We can do this anymore, living in a tent. It can be very exhausting. We decided to get an Air bnb in New York.

I’ve been wondering when burn-out would set in, but then ALL of us face burn-out. That’s why we take vacations, go for long walks, listen to music that soothes us or take time to just breathe. Burn-out happens and, while the image on this video has a rather hopeless air about it, one day at a time. The sun will set tonight and rise tomorrow, even still.

I admire how long you have done tent camping this far. For all the effort it takes to set up and break it down. I started tent camping as a single mom when my son started boy scouts in second grade. scouts camped every other weekend. later when I got married , I even camped with scouts in a tent in a sleeping bag on the ground at 7 months pregnant with my second son with my husband and 1st son. Our family vacations were even tent camping. 9 days long trips. we had our tent, a screen tent over picnic table and a whole outdoor kitchen set up. We used Dutch oven a lot over fire pits. Then my third son came along and we still tent camped, even at a campground that what felt like a hurricane went thru at night. we had a blow up mattress and cots by this point and the blow up mattress was hovering above ground a couple inches. it broke poles off our tent and tore up our screen house. Believe it or not we still tent camped. lol. Then when my youngest son turned about 7 years old we turned to cabins, either rustic(no bathroom or kitchen) or full small house like cabins. I am now 52 years old and need 2 knee replacements. I still love the thought of tent camping and do miss it. But cabins are easier on me now. I think it was a span of about 17 years tent camping between scouts and family vacations. my first born is now 33 years old. Again I admire you and give you props for all the traveling plus tent camping. Good luck in your decision making about your future camping choices. Stay safe and safe travels!

I’ve been full-time for six years in a travel trailer I don’t know how you been in a tent as long as you have. I used to tent camp and that’s what prompted me to buy my first travel trailer I was really tired of sleeping on the ground per se and dealing with teardown set up and tear down. I think he would be making a wise decision to get a hard sided camper so much easier for travel and a lot safer overall. Wishing you lots of luck.❤

So glad you took some time off to get some rest! I don’t even know how y’all do what you do. That’s a LOT of set up and tear down that could be spent doing your kayak camping and cold camping 🥶 Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. We will be right there with you two!! AND, don’t ever feel bad about grabbing an air b&b or motel for as long as you need. It’s kind of like a vacation from your “normal life “, which who DOESNT need a break from! Love you guys 🥰💜

OMG, you’re in my neck of the woods. I live just north of Utica and just at the foothills of the ADK’s. I know the ADK’s and some of their campgrounds. My favorite campground is FishCreek Pond campgrounds. It’s right off of the Upper Saranac lake. Please reach out if you have any questions about the ADK’s. Lake Placid has some great history. The winter Olympics was hosted in LP back in the 80’s. The ski jumps are still active all year long with training. There’s high peaks everywhere. A certain 46 of them are the known to be the highest. When you climb all 46, you’re considered a 46’r.

Tent camping would work if y’all stayed at least a week or two at each location while thoroughly exploring new areas. Burnout was bound to happen with constant moving and all that setup. Have y’all considered a heavy duty tow behind camping trailer or possibly building out a U-Haul truck or something similar? Even a Class A or Class C would feel more like a home. One can usually get a great deal on a secondhand unit especially if buying directly from original owner. I’ve been full-time rv’ing now 23 years in a Class A and can’t imagine giving up my sense of freedom even at 70 yrs old. 🚌

Burn out happens! We used to live in a van and it was a lot of work. We switched to a small travel trailer and it made life so much easier. Having your own shower inside is a game changer. That is a great idea, but we have found out they do not work that well. We know a person who had one on their trailer. It was in their front yard and got stolen. They looked on the app to see where it was. The gps said it was still in their front yard. So we did research and found out that most thief’s now have a tool to jam trackers without even needing to know where they are hidden on the trailer. That is what happed to our friend. We chose to spend our money on the Trimax TWL400 wheel lock, and a Gorilla Guard Coupler lock. We could not afford the monthly fee for better gps trackers. There is one brand out there that is more difficult to jam, but it did have a monthly fee.

Been a tent camper most my life. Grandparents had a campsite up in the Poconos in PA every weekend & vacations. When my grandchildren came along I started taking them emmediatly to learn. I went from tent to pop-up tent. Got a area to stand up and dress. Cooking area, sink, and 2 double beds on either side . We go to campsites here in Virginia. Usually it cost tent site $45. 00 a weekend. They have bathhouse, laundromat, country store incase u need something, all kinds of outside activities, and u can rent a golf cart for the day if you aren't able to walk the hiking trail, ponds to fish, and beautiful sites to b in even larger rigs.

We have our tent but also a camper shell on our Tundra 6' bed. Back seats in the cab roll up for another sleep space and the front seats recline down for a comfy place to chill or sleep. Got a tarp to put over it all as well. We looked at every RVish thing imaginable and decided to keep things simple. Tons of cool RU-vid vids re build outs for truck camping.

Very interesting analysis and comparison of camping options. I know this is boring, but I like an uncrowded campground with a host. Less likely to get robbed. You have an authority to call on if there are unruly campers. You can tell the host you're going to be gone a while so keep an eye on our stuff Campground hosts are underappreciated. I've met some really great ones - that's the majority of them.

Well done on keeping it real. One of the issues with the myriad #...life videos here is that the people who make them are not honest about the reality of living that particular #...life whether it's #vanlife or #4wdlife or whatever. So thanks for not glossing over it. It makes for more compelling viewing and speaks to your trustworthiness. Good luck with the next stage.

I would think Flagstaff you'd be able to camp like you do 2hrs away from a ski hill, parts of California as well (re Kelly Hayes). I guess when you leave for an adventure like that just bite the bullet and stay in a organized campground for trailer security. My vote is keep the trailer and get a pickup with a topper. Its always good to be light when going off road. You'll figure it out. Love the videos.

As I've gotten older, I've realized that tent camping is still fun, but sometimes...I want...a/c. -gasp- I know, the humanity. But sometimes, a few creatures comforts isn't bad. Doesn't mean you gotta go out and grab a 32 ft RV. But maybe something more secure, a little more comfy, as well as still versatile enough to keep the lifestyle you live. I 100% support whatever y'all decide. Just keep on keeping on . Love y'all.

we did the whole tent thing too, traveling through the Smokies etc......set up for a night than take down, set up and down........gets to you! AND like you said, it takes time. Sounds like a truck trailer, would work best for you. You can unload it and drive off, or just leave it on the truck. Perhaps for more room, look at truck campers with slide outs, gives you more room etc.......just make sure that you can get around the inside with the slide outs IN. Looking forward to your next adventures!

If you’re really thinking about getting an RV, I highly recommend anything Forest River. You have a NoBo, somyou know what I mean. I’ve had a small Forest River Sunseeker and loved it, but wanted something a bit more agile. I traded it for a Flagstaff EPro 19BH (also a Forest River) and traded my car for a Chevy Colorado. You wouldn’t need a huge truck and many campgrounds will let you park a small trailer in overflow, if you want to go for a kayak or backpacking trip. I’m really liking mine and have found it really is the best of having a hard-sided home and flexibility. Also, I travel with 2 dogs (50 and 80lbs) and 2 cats, and this small trailer is really, really comfortable. For 2 people, it would be super and you’d still have the maneuverability you have now for sightseeing. I hope you find the perfect option for you.

Hey Kellie and Cody. As y'all know we've been following you guys for almost three years. We loved your vlog when you where weekend warriors like the rest of us, we love it now that you are fulltime, and hope to follow you whatever your next adventure is. You guys inspired us to buy a tent and get back into camping. However, we glamp more that camp, so about a year ago we just got tired of all the setup and bought a tiny camper. As to your next habitat; one thought would be to get a truck with a topper to carry all your gear and actually sleep in the NoBo trailer. That would greatly reduce your setup time while still letting you bring all the toys.

IMO: If you were to go to a truck camper, keep it light. Also, get landing gears on the camper so you can easily remove it to free up the truck do other things. Don't take anyone's word that says, "that's enough truck" and puts you into a 1500. Enjoy.

We all need breaks from our routine . In Arkansas you camped for fun to get away from your everyday routine. Staying in a hotel or some type of lodging is a nice break. Some type of camper in the future would be good because tent camping puts limitations on what type of adventures you guys have and you wouldn't have to leave because of bad weather. But whatever you decide there will be challenges. Don't make any rash decisions. When you go home for the holidays think about what is best for you both. I hope you don't mind me giving my opinion. Enjoy your time up North. Try not to worry too much about your future in the months ahead.

I sold my house. I got 5.5 acres of land by a creek but no home on it. I’m staying in a tent ⛺️ for awhile. So far it’s been very nice being worry free !! No rent, no morgage, no electric bill, you get the point. I’d rather be free than live like a slave just to have a big home to sleep in

HEY We have been Rvers 20+ years. Do NOT get a van. At least get a Class C. We have 140,000 miles on our 2nd Class A. Diesel. A true home on wheels. p.s. we also have 2 homes. But we LOVE the rv life. I am 84. My wife 81. Do not get any type of tent. A Class C with a dry bath at a minimum. Live as a human being. Scrimp on EVERY THING ELSE; but live as a human. We also have a boat at each home. If pressed, we would give up both homes and keep our 40ft Class A. Been in 49 states, much of Mexico and Canada.

So I've noticed before as well as now, Why don't you guys get a 2.5 or 5 gal. Primo jug with the 10.00 pump. It's amazing for Carrying and holding water😍. You guys aren't from my home town. Wow. So cool. Please check out Lake Bluffs Wolcott, NY. Amazing.

Everyone has their opinions, in my opinion the Truck Camper is the best RV for Off Grid Camping. Especially If your going Alaska. Do your research. Don't make the mistake I did, I bought junk.

Truck camper for the win!!! We love ours. We are actually selling our 41’ 5th wheel because our Lance TC is much more flexibility. It is amazing how much can sit in the bed of a truck. 😉 Also, you could still pull your NoBo. Whatever you decide, have fun!!

I only started camping a little over a year ago and have been watching your Channel since then. Although I am not camping every weekend it is a chore setting up and tearing down, especially when you are just doing it for one night. My minimum is 2 night stay and even then I feel that is pushing it. I doubt anyone can blame you for the burn out. I always wondered why you guys did not stay longer on one place but I am sure you have your reasons. Just like you guys, State Campgrounds are not really my thing. I have stayed at quite a few and once I went disperse camping, incidentally it was at one of your spots in Texas, there was no going back. For this reason and the fact that it would be nice to have quicker setup I have been looking at smaller overland trailers such as the square teardrops and some a little more robust. I would like to think that this would be ideal for your guys. As far as theft is concerned, my solution would be to carry power drill and just remove one of the tires from the trailer and put that in the back of my truck and the spare if it had one, when I left. Sounds like a lot of work but with a power drill it should only take about 10 minutes. I have seen several videos on how easy it is to pick the lock on those wheel boots. I am sure by now you guys have looked at lots of options but the one I have pretty much settled on is the Mammoth Trailer. Great turn key package and this coupled with a pickup truck like the Tundra or Tacoma would hold all your stuff, including bikes and kayaks. Just remember it is the low moments that make the high moments so special. Keep on keeping on. Love you guys, all the best.

With all due respect you guys. Thieves do not care if you’re in a tent Or camper. Enjoyed all your camping experiences and your videos but if you do this you’re just the same as everybody else now. Sad … but with every option of camping regardless if it’s tent camping ,RVing ,Gamping, van camping and kayak camping which is great (our favorite). There’s always something your not going to like. We’ve done a lot of different kind of camping over 50 years and we went back to tent camping. Just more options to get into different places. You guys keep it fun be safe God bless.

Most folks take a camping trip as a vacation......makes perfect sense that you take an airBnB for yours! LOL I knew finding camping spots would be challenging on your route If y'all decide to get a slightly more luxurious way to travel, you'll still be a favorite watch for me! *Kelly deserves a princess worthy hot shower

Have you come across GrizzlyNBear, Aussie and french couple traveling the world. The have a flat bed camper. They can take off camper and use and leave it while they explore. Just a thought. This tent business is obviously getting tiresome. You need something better insulated and with heating, Graham from Aussie.

I think you should research a Vandoit van. I like the "LIV" model. You can get a 4-wheel drive van. You can use it mostly for sleeping, but there is plenty of storage too and you can do the basics inside if needed. You would be safe, secure, and warm for sleeping anywhere!

Truck campers are OK for a single person. For 2 people, you have to crawl over each other to get out of bed. A travel trailer is the way to go. My 21 foot trav trlr had 2 39" ( twin) beds, side by side, with walk space between. Ad a board between and you have a king bed for two. And, no trailers that you can't stand straight up in. Those are for masochists! Full 6' 6" headroom. Have a tongue installed that bolts on. I unbolt my hitch tongue and take it with me. 4 bolts. Takes 5 minutes to take off or put back on

Yall are more than welcome to park your trailer at my house and take your kayaks down spring river. Or anywhere around here. You could leave it overnight if yall wanted to go kayak camping around here.

Well at least you have all the tools to camp. I have been outside for 10 years and didn't have any camping gear until the last few years. Now I'm bikepacking. You have a lot of camping luxuries. Maybe I will see ya out. I'm currently in Florida.

Hard side it is! Like you I find the tall/narrow Mercedes vans to be just the wrong size and priced at about 2x for what you get. The right size for full time use is a complete bare box build out on a short schoolie, but the school bus was designed to take kids a few miles home before they complain about having their tailbones beaten up! There is no way it will last 250k in Mexico or Alaska. What most people don't realize is that ambulance boxes are 102" wide so you can build the bed in back sideways which makes it seem twice as wide as a Sprinter. Check out a 450 series box. Lift it 4" and put good tires on it and you will not miss 4wd. And they are built to last twice as long as most RV's. The key is finding the right builder for the conversion. The end result should cost less than half that of a all out 4 wheel drive Sprinter. Of course your friendly banker probably will turn up his nose at it, so bring cash. Should you decide to continue with the tent meme, take another look at a bell tent. My 16' Stout feels like a small apartment alongside yours. A nicer space than any small RV . It is a true four season tent compared to your leaky two season tent. Families have wintered in the UP of Minnesota in one. It is a single pole design with double wall construction, so the set up time is about the same. You can cook inside on a wood stove or your 2 burner propane cook top, set up an office, etc. Cost? About the same as two sets of tires for a dually RV. Heavy, especially when wet. Should you decide to target week long campsites instead of moving all the time it might keep you grounded in the canvas world! By the way I could show you a choice of 50 campsites within a 100 mile radius of Jackson Hole where you could spend an entire summer without paying a campground fee. .

That's how I feel about the pop-up camper that I bought. You always have to pull out the end's bedrooms. An annual purge away. You have to go around in about 3 times tucking it back in as you drop the rough and it's pain in. Rear when you're doing it by yourself

Please look at the Cirrus truck campers. They are amazing 4 season and high quality from a manufacturer that cares beyond the warranty. The fluid heating, windows, roof access and rugged bumper are brilliant. Unique and superior to the same old brands. Cirrus ! If your kayaks are short you might be able to mount them upright on the back and not rooftop. Y’all are deserving of a change and the timing is right. Over

Truck camper topic, just my opinion here for food for thought. If 4x4 is important to you, a Truck camper on a regular wheel base is not safe off road as I think you envision 4x4, in this case a modest size Truck camper on a dually 4x4 is your best bet for true 4x4 experience. OR the pop up Truck camper. In Alaska they build a Truck camper that raises and lowers with hard sides. Wish you guys the best
