Love the Army blower! Maybe put retractable wings on the outside of the blower? might be able to get more snow channeled into the blower. More snow weight might help stuff the blower better rather than just pushing it as you drive
your next add-on for the snow blower should be some mudflaps on the sides of the blower to help guide the snow into the blades. An easy add and it will make it throw more snow out the shoot. You could also add dolly wheels instead of feet to it, then you can go as fast as you want :)
I put in an impeller kit on my snow blower this winter. Basically you bolt hard rubber pieces on the end of the interior impeller which closes the gap between the housing and the blades. Made a huge difference in how far the blower throws snow and keeps the chute clean. I’m sure you could manufacture something for the beast you have.
I've seen a reasonable amount of editions as you have suggested and they all seem to to greatly improve the second stage of the blowers quite well! When I do it I'm going to leave a very small gap between the Rubber and the housing so it's not constantly scraping. Did you do the same or did you go flush to the housing?
@@billvandorn5332 I'd make them to almost touch at the closest point of the housing. I should do that to my snow blower but in a typical winter where I live I might need to use the blower twice. Then at the end of winter I forget all about doing any modifications. I just want to dump StaBil in the tank and run it a last time before putting it away.
@@billvandorn5332 I left perhaps a 1/16 - 1/8 gap and only because there were bolt heads. With a blower that size, I wouldn't worry about scraping. The rubber will wear and they'll have a tight seal. I've heard of people using conveyor belt material. I bought mine from Amazon, but I don't think they'll have any the size they'll need for that monster. Mine are at least 3/8 " thick. for that unit go for the thickest material you can find.
@@petejansen1534 I've heard of people using mud flaps from tractor trailers. The next time I see one on the road and I can safely pick it up without getting run over, I'm going for it
You may find that when it's REALLY icy you need to back down the road, spreading sand before (behind) you drive on the ice, so the Army truck doesn't pirouette off the road, flinging sand where it used to be. The tire chains will help, of course. Very expressive snow dance, Riley, and it seems to have worked! There will be those skeptics who will say the snow was coming anyway, but we know better.
Man, your road looks soooo good!! I think the scale of that MASSIVE job is still the most impressive thing you’ve accomplished so far!! And, you two have accomplished a lot of impressive stuff. Now with the snow blower and sand spreader fully functional it must feel so good to know you have the ability to keep your road safe and in top shape. Well done!!
@@AmbitionStrikes for sure!! I can imagine with all you’re busy with…constant building and improvements etc…plus, family time, it’s easy to forget some of the grind. Awesome that you have the video history to look back on.
I operate a big snowblower, and we increase the blower by putting rubber seals between the 2nd stage impeller and the chute. Another one on the cutting edge, help to not pick up gravel.
Edging to 500k, keep it up. Good to see you 3 back. That seems to work great. Put a little velcro mount for the control just above the steering wheel, seal the cab and get some heat in there!
If you take a galvanized culvert and cut a hole in your pressurized wood at the bottom to run culvert perpendicular to the opening through the bottom of your sand pile. Then use a propane torpedo heater to shoot the heat into the culvert keeping sand pile thawed. You could put a timer on the heater to come on a few hours before you're going to load up.
You need a mirror on the middle driver side of the sand hopper, that points at your driver side mirror... so you can look into the hopper and see when the sand is getting really low. NOw that you dont have to work the throttle on the blower you have time to check on sand levels...
You certainly had a load of fun with your new, exciting fun toys. It makes having snow almost worthwhile for you, but please, you may keep the snow and all the fun with you. Seeing you enjoy the winter gift is enough for me.
Nice to see you have a toy to makes you smile when it snows. Well done for making it work and keep yourselves safe guys. Good video, thanks and have fun!
Every home needs a Riley and a Courtney. Oliver is so cute. We have a one year old Oliver great grandson He is so fun to have around. Teamwork makes the dream work.
I would recommend a cover over the sander, it will help keep the material from getting wet and also don’t leave it full! It will freeze and that’s not fun!
Oh and for your sand bunker you should get some big horse mats to put on top of the gravel in the bunker and then put the sand on top of the horse mat!! They definitely help so that you can just get the sand and not your rock on the bottom!!! You should definitely try it out!!!
I love it when a plan comes through! I agree winter has been a long time coming but now it is really cold! We love watching you two together doing your thing!
I am truly convinced that if Riley was an engineer for NASA, we would have been back on the moon years ago !! After all these years, Ambition Strikes is still one of my FAVORITES !! 👍👍
If you want to clear a wider path, you could fabricate some adjustable wings to either side of the blower box. Use them to keep from packing the snow with the rear wheels before you get to blow it. If there’s a rear steer package for the truck, the helps with clearing around obstacles.
Looks great, try adding a tarp to cover top of spreader that way rain will not get in there and freeze. The manufacture of that spreader probably already makes one. If not a small tarp would suffice.
A few adjustement on the slow blower so it doesn't push most of the snow, but your setup look really great ! You might have underestimated your sand requirement... But hey it the first year ;)
Hey neighbor (across the lake) - every time I watch you build a new machine I fantasize about building a hybrid snowcat/excavator for year-round fun. It’s -10°F up at my cabin and I just want to get out and have fun! Hopefully one of these days we’ll meet at Home Depot. Happy New Year!
Oliver is so cute I agree with wheels on the snowblower I lived in Minnesota for 70 years all the tips you have been given are great once the ground freezes you won't need the wheels
Hey Riley & Courtney , this is off topic , but another idea for a video . What do you guys do with food waste ? And trash? I’m hoping there’s a food disposal unit that works kind of like your incinerator toilet :-)
16:36 I love your interpretation of the pictograph. I also like to look at them as if I can't read ether. Like the one on plastic totes that shows that a child can't fit in it sitting up... You must have to lay them down. Makes sense.
Need to add some wings & drift cutters to the snow blower. I love it. The wings are simple. Sheet metal (maybe 12ga) the height of the blower bolted to the sides. Bent about 45° & back straight again. A stretched out Z. Add gussets for big machine. Then attach some drift cutters to them for really tall drifts. A drift cutter can be 12ga also, cut 2" x 47" with a few holes for bolt on. Bent 45° the full length a 1/2" from the side to stiffen it. If you might not have a brake, just plasma bend reliefs & weld shut.
I know it doesn't really matter but it would have been satisfying to see the road fully cleared. It's still fun seeing the joy you have when something works though, especially when it works as well as you'd hoped it would.
If you can slow down the spinner as those sanders are meant to be in the back of a pickup truck which puts the spinner about a foot off of the ground. Also, a good speed to sand is 25 mph or less. I used to plow for the state I live in, you may need to back down the hill if it gets to icy.
ITs great to see the blower working =A couple of things you might want to do Is to cover the holes in the back of the army truck cab when you arent using them to keep the creators out and and moister out. You should also get an exhaust hose for your shop to get the CO and other exhaust gases outside. to protect you floor in your shop from the studs and snow chains get old conveyor belting to lay on the floor
We in iowa love love watching you guys grow and adapt to changes each year... soon you'll need home addition for Riley's own space... I love watching you change things for your needs, fascinating to watch... you guys are awesome! ❤ joy to watch! ❤ looking forward to many more adventures with you guys 🎉🎉❤❤
Reilly, Your engineering/mechanical skills are awesome. You tackle engineering problems with the confidence of an aerospace engineer1!!!!!! You guys clearly have a management system that would be the envy of Wall Street. You certainly bought the "creme of the crop". Meyer makes the best. I have a friend who has a Meyer spreader in his 4500 Chevy dump truck. I helped him install new flights (after four seasons) in the spreader. Ye Ole Caterpillar Cowboy.
Nice tank setup, I have a thousand gallon tank with a 12v pump hooked to a deep cycle battery and a 40 watt solar panel. This worked well for me. Used to pump 200 gallons at a time filling our farm equipment. Talking about cold, its been -40 here in western Canada for the last few days.
When your child becomes a toddler the utility box on the deck will become his climbing tool to get over your deck railing, so best not to have on on the deck, or bolt it down away from the railing. Winter is fun, especial if you're young and it is the first storm of the year. I look forward to seeing you handle all the storms in January, which see to me two a week so far for your area of the world.
The sander is nice wish I had one 1️⃣ but here’s a idea 💡 for you I’d put a tarp on top you sander blower so the sand stays loose not freeze up do to the snow and or rain 🌧️ keeping it from freezing 🥶 ps love 💕 you both ❤
Your auger doesn't seem to be gathering much snow into the impeller. It just pushes the snow down the road. For a blower that big, you ought to be throwing a whole lot more snow.
Hey to help start the army truck when cold. Put a coolant heater on the truck to preheat the engine. It will run of the diesel on the truck. That way you can heat the engine before you go out to start and you will have heat already in cab.
Never add salt/ice melter of any type to a sander used on a gravel road. The melter goes down through the ice and into the road. This keeps the road unfrozen and soft. Some sand will stay on top, but much will fall down through the holes created by the melter. Grade road before freezing, plow/blow snow and sand on top as required.
The Royal Air Force tried some Swedish equipment but the British snow was too wet compared to European snow and the machines clogged up within a few yards! Freezing temperatures and "dry" snow were for what they were designed.
Congrats on getting the proper type of speed control working well. You may remember that I pointed you in that direction. That is the same controller that I am using on my diesel generator for several years now, and have never had any problem with it. I do use a different actuator and speed sensor appropriate for its Isuzu engine. You might consider using a remote speed-setting potentiometer inside the truck. there are terminals for connecting that.
Fantastic job it looks so awesome I think you did a great job put that on your truck Congratulations again Catch you on another one Stay safe stay healthy stay happy
Это самое лучшее лего что я видел, для людей у которых нет повода для лего. Ваш снег можно почистить обычным снежным плугом, но это не будет так весело ❤
You don't see the snowblower in action until 20 minutes in. Should make that truck bed a dump and get a tailgate spreader. install PTO and you can run the dump, spreader and maybe even the blower off hydraulic.
I’m not doing a snow dance, it may backfire on me and snow in South Central Mississippi. But I will root for you silently. Good luck. Waiting on the results.
Well, it is apparently backfiring on me. We are expecting freezing rain during the day. followed by snow overnight. On the bright side, it will all be gone by tomorrow afternoon.
Ahhhh hehehehe I think you BOTH you TWO have proudly earnt a NEW name “ The OverComers “ If you have problems Yoh overcome them brainstorm and solve things
Riley, Courtney, and lil Man, Just wanted to say “hey”, and share a thought I had about your garage entry point. Have you considered pouring an apron in front? It would help prevent you from blowing out your pad under that really innovative garage door of yours as you bring equipment in and out (especially when you drop the blower attachment on the floor). I’m sure you have plenty of projects in the pipeline but thought I’d toss that one at ya! Keep up the good work and stay safe!
