We Bought a Shooting Park! 

I’m a high school trap shooting coach in MN. Trap shooting involves almost 12,000 kids in this state. Trap shooting ironically is the safest high school sport! We teach kids a sport and a skill they can use their whole live. I’m so excited for you guys to own that park, to keep it going, you are providing a great place for families to come together and enjoy something we can all participate in. I wished I lived closer, would love to work with you guys!!! Thanks!

I suffer big time from depression and sometimes when I feel down there isn’t much I can do to bring myself up because I don’t want to take medicine.. but this channel and the farming channel is one of the few things I can’t spend my time doing and lose track of my sad brain… please don’t stop making your videos it’s helping people in ways you probably never thought would be possible

Pistol range, rifle range, cowboy shooting compentations, high school compentation. Hunting and shooting educational courses. High school districts and State rifle compentation. So many things you can hold there make the most of your facility. A one stop location. Wish I lived near there!

Farm Rescue Concert Series!! Perfect setup with the camp sites and banquet hall.. Country artists love to shoot guns..

Indoor pistol/rifle range would be a nice addition. My local range (SE Wisconsin) has one and it's always busy.

Paintballing for the kids supervised would be fun or something along those lines

Maybe consider planting staggered rows of evergreens near the property line and the interstate to help reduce the noise and the distraction of passing vehicles. Congratulations Zach and Becky 🙏 I hope this endeavor turns out to be fantastic for your family in the years to come!!

Archery for sure. Range out to 100 yards. Make it so the area you shoot from is covered with a roof. Spend the money up front on quality targets. 3d archery would be a great addition too but it will be alot of maintenance. Don't let people shoot broadheads at your targets !

USPSA Steel Challenge 8 stages. Its great for all ages. Great group of people and willing to help each other. My Wife and 13yr old son shoot with me. And most gun owners have whats needed in the safe.

If you don't already have them, I'd definitely want to see some pistol bays and rifle ranges. Opens the door for many different types of competition, or just plinking.

Bicycle tracks are great,area looks flat and is an awesome healthy activity. Can be basic or a few jumps, low maintenance, easy to design, kids ride, dad shoots! I'd go but I'm in Australia.

Now were talking. Shooting and hunting is huge here in South Africa. I am going to love the content from this side, good luck with your venture. Aim small, hit small, one shot kill.

Archery area, a range, an area for people to practice concealed carry situations. (I’m sure they have a name but idk it lol) just an all around sporting park. Glad to see you keeping places like your alive

I have shot at that club when they first started hosting the state tournament back in the early 2000's. It was a wonderful club to shoot at. I wish you 4 all the best at making it even better. I haven't shot trap in a few years, actually since COVID started but will have to get back into it this year and maybe head down for a visit and check out the club again.

At my favorite Metro (area) Gun Club there are often several Whitetail deer 🦌 grazing just beyond range even during active shooting sessions. And beyond that is 35W. The deer figured it out, even surrounded by all that noise & people.

Archery, for sure. Same for sporting clays. If you have the space/safe direction then rifle and pistol ranges would be a good addition as well. Our local conservation club has a few nice ponds for the fishing crowd too. Best of luck!

For everyone wondering why they are shooting towards the highway, they are using shotguns with bird shot. They know the pellets will fall before they get to the highway and it’s completely safe.

Silhouette shooting, cowboy action shooting, archery, or an indoor range since you get a bit of cold weather in Minnesota!

As a trap shooter, it is awesome that you guys purchased the facility from the previous owner as they moved on to whatever their next thing is. From the general looks of it, it was well maintained, etc. Shooting facilities are getting harder and harder to access and I imagine significant expense are involved (just facility maintenance, insurance, greasing the local council members, etc, etc, etc. ) . Alexandria is growing, and I am sure you will do well! I don't know if you want to do go-cart stuff and get into a motor sports thing? I probably would not, but I don't know the local market - something to think about? When I visit my buddies in Brandon, I will stop by and shoot a few rounds of trap. Maybe I get my 75 patch at your range. As I am sure you guys know, adding a rifle and pistol range is whole different level of everything. Maybe an indoor pistol range is possible, but outdoor rifle changes.

An archery digital decoy course is always fun. I do 5 stand during the winter almost every Saturday.

love it. When my son son was between ages 8-11 he was on a skeet shooting team. We resided in Bourbon county, hence the team was called the Bourbon Shooters. The funny thing is one of his teamates had a Benelli shotgun, that was 15 years ago, he's a Husband, Father and a Farmer as I type this. Bird Dog Field Trials would be a sweet add - and it looks like you have plenty of room for that! Potential sporting dog clubs, AKC, etc for sponsors! *EDIT* Also corporate sponsors like Mercury, Evinrude, Lowe, Lund, etc for waterfowl hunters - perhaps you also could lease water access for Water Dogs?!

Archery and just open the park up for in state or out of state folks to be allowed to come and use park area for plain target shooting practice to have fun and enjoy different scenery.

We were also there this summer for the Youth Outdoor event day and saw over 5000 people pass thru We were working a booth to promote snowmobiling in Mn. Terrific event and one group handed out free rod and reel sets About 3500 sets handed out good luck with this project Zach and Becky and the others

Would highly recommend adding a 5 stand course. My local club has a heated semi trailer overlooking the course. It's a blast to do in a winter and a popular league sport for local shooters.

Event ideas for Alexandria Shooting Park: - Turkey shoot & polka dancing (not at the same time) ...you betcha. - After each Christmas, you could host a "BYOT" (bring your own tree) Christmas tree sporting shoot to de-trim your Christmas tree and officially transition from Christmas season. - RC car (or airplane) sporting shoot - Arial video familiarization training and video editing training event (sponsored) - more to follow...

Good fun! indoor 22 shoots will help get you thru the winter. 5 - stand is good. youth field days to get the younguns involved.

Shot there all 4 years of high school for the state shoot. Definitely the highlight of the summer and trap season. It was fun then, I can imagine how it will be with the new owners!!

Just got done at the high school championship shot like shit but had a great time so excited to see what you guys can bring to the park. Ive been shooting there almost a decade now and have been watching your youtube a for quite a few years now keep up the great work!

That is awesome Zack! From the camera view that hwy needs to be covered, ie, trees, bushes or a fence? It looks like a big distraction and a good excuse for missing targets! Trap excuses :) Now if i go to nationals for my sons shooting i might need to drive so we can stop by there on our way through! You could start a Jr. league ( 6th through 12th grade) for trap and bow! Got to get the kids into it and they always have a great time!

Been there a couple times when my son was in the high school trap league and it’s a great place. A little windy at times though! Can’t wait to see what you guys do with it.

It was really interesting I was sorting through a bunch of empty 12 GA. Hulls and found several boxes of Alexandria Minnesota Shooting Park Hulls. Not sure how old they are, once fired. What a coincidence..

Congratulations on your shooting park. We need to help the next generation learn how to safely shoot and enjoy the sport.

Shade trees would be a big plus in the rv areas. Small shelters, just a roof with seating. To be family friendly, possibly a swimming pool, also a children's play area. Our family had a reunion there years ago. The complaints were. No Shade and nothing for the children to do.

Zach is thinking a few rounds with the planter in a corn and bean rotation.

When I was a kid learning to shoot my bow, my dad took me to shooting ranges that had targets along a path (in PA, forested mountain & open fields with moving targets) which was kind of like hiking trails & targets at different distances. Was really fun.

Food trucks , Beer Taps, mosquito killers you know, the frozen tundra , planting and harvest season, that shortens the year for sure.

If you haven’t done it talk to you lawyer about putting your shooting range investment in a LLC. Be sure you have plenty of liability insurance and that your partners are all insured. If there’s an accident the plaintiff lawyers will come after the deepest pocket.

Not sure on how much space you have available but prs 22 nrl22 matches draw alot of people and you only need 1-400 yards really prolly 300 yards and its a ton of fun

My buddy and I drove through Alexandria this fall going to eden south dakota to phesent hunt and I said to him hey this is where they millenial farmer guy is from and now you go and buy a shooting park. You need to get Matt from demo ranch up there and do some Colabs with other prominent spot shooters and archers like Cameron Hanes

You need a pistol and rife range and a protected range for the special advance equipment. How about a radio controlled airplane field. That group is usually a cool group.

Perhaps a paintball course? Do you have any connections with people that can bring heavy artillery? Down here we have a gun store that has a customer appreciation day. Many different events going on but one thing they do is offer the chance to shoot a full auto gun. Yes you pay to shoot but people get a heck of a kick out of it. But that often you can shoot something that is fully automatic. Youth gun training? Perhaps that would go well.

We need a rifle range with some distance in this area, open all year. An indoor pistol/ rifle range would be amazing!

3D archery range would be sweet. The more technical the range the better crowds you’ll get. Definitely want distance shoot from stands or different heights and moving targets. Would take off like a wild fire. When I was a kid local towns would do weekend turkey shoots all the time. Always a great way to bring out a family crowd. I’d get FBN involved in sponsoring some type of events. Simplot Nutrien Mosaic Syngenta any big name AG company get them involved put up a poster for them and the place could really take off. Looks sweet. Enjoy the shooting while you still can.

i take it that's plenty of distance to the road for trap shooting? I would have thought you needed more space. Mostly shoot rifles so all the red glags are going off in my head shooting towards a road like that but pretty sure they wouldn't let a range be there if it wasn't fine.

I'd love to get the history of this place. Maybe interview the previous owners. Give us the background story on how you and Becky became part owners. But all that might be a little slow for hammer down channel.

Bit too far from Atlanta to visit, but this looks great. Do consider sporting clays--they are a bit more hunting-focused, and that is a target market. Also consider adding Target Focused Life to the permanent channel links here. (Probably should back-link to Millennial Farmer, too.)

It would be nice to hopefully see you guys trying and include something for the rifle and pistol community as well As archery and skeet and trap shooting
