@@adelinelyaruu3036 In my understanding, it's the couple being blessed, that is, either a man and woman in the so-called irregular union, or two men or two women in a same-sex relationship with pledged commitment to each other as sexual partners. It is such a couple in the context of their (i.e., two persons comprising the couple) sexual relationship which is the subject of a blessing. They (two individuals) are being blessed together as a couple.
@adelinelyaruu3036 I think their desire to seek God is being blessed. But unfortunately the manner of the situation in which the blessing seems to occur in the scenario of a same sex couple, has created a lot of confusion and disappointment.

Then the church should create the atmosphere for the Holyspirit to manifest. We saw alot of manifestations of the Holyghost in the early church, the shadow of saint Peter healed the sick, the bible records that diverse miracles were wrought by the hands of the apostles, this led to wide spread of christianity as people saw the power of God manifestation. Being born a Catholic, I was made to understand that you get blessed, when you confess and repent of the sins you have committed. Here it goes, since I was little. "BLESS ME FATHER FOR I HAVE SINNED" Afterwhich, the priest gives you his blessing which ends with, "I BLESS YOU IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER. OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT" We ask for blessings to avoid sinning and to be remorseful of the sins we have committed. In this context, I truly donot understand the blessing allowed for same sex couples! Anyone who can help.me understand this kind of blessing. I am from the Philipines, where so many childhood friends of mine have already moved to other beliefs, religion or sects. Thank you.
Hi friend, from the clarification issued by the DDF, it says that if a same-sex couple see a priest at a pilgrimage,shrine or airport they can ask the priest for blessings for e.g a job, sick person and the priest is at liberty to bless the persons so as not to look as if you are blessing the couple. It says such blessings must not be done in church or when the priest is wearing any clothing that looks like a vestments.
We in Africa should stand up and bring the entire Church to embrace our Charismatic culture of Praise/Worship and Prayers. Let us include this culture into the Mass so that the Church may continue to be strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit. I AM AN ADVOCATE OF THIS AND MY CATECHISM STUDENTS ARE GETTING READY TO MEET BISHOPS ON THIS MATTER. WHAT ABOUT YOU?
I'm not Catholic but I'm a firm believer and Christian. We believers should not give the devil even an inch. Nooooo. Christians, stand firm. Stand for Christ. The saints were matyred for less. We need to make a stand. No inch, no quarter given. No matter your denomination, we must take a stand as one. As much as I understand that thw Catholic church is not like the Anglican communion to do as the Church of Nigeria did, we must all be ready when the time comes to take up cross and deny those who want to fall away from the faith.
