We bought a VINTAGE Japanese Campervan! 

OMG, I can't wait to see what you two do with this. It'll be strange not seeing you in the Doblo, but being able to stand and have a bathroom/🚿 will be a game changer. You'll lose the stealth factor but like you said, you can see yourself living in it.

Handbrake is the same as the old VW type 2 bay window campers. Word of caution! They can let go sometimes if the ratchet is worn slightly. I used to hold on to mine at traffic lights on a steep hill. 😂 Love it. Very retro. So much space! You could play table tennis in there compared to Dobbie van. 😂

This is brilliant. Hilarious to see you both trying to be positive. Rip everything out and make it amazing. I love a Japanese camper. ❤🎉

I am confident that you have the resources and skills to put this right. A great project for this year. The main benefit for you both here is the SPACE! Maybe you could start by working on the underneath. A bit of welding perhaps and some rust protection?

Your new van is like my Doblo with NO Power steering. I have VAZ 2101 and Trabant 601 they are also without power steering.. real fun 😅

WOW...! Good luck...!!! Next time consider buying a 2013 VW T2 Kombi (like mine) the last year they were produced in Brazil. Quite new. And then, shipping it to Europe. Mine is a panel van with only 49.300 miles on it and in perfect conditions. Her value today is about 7.500 pounds Sterling only, which makes it terribly interesting to acquire and ship it home to the UK. Engine (original) is a VW 1.4 (4 cyl. 86 HP petrol/ethanol water cooled) You may transform it into a high top model for standing up inside for less than 1.000 pounds. Lovely, reliable, fun and nostalgic way to go! There are thousands of "Kombihomes" as we call them around here and parts are cheap and abundant.

Love it, such a perfect size for you two! I would say the only thing that’s preventing that vehicle being the perfect replacement for the doblo is the engine. I’m not sure it would be reliable enough or powerful enough to go on some of the adventures you’ve already been on. Anything’s possible though :) look forwards to seeing what you do with it!

So exciting! I'd really enjoy updating the interior but would be terrified of mechanical issues but you have been very 'hands on' with the mechanical issue on the Doblo so it may seem less daunting for you! I'd paint the frames of the cupboards then wrap the doors in some funky fabric with matching seat covers. I bet you end up sleeping on the big bed but the overhead one will be great for storing the duvet during the day x

Sorry to be negative, but that will use twice the fuel of your Doblo and spares will be expensive; if you can get them. Plus it isn't stealthy. I can see the attraction of the extra space. Looks like you were in Burnham on Sea.
