expect a bit of the Money Pit. Look forward to you seeing the next HGTV stars!!
Congrats on your new home! Even the "forgotten" part isn't horrible 😂 The room after the kitchen that you weren't sure about is probably meant to be a dining room (table should go under that hanging light fixture). One of the two living rooms is probably meant to be the more casual family room. Careful with the attic office - that upper level, especially with more skylights added and warm computer equipment running, will likely be sweltering when the weather is warmer... Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out!
Yeah, I live in FL, I think air conditioning/heat pump, but I guess NY State might not have as much cooling needs. Insulation is a good thing. There might be some power company energy audit program where an inspector can come out and provide advice.
I think the room with all the glass windows would be an amazing space for a casual sitting space off the kitchen. The attic could be awesome for a kids play space
Family & I Live in a 2 (small) bedroom apt on Staten Island and seeing that (from our POV) mansion, the last thing wifey and I were thinking was what were you thinking. LOVE IT!!!! Absolute best of luck
Dedicate one. room as a children's play room ,grungy and trashed where they can play and ban toys from the rest of the house . I have seen this work time and time again .and. an out side entrance is a bonus .
Smart decision!! Congrats!!! This house is actually awesome and has so much character !!! Instead of paying someone else’s mortgage of pay your own off and have an asset in the end.
Looks like an excellent house to me, roof needs a cleaning and the Fall will involve constant clean up of leaves but Congratulations! Most people burn out on the city for one reason or another, It's like riding a wild horse, sooner or later you get thrown off.
Nice going Sarah. You guys were spending a cray-cray amount of cash to live in NYC. Looks like you've got plenty of space for a new home base. Congrats!
Congrats you guys! Both of you have amazing taste and style so I am sure the house will rock once its done. In fact you should create a separate channel Call it Funky House
Bringing a house back is no big problem as long as the bones are good. My idea is buy a house that is in a good location that has a nice lot .As long as the basic house is okay it can be refurbished . Make sure the size ,style and layout fits your needs. You can't change the property , location or the house. , but you can reset the house. A " fixer upper " should be priced accordingly . I would rather pay less for a house that needed work as compared to one that was remodeled twenty years ago with a high asking price.
I am so happy for you!! The house is awesome!! Suggestion for the extra space - more kids. Go for 6-7 more, right? Haha!! Seriously, very happy for you! The house has good bones, & it'll mean so much more as you make it yours!!
You didn’t waste your money on rent. You received something for your money - a great place in NYC. That is worth something. You are now entering a new phase in your life. Many congratulations! But you didn’t waste your money.
Congrats! Btw, that small room next to the living room and kitchen is the original dining room. 😂 You have a well built home! Can’t wait to see the transformations!
Nothing horrible about the new house. But as you have a friend who is a designer I would get her the floor plans ASAP. Along with a reputable construction team to discuss priority projects and nice t haves.
I wonder how much this huge house will cost to renovate and decorate which could take decades. Who needs so many rooms too? A child could get lost in this house or hide for days. Good Luck! I bet this is Connecticut
It's a marvelous house, but the living room looks strange with the fireplace not set in the center of the room. That would be a deal breaker for me, bcuz to me, a fireplace should be in the center, built into a corner, or not there at all. But I can't wait to see how y'all fix the house up! 😍
Congratulation! I love the location, property and kitchen. Has a lot of potential. I'd close off the attic area because 6700 SQ FT is gonna be costly to heat / cool but I look forward to whatever you guys to to make it your own! I'd suggest to eat this animal in small bites and just focus on the most important spaces.
Congratulations. I think it's a great place. It looks like a little Mini mansion. The sky is the limit on what you can do with it. However, the only critique I have. I don't like the fact that it's in the middle of the woods other than that. It's a Perfect place graduations again.
The house is fabulous and huge. A lot of potential indeed, why give away money and pay for someone else's investment property? I can see this house becoming a very chic home with your design ideas.
House purchased at 6%….plus the cost of your renovations… plus yearly school and property taxes… plus 2 cars… gas… insurance…. Plus upkeep…. Grass yard work… snow plowing…. Furnishing a 6500 square foot house plus all the other odds and ends..,. You’ll beg for 324,000 worth of rent
Next baby registry you gotta put like 12 roombas!!!!! Also-- also-- also-- remember when eamon and bec moved to the woods?!!!!! This new content is going to be glorious
Never look at houses that are above what you know you can spend. Try to figure out who are the good contractors are, this can be tough, lots of morning breakfast diners not Starbucks. Your house is not a picture out of a magazine, so live in it and enjoy it.
Congratulations! The house has real "potential." It's huge and has so many bathrooms, bedrooms, and that "mechanics" garage, the hubs would kill for that! It'll be amazing when it's finished. 👍🏻🏚️🏠
