I'm a leftist, not a liberal. I'm not a "fan" for any of these capitalists. I just want to minimize damage, and that can't happen with Biden. I hope that clears up any confusion because I'm already getting a lot of comments like "Woo, you're right! That's why we should elect Buttigieg instead" when he's almost precisely as conservative too and misses the point of the video. I'm not "endorsing" anyone because I'm basically nobody, but woof. No.
Americans don't even understand political spectrums and terminology. Democrats like Biden and Mayor Pete are Third way new Democrats which means they are socially liberal and economically conservative. (Btw Biden has a questionable social record alone so let's remember that). While the "far left" candidates like Warren and Sanders are social Democrats which in a global spectrum is pretty center left. The fact that Warren and Sanders are viewed as out of the mainstream is ridiculous. But I'm glad we are at least talking about the damage of supply side economics and expanding the social safety net. But unfortunately this conversation so moving slowly that I'm afraid the sudden change this country needs won't come fast enough
I knew Biden was bad, but the last few weeks/months have revealed a much worse person than I thought. It's sad that the US have had a choice between centre right and full blown right wing such is the history of the s word.
@Ralphtherap I mean, better than reelection. As much as we want someone who is literally not a republican in a democratic disguise, that is *never* going to happen. I doubt that we'd even be able to get a *female president* for a while, much less an actual leftist.
Knowing how close the race was (in battleground states ofc, total population wise it was a total blowout) I genuinely think that any other nominee would've lost. If a fucking conservative dressed as a democrat can barely win, anyone else would've been crushed. It's sad to say given what that implies, but the presidential race was far narrower than it had any right to be.
To quote Samuel Johnson "Sir there is no settling the point of precedency between a louse and a flea" . I don't know or understand how USA is ever going to get over its knee jerk reaction to calling anything which the rest of the world thinks of as centrist "socialist" or "communism".

2021 here, we chose not to do better. The kids are no longer in camps though! Well... I mean they are, but now we call then "migrant facilities." It seems to have appeased the white liberals. Also, in a historical turn, Biden selected a sort of black but not too black woman who is also a cop with a ridiculously high rate of prison sentences for African Americans to be his VP! This, too, has appeased the white liberals.

As a recovering drug addict who has two years clean, and who has friends currently sitting in prison for drug charges, I can't finish this video right now. I made it to about 14:41 and it's just too much for me to handle right now because I think about people I love wasting their lives away in a prison cell when what they really need is HELP. The War on Drugs is cruel and it doesn't work. Thank you for making this video. I'm going to come back and finish it once I calm down. I didn't realize this about Biden though, and it really is changing my perspective

Never gonna happen. I saw that video, and it had some information for people unfamiliar with Biden beyond his general creepiness, but the premise, I think, was just a joke.
Joe Bidden and I come from the same hometown. Knowing Scranton as well as I do, the fact he's a politician who comes from that town alone does not give me much hope for him.

Message from nine months in the future: maybe we could have done better than Biden, but we didn't. He was the frontrunner when this was released, and there he stayed: he had no enthusiasm behind him, but "no enthusiasm" was sufficient. Whatever magic Bernie is supposed to have had didn't translate into primary votes. It's 2016 again, only worse.
One thing about the Midwest - or "flyover country" in general - Milwaukee was effectively run by the Socialist Party from 1910-1960 with (as we all know from Wayne's World) three socialist mayors. Oklahoma had one of the most active socialist parties in the 1910s before the Red Scare started. After WW1, Alabama's Communist Party (CPUSA) had a very active base with poor black folks. The CPUSA was also active with farmers in Montana. When you have no left alternative or the left is violently suppressed (see: spartacist uprising in post WW1 Germany), people won't turn to the center.
Here I am, in August of 2020, watching this video. It's Biden vs Trump, and while things don't appear to be looking well for Trump, that doesn't really mean anything as we've seen. I am filled with so much disappointment for the US, and feel powerless to affect any real or significant change.
It's insane how close Trump pulled ahead at the end. Makes me shiver to think what would've happened if we had a candidate who was even slightly less conservative.
8:16 Holy shit! I was super surprised to see my family's hometown featured here, but very very glad. Jonesville, and all of it's many problems feel so forgotten. Most of my family members attended Block High. It goes all the way down to my young cousins who are currently attending. It's rundown, the curriculum is poor. It's ridiculous. I hadn't seen this video until now, post- Labor Day. It's weird how things worked out and B. got the nomination, given that this info was known. Weird that Jim Clyburn endorsed him and it apparently made the difference. Weird that Kamala criticized him over bussing and B. put her on the ticket. I guess their message to the voters, especially black voters is: Trump is worse. That is not a positive message for our country.
How sad. Whenever I would try to tell people reasons why Joe Biden is bad, they did NOT want to hear it. Not a soul. No one. Plenty of people got mad at me though.
