🎬 ABOUT THIS VIDEO SERIES
===============================
In this six part series we will reveal the wonderfully diverse rainforest of the Yasuní while also explaining what our plan is to help restore and protect this special place.
In the next episode in this series we will give you a proper tour of the land so you can get familiar with every nook and cranny of this place.
🔎 ABOUT THIS PROJECT
===============================
We are embarking on a new journey. To help protect the most biodiverse place on Earth.
Our new project, led by our own team of biologists, will aim to protect and restore rainforest in the buffer zone of the Yasuní National Park. Located in the Amazon region of Ecuador, this rainforest is home to the highest concentration of species on the planet.
We have laid the cornerstone by purchasing 140 hectares of forest that borders the national park, securing its protection and establishing a base for our project. Together with members of the local community and local experts, we will develop solutions to stop forest degradation and kick-start forest regeneration in the area.

So if you would like to help out you can become a member here: www.mossy.earth/ We use our rewilding budget to try and restore nature in the most impactful ways. It's humbling to know that even those who have grown up in a jungle, could also wish to grow up and work in a city - only to change their mind as they grow older. I find that a lot of us seem to follow this path in our own ways. We think that the hard work of simple living is not worth it - but in that work is our healing. Our connection to nature and to family, community. I miss being out in nature regularly. I can't wait to get away from my desk job. Kudos to the Mossy Earth team for continuing to show us all what is possible when we love the Earth and work together.

I guess, it's not "city" or "jungle". Most indigenous people live anyway of "in between". And there a lot way of "in between"! It's the question of "more" an "less". And at least ist not "Jungle" neither "pristine". Our people life here since more 10.000 years and made the Amazonas, what it is now.

I went to school with a guy who became one of the top cocoa hunters in the world and is working for original beans. This might be the source of income you guys are looking for. They have projects where they harvest about 50% of wild cocoa growing under the roof of the rainforest (wich means less sunburns for the cocoa, it is where it came from in the first place) and make premium chocolate with it and meanwhile work on regenerating and protecting the rainforest.
@apveening

Another source of income might be extracting gold (in an eco-friendly way) from the area. A nice side benefit of that is that wild gold prospectors will pass the area by once it is common knowledge the area is mined out.

You can start small by hand digging bunds. That is how they are restoring degraded land in Tanzania. There are videos about it here on YT. Bunds are the shape of a half circle & they point the shallow end to catch any rain that does fall in the direction of prevailing wind. You just need shovels & pickaxes & volunteers. You can do it! Every drop of rain you save is vital to plant life.

Bless you for the work you do! A few years back, my family had a piece of land that someone wanted to put a road through in the Laurentian Mountains in Quebec, Canada. It wasn't the shortest or the least damaging root, but the other root was protested by the land owners. There were many streams, and it was discovered endangered plant and animal species. The area covered about 30 acres. Our family decided, once the road was stopped, to donate the land to a conservation authority, making it a permanent protected wildlife park. Just joined because of this (and your many other videos). I just returned from visiting a friend who's living in Colombia. We spent about a week staying at different ecolodges/eco tourism spots. It was truly amazing to see the jungle and eye opening to see the unending cow pastures and coffee farms. It was interesting to learn about the restoration and eco tourism undertaken by the locals. Personally, I've always felt a little guilty or uncomfortable about my impact as a "tourist" or foreign traveler from a wealthy country or even just the emissions from flying for pleasure. This felt like a net positive trip by providing some income to local eco oriented businesses. Long story short, I got home, watched this video and felt a closer connection to the content than I have in the past and pulled the trigger on a membership. Thanks Mossy earth for being a vehicle for change, small and large. And for inspiring me and others. I'd like to buy a small piece of land in the North East US to re-wild at some point in my life.

I am so amazed by your video! I visited Ecuador in 2022 and spent 3 days in a lodge in the Napo river in Amazon. It was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. And that trip really made more aware of how important it is to protect biodiversity and our planet. Please protect nature!

Proving that the intact rainforest has economic value to people is probably the most valuable thing you could be doing in the Amazon, and I can see the care with which you selected a location. If local government and businesses can see the value, if individual farmers have a model for keeping rainforest intact and making a living doing it, it could mean a lot more forest saved by others in the near future. I love this project, even though it's a bit different from Mossy Earth's usual projects.

The filmography really looks so good. I think the line about how rainforest conservation being a bourgeois pursuit is such a kind and nuanced way to look at the situation and that’s why I love to watch Mossy Earth videos.

Fantastic! So fabulous that we members have made such an important investment in the future of the Amazon. Thank you to your team and Adriana in particular, for finding the place in the first place and then pushing through the purchase. But special thanks to Fredy I think. I love that we can work with him and more of the locals to steward to land, and hopefully provide meaningful income to the local community, as well as all the other benefits having the land allows. I'm so enthused 🙂

This is awesome project in our continent.

Can you do it in belgium especially flanders we have very few wild areas once a male wolf was trying to migrate from france probably to germany but it stopped in the port of antwerp and returned sadly to his old grounds and if you fly with a plane over belgium it looks like a big tetris field with gray spots which are cities within farm ground
