Great video, you two are inspiring! You need a fence, so you make one, want a pool so you adapt one, want to grow food so you build a greenhouse & install raised beds, a sickly pup turns up so you nurse her back to health & make her one of the family, need shade so put an awning on the house & so many other projects too many to mention. Everything you do you finish once you've started & your whole attitude to life is the best, I have respect in bucket loads for you both.

My husband and I live off grid in the western US. We've been renovating our place and 60 acres for almost 4 years. Every Sunday evening, we settle in to watch our favorite couple in Portugal chip away at their own projects... It's so nice to sit and eat cheesecake while we watch someone ELSE do roofing work! 😆 Seriously, what you're doing is very impressive and we love you both! ❤
60 acres! ! ? ? I would love 5 to 10 acres, fenced in for the safety of my dogs, and a small, tiny home with an open floor plan. . . And no stairs! 58 and getting younger every year!!
Judging by the journeys I follow of people immigrating to Portugal, the stray animals seem to be finding fantastic new families. I can only guess how much Poppy has added to your experience, but I can't imagine it without her. Great watching your journey guys.❤

@@LifebyLiving Give it time and you will. There is really NOTHING like it in the world. It's indescribable. During the process it can be so frustrating. Tired like you never knew what tired was, busted knuckles, smashed fingers, almost throwing in the towel, etc..but once it's all complete and you get to live in that completed project/dream on a daily basis, then the constant amazement and euphoria sets in and it's the most alive I've ever felt. You just keep realizing you actually pulled it off, when you never thought it would ever happen. There really is nothing like that feeling.
I still cannot get over how great the roof looks, it was amazing that you did it all yourselves. I remember how much work was involved in making the gravel track. Endless trips with a wheelbarrow. And the most labour intensive job of all, putting the world's most complicated greenhouse together. Great work Ricky and Victoria, plus Teddy and Poppy who were happy to observe and supervise at every step of the way.

Yes, upon a time.. There were trade schools, until they were practically defunded (and everyone told to get a university education instead). We don't seem to have learned this: there is a middle way.

God bless you for saving Poppy and giving her a permanent loving home. She is obviously so happy now with her doggie brother. I have read that animals are abandoned all over Portugal. There is a beach in the Algarve where people dump dogs all the time. They desperately need spay/neuter programs and a law requiring pet owners to fix their pets before their first heat. Animals being abandoned, starving, dying from disease and accidents is a tragedy that can be prevented if they aren’t born in the first place. PS-your farm is beautiful!🌷🙏🏻

My husband and i are busy planning to do a move just like this. So glad to see another family doing it. We are in our late 50's so hopefully we have still got enough energy to do it.
