Hum... USS is super aggro when it comes to filming within their facilities... You've probably seen signs specifically saying NOT to film and take pics for social medias... Would probably be ok, but you filmed your own ID #... USS can and will track it if they see that video and your exporter will be in trouble for letting you bid but also for letting you film within their facilities... I'm an exporter myself, I'd edit that ASAP if you can blur it... They are super super annoying with that

When I was there I saw a the most unusual thing a bloke named damo had i believe a AU Falcon and he did what I believe is a shoeie then jumped in hes Falcon and did what you call it a mint tip in with fully sick welded diff and a 6 speed manual.

Moog's point @ 18:58 ~ is so true. I had travelled to Japan many times in the past decade or so and now call Japan home and you just don't see as many 'hero' cars as before. And it's evident to any car enthusiast very quickly, that most Japanese car buyers stick to the same ten or so domestic mainstays. There is often very little variety in the day-to-day experience. I really think places like New Zealand are JDM havens. They just have so many new and old grey imports from Japan that are on the road. Cars long forgotten and disgarded in Japan are still roaming the streets in NZ.

I love these little kei vans. I think cars like this is what makes people real car enthusiasts. They’re not fast, they don’t look particularly cool to non car people, they don’t fit the traditional definition of cool car, but damn they are so cool. And it’s how much you smile when you see how unique and weird they are. You know why you like it but you can’t really put your finger on it. There’s something really great about liking a certain car even though it’s not the mainstream list of robot vomit 10 billion horsepower unobtainable cars. Really looking forward to seeing what this little mod box gets up to

Honestly I really love it, we need these to get imported in bulk. Inside and out looks nice and clean, doesnt have an ugly dash like a mini, doesnt have a fucked up rear like a cube. Loads of space inside and even the blue is a nice choice.

So happy for your new Spacia, Marty! I’ve been watching MCM since 2014 and you guys influenced me so much when it comes to kei cars. Moved to Japan in 2016, now my wife and I owned 2 mad Suzuki kei sports cars as daily drivers. Hope you guys too import a new Suzuki Alto Works. It’s a blast to drive! ❤

If I didn't require a vehicle capable of comfortably sitting at 110kmh for hours on end every day of the week, I'd have bought one of these in a heartbeat. I love everything about them, but in the end, I opted for an E51 Elgrand 350X. Ultra luxury, plenty of power, and those charming JDM touches like electronic curtains, or the cute Japanese girl that tells you to insert your ETC card upon startup just add so much character. For the money, JDM imports are just fantastic value.

The reason for the change in Australia is we have no car manufacturing now. Although I have no love for the commodore, falcon, carry or magna; I would prefer we still had a car industry than a handful of people are able to import awesome JDM modern cars

I've always loved the Pajero Minis as far as non-sport Kei cars. The S660 and the 90s classics are awesome too, but the regular Pajeros are so cool and the Paj Mini is just the tiny lightweight adorable version lol. Congrats on the new addition!

There's handful of those box cars in Thailand, but everywhere there's Hiace vans, Hilux and DMax utes with fake Volks and Rays wheel lowered and straight piped. There's still sex spec cars here too. The vans have big chrome wheels and LED lights and huge stereo. It's awesome here.

This Spacia model is called Mini Vellfire back in Japan because of in their top trim have a lot of luxurious equipment and fierce looks. It’s really cool. It’s on my “must have” list as well. Good choice 👍 Love it.

Why not? It’s a channel about modifying cars. They went crazy with the floor pan to make an Aussie Mira awd. Other than that it’s very stock. So much time money and effort but it’s basically a stock car. With the new one it’s as boring as it gets. A ugly tiny van. I like the idea of it. But it has to be fast. Or it’s just a boring tiny van.

Point is it’s been I think a few years since they have made a proper fast car. The Mira or this monstrosity doesn’t need to do 10’s. But High 12’s low 13’s would still embarrass some people. They have this now as the cruiser. People in Japan ran high 12’s 10+ years ago in Mira’s. With modern tech it would be a lot easier.

Quick note - a car either is JDM, or isn't - but this is still better 99% of youtubers say their local-delivered cars are JDM. In some cases it's actually better to not be JDM - like with the EU-only ZZE120 Corolla Compressor or the Australian-delivered E100 Corolla Turbo

‘Most JDM’ probably refers to the fact that it’s ONLY sold in Japan like you’d never get a USDM or CNDM Spacia Gear or anything like that, unlike where you can get a USDM RX7 or an AUDM Cuore

I never understood why not every country in the world adopts the kei-car? Europe for example got cars like the Daihatsu models and Nissans which were originally 660cc in japan but got 1.3L engines instead. Why not also adapt small engine sizes with insurance tax benefits? Would also greatly benefit emissions and fuel consumption.

Some of those turbo 660’s are actually worse for economy than the EU versions, especially at higher speeds. The little 99x cc 3 cylinders used in many of the post 2010 micro cars are really good little motors. I have driven lots over the years and some were quite fast! The Citroen C1 is tiny bit drives great, the French are almost as good as Japan at the little car game IMO. The older 1.3L engines like the Ford Ecotec, Toyota 4efe etc were of their time, but the newer 3 cyl motors (apart from the Ford Ecobutt) are good.

There's a really well-rounded understanding of car culture in Japan in this episode. It was good of you to note that you have to keep your car on private property, and how much of an obstacle this is for a typical Kanto resident who lives in an apartment. Even with my Super Cub (Postie Bike), I have to pay the landlord of a nearby block of townhouses $60 a month to park it on their property, and when I lived in the suburbs of Yokohama I paid $20 to an old couple to park my VFR400R on the edge of their driveway. While the 'hero car' might be displaced on the roads by modern Kei Cars and the shaken system, I feel like the bike scene in Japan is still kicking. You still see so much cool stuff going around, like dry clutch NSRs and old Katanas. Probably because the licence is hard to get, and you can't park bikes in the city, most people who own bikes in Japan are enthusiasts who ride them for recreation.

I live in Japan and bought a Suzuki solio for $5000 USD owned it almost 3 years and its the best daily driver ive ever had. Super cheap on gas and insurance. Ive carried 2 full size mattresses in it. before. Its slow sure but it wins in every other way.

love it, its practical can do allot with one of those. Its small but so much space inside as they are so basic (and unsafe so less padding lol). We have "smart cars" here that are proper nuggets also would love you guys to feature one of those and do the fisherprice kids car yellow roof red body jobs on it lol (oh and you can upgrade them super easy the engine drops with rear axel, can bolt in a higher spec sportster engine/axel into a smart4two and be popping wheelies all for less than £3k and have it done within a day!). This all said so many JDM cars in the UK, people love them here. (we do import loads from japan)

I've had a Kei-Van for nearly a year and it's the only car I use now even though I have several others. I understand why they're so popular now, but mine is all electric (Mitsubishi Minicab Miev). Thanks for bringing them into the spotlight and making them cool.

Right away when it said 'Most JDM' i thought kei car. Given what JDM actually means. The hero cars were sold outside of japan in some cases/configurations. But kei cars i don't believe were/are?

I like kei cars, but I really don't understand, why they tend to be such tall. There is exactly zero benefit of having 0,5 meter of air above your head. It just makes greater front area and thus making aerodynamics (of a flying brick, I know) even worse and so its fuel consumption.

It's just a cheap, easy means of transportation from point A to point B. Excusing the monetary advantage of owning one, it's just moronic.

I really wish America would allow importing these while they are new or newish. Our 25 year rule sort sucks. To me, a kei car is perfect. Cheap, usable, efficient, and easy to drive. I'd sell my mk7.5 gti for one without question

I owned a magazine featured Honda SMX imported from Japan. Spec was insane. Should never have sold it (but would have been impossible to bring to the USA at the time.)

Me seeing this techy stuff in movies is cool owning stuff like this no I honestly don’t think I’ll ever own a car older than 99 to 05 they just aren’t affordable to buy or keep Maintained cause of the electronics in them no thanks when 1 part goes bad and costs 10,000 to replace dang I’m not a millionaire and electronics aren’t part of warranty as far as I know older mechanical carbs seem to last longer

I have a JDM car in my collection...a Nissan Cube. It is a great little car. Keeps up with traffic, good on long trips and economical. Easy to get in and out of and roomy. My wife loves it and calls it her car as we use it for shopping. I call it the shopping trolley! It still has Japanese stickers on the back, beeps in reverse and the instrument display is in Japanese but no big deal...

Super hoping the laws change in the US around these cars. These newer ones with turbos and hybrids and such could probably manage our highway speeds fine and the space offered in these "Maximize the size limits" type Kei cars is more than enough for even the people dallying utes, realistically.

Urgghhh... about hybrids: A survey of hybrid drivers in the UK revealed a ave fuel consumption of 9L per 100kms. Basically, no one is charging their hybrids. And.. thus hybrids are just unnecessarily complicated ice cars, with higher maintenance, and plenty of packaging compromises. Ave hybrid consumption for a hybrid in the UK is 9L per 100kms. Not green at all.

GUYS I have one of these in Adelaide!! It's a 2022 Spacia Gear Hybrid XZ Turbo 4WD. We love it so so much! Ours is fully optioned with radar cruise, surround cameras and car play. It's the fkn BEST!

I understand the appeal of these little cars. I went to Chile and bought the cheapest car i could find that i could sleep in. Turned out to be a kei 2 cylinder 550cc Mitsubishi L100 (minicab) van that used 5 liters of fuel for 100kms (at about 60-70kms\hr). Dual sliding doors. Big rear door. I turned it into a camper that could sleep 4 on occasions (the entire space could lay flat). I drove more that 20,000 kms between Chile, Argentina, Bolvia, Brazil... all before the whole Vanlife thing on youtube. Up and over the Los Andes 3 times, down the Bolivian road of death, it did it all. Still have it today. Its a beast.

bought from an economy that has paid jobs that put value on 0.0007246 cents as a denomination of 1... what job does someone do locally to make 0.0007246 cents? "nickel and diming so many in a large group just to meet the entry limit" interstate sales? can buy a lot of scrap iron for $15'000 but at $74/ton... that car only weighs? whatever a exportation limit and sanctions committee says, the other 14800 really is bracketed time based individual effort that remains at play for compensation. 200 tons for a watt!?!? lunacy and loony sea, just wants to bath in them for a weekend? told to carry them to the bank as all 20'700'000... for selling it now becomes self entered into a community game show... collect the coins? nearly 4000kg of them at play! hungry hungry hippo game IRL...

They are trying to close them down here in the States as soon as they are starting to become popular.... safety issues apparently. Several states have already made them non street legal.

Wouldn't "the most JDM" be a car that is ONLY available in tje japanese market and has never been officially exported? (Private exportes not counted) But I guess that applies for most kei cars...

Start using your phone upside down when you use it for navigation, screen should flip for you. It'll save your charge plugs and make the dumb assistant on the phone sound more clear.
