It was time for some serious equipment for our property and with this in mind, we purchased a Kubota SVL65-2 compact track loader. As you've seen with the terrain at our place, it's going to take a more compact machine to get into some of the areas and we have plenty of dirt work to do over time as well. In this video the machine gets delivered and we go over general controls as well as maintenance items to be thinking about. I also got behind the controls for the first use!

I liked this video, I live up in Wasilla, Alaska but I am born n raised in Tracy, MN n visited family a couple weeks ago and happened to drive thre Jaycox while I was there. I got back and bought a brand new Kubota ssv65 skidloader in Anchorage last week! Small world on this Ole you tube!

As someone who unloads these, that “drop” off the trailer is nerve wracking every time, even though you know it’s coming and your totally fine. And you sprang for the A/C and heat, I’m jealous. You are gonna have a blast with that thing.

With most things, having the right tool opens up possibilities of what can be achieved and the time it takes to complete a task. Whether it’s a fine dovetail saw, hammer drill, or your new Kubota. It won’t be long before you realize all the things you can now do, and get done in a reasonable amount of time, that this tool offers you.

It is hard not to laugh when I see you operating that fancy TSL. I remember when I started out. I couldn’t even get a full scoop. Practice makes perfect. And while I would run circles around you in my old bobcat I would be lost in that fancy Kubota. I have two sticks and three pedals and a headlight switch in my machine 😂 man times have changed.

As someone who has spent thousands of hours in skid steers I would seriously recommend getting a tooth bucket if you are going to play in the dirt. I only use a smooth bucket for scraping mud off the roads or clearing snow. Also there are a ton of idiots out there who will raise the front of the tracks (or tires) two feet in the air when trying to scrape or dig in... raise the boom and curl down, you'll get the same ground pressure no matter if you are 2 inches or 2 feet off the ground. Anyway, those are my two pet peeves of rookie operators, theses machines are still a ton of fun to play with, have fun. You are accomplishing some really great things and I love that we are allowed to follow along.

Boy, your going to have so much fun! Work suddenly turns into play time, I sure would love to have one of those. I'll have to start looking into those as I will be building a 48/104x16 car storage/man cave. I assume that won't fit into the storage unit? Maybe just cover with a large tarp? Take care.

Was that on something with half worn out tracks doing hard work in rocky soil while on uneven terrain and after many hours of hard use? Yeah this is new and this guy is about as gentle with equipment as you can be. The biggest rock he has on his almost hill less property you could probably carry and all he deals with is top soil. Very different people in different locations with different machines doing different types of work……. You can’t count on having the same failures and problems just because the machines started out being the same color.

Ryan, I've never been up close to a skid steer let alone sit in one. A NEW TOY TO PLAY WITH save your pennies for the vlower attachment if you need it I'm the winter maybe just a plow. A post hole auger oh my for fencing or whatever you need it for in the Ryan's Ryegrass Sod Farm build

I use my grapple (Kioti dk 40 hst) more that any other front attatchment. Forks, rotary mower will be nice additions. And as others said, a Harley rake. My broke ass has a gill pulverizer and I have a rollover Boxblade and a real heavy Gill (hinged rear blade) Boxblade with scarifies that hinge up. Nice score.

I've been selling Kubota parts for almost 7 years, and the best advice I can give you is: 1. Changing the fuel filters and air filter regularly will save you from a lot of downtime. 2. OEM oil filters are key to a long life. 3. Beware of cheap aftermarket hydraulic fluid. 4. Putting diesel in the DEF tank is automatically $10k just in parts... or at least it was 5 years ago. And I don't believe it's covered under warranty or insurance anymore. Good luck! ;)

You just need to get the thing dirty now! I’ve always found the daily greasing to be excessive unless your running for a solid 8hrs a day. Not many people do so I prefer to just go off of the hour meter.

Daily greasing is pretty excessive, agreed. Just do like every 10 hours and see how it goes for awhile. If they're still packed, try 20 hours.

Why skid steer over small tractor or mini backhoe with bucket? I know very little about them all but was curious…

While a small tractor is probably more useful as a whole, they can be extremely difficult to maneuver consistently with grading and digging, etc. Skid steers primary uses are for doing this and it’s controls are very seamless to operate and very less “clunky.” Skid steers still have a pretty decent variety of attachments to use if wanted. Not that I know this is why he bought it, just assuming

Personally I would have found an older machine without the emissions controls, but I understand why you'd want a new machine. I hope the emissions equipment doesn't give you any problems. Enjoy!

The prices are insane for older used right now so it just didn't make as much sense at that point
