Never stayed at a Cracker Barrel. Never travel without a confirmed reservation. And why would you use a pee bag? You are towing a bathroom and a 40-gallon black tank. Pull over and use it. Certainly sounds preferable to trying to pee while traveling 60 mph.
My wife is a nurse and we are planning on doing the traveling nurse thing and with your Channel I have definitely learned a lot. Thank you and safe travels
We FT in a MH so my spouse can get up and use our rest room, get something to drink, etc. any time she likes (within reason of course) - no peepee bag for us. BTW, we passed through Kerrville last Sunday. We overnighted at the Westbound I-10 rest area just east of there. We liked it because it has little pavilions for picnicking and a free dump station too.
So, we are on our maiden voyage of Full-Time RVing. Today was our first decent travel day since we started on 4/12. Tomorrow once again we have crazy winds coming and we are scrambling to find a place to park overnight....preferably free or cheap. Thanks for showing us that we are not alone.
We have 118-gallon bed tank on our 2017 Denali dually. It saves a lot of time on those long road trips. From my RV transport days but saves us a lot of time on our annual camping road trips.
We have stayed at a few CB but I always call weeks ahead and check them call on the day in coming in and we always eat supper before we turn in for the night, all of our experiences at CB have been good so far.
We have a new 5er with the pull down stairs (which I had decided against after watching a previous video of yours), oh vell, it came with the package. Well on our way down to So FL in January this year CB was pretty packed tight, needed to put our bed slide out and leave those stairs down! Glad we had big cones! Hate those long drive days but hubby is very destination oriented, we had already lost 1/2 a day due to severe storms. We left from 10 degrees in CO, got to Shreveport in 2 days. Ugh! I ❤your videos!
Here’s a tip for Cracker Barrel locations, look for the little RV or bus on the billboards. If there is a little RV, you can park over night. Not all CB’s allow overnight parking. Love your videos be safe!!
Thank you. That’s a great tip. I don’t RV. I drive a Prius, which apparently people sometimes live in. I would just want to be able to park among the somewhat civilized people. Walmart has lost its appeal. I want my park amongst the civilized folks and live to tell about the experience.
I told you we’re getting to live full time on the road. My Dad & Mom had four different motor homes and traveled for 40+ years. My siblings had rv’s. And fifth wheels. So, I’m not new to this kind of life. But the two of you brighten our days. Thank you.
Whew...glad you didn't spill too many secrets about Matagorda...keep it secret. Keep it safe. Again, Great to meet Kyle...Carl next to our site in 'Gorda. We could see our camper at 1:01 neighbor! Wish we could have shared some fresh redfish. Crackerdocking....yeahhhhh....the few we have picked to dock were small and VERY not level. Slide out all the way into the flowers...and hot enough to fire up the generator for some AC. Sorry...not sorry. Crackerdocking is convenient, but unfortunately we weren't able to say long enough for breakfast since they don't open at the cracker of dawn (haahaha).
Just heard about CB parking yesterday, and wasn't really sure if I believed it or not...Thanks for a great vid and clearing it up for me! New subscriber, and looking forward to more tips from y'all during my 6 week cross-country trip starting next week (9-6-23). Happy RVing everyone, see ya on the road! 😃
Hello friends! We are at Lake Havasu City, AZ and we're keeping our eyes open. We are going to catch up with all you peeps one of these days. On our way to Lake Mead.
I was stunned how many RV parks were unavailable my last trip. I usually call ahead but I thought I’d just find one along the way. NOPE. A couple said u have to have reservations and had gates. Others were closed. All Stays App is pretty good but it’s nice having a generator to pull into a Walmart.
Oh no! We are sorry to hear this, Jim. We are glad that AllStays was at least helpful in some aspect. We hope that you stay safe out on the road. Thank you for your love and support!
On our way to and from Florida, we always stayed at CB. Never had an issue, except one night we had to move because at 11pm a construction crew moved in to do renovations on the building.
When you guys were talking about using the pee bag to hold snacks, it reminded me of working at the hospital and using a [clean] specimen collection hat to hold Halloween candy at the nurse’s station. Iykyk
@happilyeverhanks …… For the love of God, please get yourselves a genny and some solar! Every time y’all boondock like this, y’all give me so much anxiety lol I may just be stressed out more than you are 😂😂😂
There is another fuel app RV'ers use called "Mudflap" different stations from open roads similar discount. We keep a kobalt 24 volt fan with us works great all night long, recharge the batteries when you are on shore power. Same battery as our drill and blower, keep er moving 🚌
I love using RV Parky myself, it gives me Rest Areas, CB overnight parking, truck stop all with reviews, so you know how tight it is and what size RV will fit.
You can try using lavender scented things on or near his kennel. I will be in your shoes soon with THREE Cats!😂 I have drugs though if needed. 😂 My girls usually calm down after a bit. My boy, has only been in the car twice, coming from the vet once, and when we had to move in with a friend the next time. He wasn’t happy, he hid under everything, but didn’t make much noise.
I couldn’t care less what corner has a Cracker Barrel, but H-E-B is one of the greatest places on earth to go for food. I moved from Texas to West Virginia in 2017. I still say I’m going to H-E-B. It’s a mystery. Is she hallucinating, or is she planning a long distance grocery trip? The best grocery store in this area, Martin’s, can’t compare.
Hope you are enjoying West Virginia! What a beautiful part of the country 😊 We still have yet to visit a H-E-B or a Martin's, but we will certainly keep your comment in mind! Thank you for all your support - Kyle and Renee
Love ya guys. We are 6 years behind ya. Just hitting the 1 year full time mark. Who are the two couple your traveling with? When we started out we followed SEVERAL RV’ers. You and one other (all about RV’s) are the only ones we still follow. Looking for some more we agree with. Like you 3.
They are two couples we met while full-timing! They are all such great people and so fun to caravan with! You can follow @itsme.rainilee on YT, IG, and FB to see more caravan fun!
@@HappilyEverHanks you mean you don’t have a private helicopter following you around for those shots? LOL thanks for your time and dedication for the videos hanks!
Hi Shawna! Thank you so much for watching our videos and taking the time to comment 🤗 Hopefully you made some great memories while you had the RV! We hope to hear from you again soon
We really enjoy watching your videos and have been rving for the past couple of years now (weekly trips). We have been staying at Cracker Barrels and only once found one that wouldn't allow us to use their parking lot overnight. We always call ahead for permission. Stay well and enjoy the summer.
Just stayed at a Cracker Barrel for the 1st time. Had a nice quiet night but I have to say the food...well, not great when you have celiac disease. I mean their grits aren't gluten free??? Anyway, I'd do it again if I needed to. Yes, patronize all the places you can stay for free!
In our area, putting a slid and/or awning out, running the generator all night shows you are not parking but camping and will get you "shamed" by other RV'ers. Our WallyWorld and CB (Off I-95 in VA) does not allow overnight parking because of complaints from the locals due to abuse.
I agree! The road trips can be stressful. We just started RVING and we absolutely love it but I find myself getting those butterflies and just being a nervous wreck while on the road! Still love it though😊, LOL
Maybe I'm just paranoid, and I apologize if I am, but I prefer to have room in front of me to (hopefully) be able to pull out if needed. Also, I don't like being right at a tree line. There are just too many truckers and travelers disappearing and like I said, I am paranoid! You guys were in a group, though, which is safer and a lot more fun! ❤ My hubster has degenerative disc disease so a lot of people don't see him because he's inside while I'm getting stuff done outside, so they assume I'm alone. Because I love him so much, I feel like I have to go out of my way to make sure we're safe! Because we're going to have to boondock a lot, any tips are always appreciated! We have been full time RV'ers in the past and are going to be doing it again soon. Your videos are great and I really appreciate y'all! ❤️
Boondocking is okay but if you keep that battery low on charge it will cost you a battery soon. go ahead and get a couple of 200W solar panels to keep the battery charged. and when the one battery goes you can add two batteries with the two Solar panels and boondocking will be much better. Safe traves.
Try this! 5 one hundred amp lithium batteries, 400 watt solar panel, you can run a 12 volt ac, and induction grill ( stove) all your pumps, TV, charging ports and never have to do anything for eleven years. No generator oil changes, no noise from gens in CB. To me a no brainer. Our sprinter has above. What I stated, works great. 82 is a bit warm, but your dometic 12 volt ac is da bomb! Look into it!
Find it interesting that all three trucks are really close. I would of thought the 250 would struggle. What does your traveling companions do? Odd to find one couple traveling but three?? Really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work.
@@HappilyEverHanks do the Hanks think they will ever go back to be Traveling Nurses? I know Dexter said he is staying retired. Another Thursday completed with the Hanks. Thanks Hanks.
I just read an article from the Driving and Vibing guy and I can’t believe he trashed you guys I guess some people look for controversy and desperate to produce content. I thought what guys did was cool because you were at the end of the parking lot and didn’t effect traffic or anyone. 🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
Yep Cracker Barrel is amazing..we just went off grid in a 95 flair and we stayed in there parking lot for : days to figure this Motorhome out and they didn’t care..but then again we ate there 3 times a day lol
We are also full time and when just passing thru we always use cracker barrel. Yous guys are even more fun than the comedy channel. 1tip if I may. Since you only have 1 battery. Unplug your 7 wire connector from your truck. That way if you use up your camper battery it will not drain your truck battery. This will help your truck to start in the morning. Just saying. Travel safe. Robert Woods.
Morn guy's. I don't want to get personal but can I ask how in the world do you guys' afford these good times with such nice rigs? Truck, 5th wheel and maintenance alone. Not including everyday needs. I know, your 1st trip out you found the rainbow with the pot of gold!! lol Thank You and stay safe.
Hi there! Thank you for your wonderful support. We can only speak for ourselves, but to give you a little back story..we started off as travel nurses working in the ER. We worked extremely hard over 3 years to completely pay off our debt (Dave Ramsey). Once the truck and RV were paid for, it allowed us to continue saving for expenses such as what you listed above 😃
I drive behind in the car and 2 of my 3 boys usually ride with me. The 8 year always has to pee before we can stop and it’s always an “emergency”. I have learned to keep a Starbucks frap bottle with me. He thinks it’s hilarious to pee in the bottle while we’re moving!! (Just gotta watch the potholes😬). Then we seal it up and dispose of it at our next stop. I don’t think I’d be ok with those pee bags though. Not enough structure! 😂
Renee, In one video you shared how you connect your phone to the TV so you are using the unlimited data. Can you tell me what brand and model phone you have? I have a Moto Stylus g5 and it won’t work. Thank you, Terry
My wife sets our travel day to 4 sometimes 5 hours 6 is pushing it and makes her angry so i don't push it for her. As for Cracker Barrel and Walmart never stayed at one but doesn't mean i won't.
Never used a Pee Bag. In a Class C there is a pass through to the living section, you can pull over on an exit ramp and walk right back to the rest room without even stepping out of the vehicle. The concept seems primitive to me, so last millennium.
There are Many Places You Can Stop For a Nights Stay;; When We/i Park at One. I allways. Ask Before I Park and Always . Pey Them $20.00 to $30.00 For Letting Me Park There.. Tha Parking Is A Big Investment. And IS NOT INTENDED FOR FREELOADERS;;
I really enjoy all of your videos I currently have a 27 ft Freedom Express travel trailer I pull with a 2019 Ford F-250 I have all the heavy suspension and gross weight of 10000 on the truck My pay load is 3138 Anyway my question is what size truck are you using to Pull soli I am thinking about upgrading to a solitude like yours the travel trailer is a little small it is just My wife myself and our cat (Cleo)
My rule of thumb regarding guessing how long a trip will take is to completely ignore what Google Maps says is transit time and simply look at the total miles and divide by 50. That will indicate your trips elapsed time. Works pretty well, based on assumption that you go average of 65 mph on interstates when you can. Includes fuel and “green grass” stops, and sometimes slower speeds in congested traffic. I also have recently decided that I do not want to travel more than 400 mi per day, or arrive later than 5:00 (which sometimes is 6:00) depending on unforeseen traffic issues. We are still vacationers trying to make the most of our time so sometimes a leisurely travel style is not viable. We also do not have the whole “solar package” but do have two liquid acid batteries. Our next step would be to go to two lithium batteries and a DC to DC charger on the truck. We also have a Honda i2200 generator. Loved your episode… not sure how you broke etiquette though.
Someone is delusional about children. Good idea to wait😂 love a Mom of 5 that had 5 car screaming babies for 18 months stretches the past 12 years. Screaming baby. Inconsolable in the car. All of them. Just my experience? We are ready for the road now that our 2 year old loves the car😅
I love RVParky for finding overnights. I’ve found that app to be super helpful and it seems to be updates fairly accurate. The reviews are also super helpful.
I don't get it... what etiquette did you actually break? What the heck did I miss? All I saw was things you did that you recommend everyone does... but what did you do that people shouldn't?
Having a cat is WAY better than having a kid. But, don't take my word for it. Ask any post-partum vagina! Sure, the kids grow up, but that just means the drama segues into new forms.
