Wow that ending with nova had me howling lije a baby ...what a speeial litthe girly so happy had an.amaxy first day ..beautiful children amazing parents ..thanku si much for this incredible journey ..its been.Phenomenal looking forward for whats to comeb...you are special thanku so much for everything much love and God bless always from Cyprus x
Thanks so much Wendy. Sounds like we had several people in tears! Thanks as always for your sweet comments. I think about you often in beautiful Cyprus.
rats are so easy to catch, 5 gallon bucket 1/4 full of water.. they don't know any better, get in, cannot get out... keep em around your home, you can hire those guys that have ferrets so forth trained to get em..
Wait. What?? There's no way this can really be true. There's no way that Nova can be five already, and there's especially no way Val can be a cliche yet!! There's also no way that I've been subbing that long. Somebody is making some stuff up here!! Ok, so the rat thing. Who else, other then a former fire fighter, is going to crawl through that tiny whole in the wall and clean out all that rat poo?? Strong work on that one, Justin. I thought cleaning a pack rat nest out of my grill was revolting enough. And I had 800 degrees of heat to help out! There's no way!! So...let's just say for a minute this story really is true. I can't wait to see what else happens on this channel. It's pretty obvious at this point, Justin is a great story teller, so I guess I'll just keep hanging out waiting to see some great story telling.
I think you're right. There must be some kind of a time warp. It was moments ago that I was writing captions for baby Nova in the firehouse late at night on Imovie for a small RU-vid fan base of mostly just 2AZSUN and Southern Rebel lol! I may be finally going full time RU-vid now so the good news is the adventure is just beginning!
What a special video to share with all of us. Nova is such an amazing girl. You guys have always been the best parents in putting your children first above everything else. Excited to see you all blossom even more in this next chapter!💛
I am sad to find out out this is the end of bus life for you and your family. I'm still in the conversion phase (did a roof raise and still working on the exterior re-paneling, boy is it quite a task to finish). Know you've been a huge huge inspiration for me, extremely helpful and motivating when I'm down (there's been many times I've wanted to throw the towel and I'm only in the beginning phase). I will play any part of your videos just to remind me of what the upcoming future could look like for me and my family. I've noticed many who have been in the bus life for a while have lately called it quits. I understand the hurdles and the reasons make perfect sense but it still saddens my heart. I hope we do come across each other even for a Hi if I make it to the conversion finish line. I still want to experience a glimpse of freedom with my 4 girls (Yup! That's right! All girls from 19 yrs (unless she decides for something else)to 5 yrs old, all homeschooling because it's our best option). Your choice though I completely respect. My kids wellbeing always comes first and completely understand as a parent. We who love our children will do everything and anything for our kids regardless of our own needs so they have a better future and life. I wish you and your family the best, health and happiness.
Hi Nomi. Thank you for understanding and I completely get it. It saddens my heart too when I see other families pack up and sell the bus (we might not be selling our bus, time will tell). It makes me so happy to hear that you get inspiration and encouragement from my videos. I do want to point out though because I see you're anxious about the conversion finish line. There is always the Bluebird Wanderlodge, a motorhome built on a bus chassis that can sometimes be purchased for surprisingly cheap! Not encouraging you to give up or anything, but just putting that on your radar. If you need help from me though hit me up!
I have no ties to my home any more all my Kids have moved away and have families of their own and I want to travel the country and see the things that I have seen before in my travels when I was in the military, I loved traveling all over the place and I really want to build my own schoolie I watched all the videos of you building that bus for your friends and I save almost all of them so that I could see them again. I only have one problem I have a disability of neuropathy from my diabetes but I’m am really getting that under control. I can just hear the road calling me.
This is so awesome! Thank you so much for posting how to videos because I find myself looking and learning from you. On to the next chapter for y’all! Congrats 🎉🙏🏾
I hate to see you leave the life but I think this kind of thing will happen to us all! Peace and Light to you! I remember very well the feelings of letting your kids grow!
The Adirondacks are an amazing place to spend a summer! Living so close to it makes me forget that it is basically my back yard. I have some bus videos I need your help brainstorming!
Sorry to see that your giving up your freedom as this country continues to overpower the education system. What grade do they begin teaching sex education ? ? ?. You will soon find out. Peace and best of luck.
As a former Teaching Asst. in kindergarten (the teacher based her classes on Montessori methods) Nova certainly knows how to articulate her experiences and thoughts better than most children I ever dealt with. I would say the life you decided to live has a lot to do with that. Your wife made me laugh. Yes I saw almost every single Mom do the same thing. We had one stand outside our windows for 15 minutes once.
Lol poor moms on day 1. I think you're right and Nova seems to be at the head of her class. Before they started teaching math they did some standardized testing and Nova is in the 99th percentile for math just from watching Numberblocks (great tv show) and practicing with us. Maybe we'll get back on the road she might learn more lol.
@@MobileDwellings stable house life might be something she needs, and maybe you all need for awhile. The world is a little crazy right now. Who knows what life you may choose/need in 3-5 years. Plus, as you said, you will still have summers. Every single bus life family I follow has gone through major changes this year. I started following your channel when you met up with Kels and Jay.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VwTRjHFkDtk.html you're inside an object that is moving at 10% of the speed of sound, a burst tire would put you at serious risks of all sorts of forces..
Love this video man, Absolutely love it. The little video showing your families moments hit a close spot for me. I have future plans for my girl and I to travel, and I CANNOT wait to make all those amazing memories with her. I don't have many future goals for myself, but traveling the world is one.
Andy this is so full circle for me. During the early conversion days Nova and I used to watch your vlogs while I took care of her during my days off. Watching you finish the bus and the joy and relief in your first days on the road was so enchanting. I think that very first day of seeing you guys go to the beach was the most inspired I've been on RU-vid. I know better than most how challenging being a full time RU-vidr with your family can be and I imagine it got very tough for you but I want you to know that if you were hoping to inspire others to make their dreams come true well you definitely did that for me! Okay now I've gotta go catch up on your new build!
@@MobileDwellings Amazing, yeah definitely the goal is to inspire. I love how you ended the series...wish i was allowed to do the same ;-) Will follow on the rest of the journey.
Devil's Advocate, the travel everyday model for bus life has never been practical or sustainable. A far more practical approach is buying a piece of land and traveling when you wanted to. There's nothing wrong with living in house but there is something wrong with giving up on a dream. "If you look hard enough for an excuse you will eventually find it". The good news is you have the bug and eventually, hopefully it will bite you again. See you down the road 😊
Nova is such a brilliant, articulate, thoughtful person. ❤️❤️❤️ Looking forward to watching whatever is knocking around between your ears unfold. What a beautiful way to start a new chapter. All the best to all of you. 😎👍
Hello from the Upstate …life without change can become a non fulfilling life…life with dreams and aspirations is what we all strive for…looking forward to the next phase of your dreams and aspirations
if you've never purchased an ozone generator, just do it. I've used it in cars, crawl spaces, etc,, it's amazing at killing smells. And they are like 60$ on Amazon!
U are 1 out of tens upon tens of thousands of RU-vidrs that I've seen yet who has put their child's life first. As a parent & grandparent. I would done the same. Today parents put Facebook, RU-vid, Tick Tock and so on before their children. Good Luck on your endeavors. 🙏 🇺🇲
You're right it's important not to do that. I think it comes naturally to many to sort of monetize their children even if it's in the context of family content. But realistically they have no way to consent to that and for many kids I believe later on it will turn out to be the wrong choice for them especially when the financial insentive doesn't turn out to be there.
So bittersweet and adorable. Life by goes by so fast. You guys always have a place to park in the pacific nw, jut hit us up! Our build is coming along slowly but surely :)
I bought a 1996 golden dina and I want to make it like yours. I would love to leave the closest thing to yours to travel with my children and wife. Hopefully I can contact you so that you can give me some recommendations. Greetings from Mexico
congrats! check out skooliesupport.com for over the phone help with electric and solar or hit me up at gilliganphantom@gmail.com if you want to travel to Charleston SC!
Reason # 3 is a massive reason and quite frankly a pretty straight forward decision. Your wife and yourself made the absolute correct choice putting your beautiful little girl ahead of any personal choices. Loved how you mention that Nova was telling you it was time. Cherish all of the incredible memories from the road and don't blink you two, my kids seemed to grow so quickly once they hit school age. Cheers ..... 🍻
big ups for taking the kids needs into account first and foremost. I did Van-life myself for 3yrs. and I had a bad time meeting new friends and finding friendly places to camp. good job :)
I feel you made the right decision for your beautiful, intelligent daughter… wishing you all the best in future years and will definitely keep watching … a gramma from 🇨🇦
To save you 15 minutes the cost of traveling got too high so they called it quits. Also I think school had something to do with it. I wonder what the breakdown of the cost was over 2 years of building and 3 years on the road. At least you had fun I guess. Back to the grind lol.
Just saw this! What a phenomenal video! As touching as any Kodak commercial could ever be! Sorry to hear you're going to be stationary for awhile, but excited for your family in this next chapter. Nova is super-bright and I'm sure loving school. Please keep making videos so we can feel like we're still part of your amazing lives! We still have our conversion ahead of us and will surely have lots of questions! We're removing the inside panels now and a roof raise is in our future. All the best to you!
This was the first video I have watched from your Channel 💙 and I Subscribed. I am here for what is next & to hear how your transition goes! And, for what it might be worth, it sounds like you have sacrificed to give Nova a gift. Making such a sacrifice is what makes you a good man and Dad. Best wishes to your family 💙
Nova has always been expressive, but back in the days when we couldn't comment, it was just mumbling with awesome subtitles. My son is twenty so it's just about the right time to go on adventures with him. Been living in my bus about two years, and next year we finally do the cross country tour.
I’ve got a lot of respect for you as parents and for making your dreams a reality. One dream ends, another one begins. I hope you’ll still share your new life and new journey with us. I feel as if you’re friends I just haven’t met yet. God bless.
Appreciate the sharing of these moments! we have sent three of our kids off to school now, but your experience puts things into another perspective,we can all learn a thing or two about healthy relationships from this episode, everything happens for a good reason, finding the silver lining is key, hopefully the channel has some adaptive content to come,I'm sure it'll be a cool adventure no matter what is going on. Thank you 🙏
So proud of you guys, I HATE watching people with 3 or 4 kids stuck on a bus in the boonies. I tend to think people can choose to live the lives they want, but when you have children its time to make sacrifices to make sure they grow to be great people.
I don't normally sub but I had to. You have a great personality and kt was enjoyable watching you and your family. I smiled and laughed a few times. Great family. Can't wait to see what you build next.
Thanks for subscribing! Most of our videos will not be about our family. They'll be stories about other people living on the road, but you'll definitely get a truck camper build video and more about us as the months go on!
Thank you! Our daughter is in school now but I just spent a week at Skooliepalooza, an unsanctioned bus conversion festival in the desert and it was amazing! We have a lot more fun and travel ahead of us.
Great video Nova is so cute, how was it? It was great did you guys sit out here the whole time? Precious just precious you made the right decision you can jump in the bus whenever you feel the need family comes first in all things and yes I've been there through the school years it's something you will never get back. I'm happy for you all. And please share a video of the finished house.
Thanks! She's doing really well in school but she does miss life on the road and she's very much ahead of her peers so who knows 😜 Okay I'll show off our new kitchen at some point! I did do some interesting built-ins but it's very much a work in progress.
Thank you for welcoming us into your space, and sharing it all with us. You are very talented, and you have a beautiful family. I have been looking at older conversions, I'd really like to have an old 4104 GM charter bus conversion, with the detroit diesel, more for an RV than to live in, but something that we could live in, if we had too, definitely want to travel, and we are raising our grandsons, so it would always be an adventure in a bus. All I have found so far is on one coast or the other, or way up north, and either junk or overpriced. I like them with the factory windows and paint job, not all painted and slapped together, so I may have to buy a seated one, and convert it myself, and that is why I watch your channel. 😎
Thanks for the kind words. The GM PD 4104 is fantastic. I'm a big fan. I saw one being converted by a builder on the coast in Washington State. With a lot of patience you'll find something fantastic.
It's not that sad. As a parent...it's like oh put a hat on your head, it's cold outside. Oh put a mask on your face, there's a pandemic and it might help people from getting sick. Nobody gets pissed off that they had to wear a hat when it turns out the sun comes out and it's a nice warm day. It's literally not a big deal at all.
Sorry that you had the problem with the rats. They can cause major problems and glad that you were able to eradicate them and all of the mess they caused in your home. We had a fruit tree in our yard that had branches that touched the roof and had some fruit rats that ate thru the screen on the air vent and got into our attic. We callled the pest company and got rid of the rats, filled the attic with insulation that was treated with pesticides and rat poison. Also had the fruit tree trimmed and new vermin proof screens which we check periodically and have had no more rats or any insects.
I'm just glad you guys are smart enough you know I think the rad infestation might have been Destiny might have been the universe's way of telling you to get the f*** home cuz your kids are more important than your dreams apparently I mean that's the truth when you are a parent you don't have the luxury of doing this you can't you can't expect your kids to be okay with living in a cramped space every single day of their life I mean you did it the right way because you had a house that you already that you were renting out that was smart a lot of these people aren't doing that a lot of them a lot of people are just very selfish and they just say oh well I'm going to take my kids from a 1500 square foot home and put them in a 350 square foot bus and they're just going to have to deal with it I mean I just think that is incredibly selfish of a lot of these people doing this you know but in your case you guys did it exactly the right way so you should be proud of yourselves that you were able to do it then settle back in to your real lives I mean cuz you can't expect to have a bunch of kids and then just to be able to do that you know kids need social skills that you can't provide when you're when you're uprooting them and when you're doing this kind of s*** you're you're not giving them consistency so it's good that you were smart enough to know better I mean that's that's a really good thing
