This is a contest that draws the creativity and ingenuity of the Flite Test community to design radio control aircraft and models inspired by Red Bull Air Race.
A beautiful Red Bull themed Edge 540 aircraft (like Andres’s) would not be turned away from the competition but we are looking for more creative entries! Entries that answer questions like:
- What would a Red Bull Air Racer look like in the golden age of
aviation?
- What does the air racer of the future look like?
- How could you make an air race pylon fly?
- Could you 3D print an “invisible” or transparent air race model?
The more creative the design the better! However, those who document their process thoroughly with VIDEO, AUDIO, PHOTOS, and written material will have an Edge over the competition.
How to enter:
- Create something that flies with the theme “Red Bull Air Race”
- Submit an article on flitetest.com detailing your build process.
- Include any photos and build plans and AS MUCH VIDEO AS POSSIBLE. Think of it like you’re making your own Flite Test episode.

Stop by FliteFest Ohio and showcase your creation with Red Bull! (Optional/will not affect your chances of winning)
Winners will be announced on or before August 15, 2018.

I've been flying 3d and building 3d profile planes for over a year now... this is pure awesome. Me and Andres are probably around the same age, it would be sick if we could throw down together sometime.

Hank Hasemeier look for them in about a week and a half from now. The release video sgoyld be out this week and the build video later this week. The plans aren't finished yet and will be available after flite fest.

Wahoo thanks guys finally got my Founders coin it looks great it's heavy I don't know what you made it out of but it's super heavy I like it it's wonderful I just wish I could afford to go to flights best I just want to fix the income I can't afford it but hey you guys have a blast I'll be thinking about you and trying to come up with something to build thanks again keep making these great videos

What are the specs of this plane? Incredible amount of thrust! (AUW, wing area, electronics, prop, energy consumption/efficiency, etc etc?)

Unfortunately the fastest plane I made can only go 10 km/h any faster and it will probably break because of the poorly supported front wings.

Always looking to the future and for the best hearts, servants, designers, and pilots. Andres hits all those boxes and we are blessed to have him on the team. The FT family deserves to see and be inspired by the best. I’ll always be looking for people better than myself to keep FliteTest moving forward. Never planing to retire, but I will take a back seat sometimes so others can shine. Can’t express how blessed I feel to be part of this great team and this awesome flying family! JB

Big ups to Andres, not only for designing such a beautiful foamie , but also for totally ripping the "Stuff" out of it in the air. A 3d pilot designing a 3d foam aircraft is what that side of the hobby has needed for years. I will be purchasing a kit as soon as they hit the FT store. Keep up the excellent work everyone at flight test!

Awesome, guys! I would love to enter in the competition, but... I never made a rc airplane yet, can't even fly the micro brushed quad I built yet... (But I'm training on Liftoff!) And, the main problem: I'm from Brazil. 😕 So... Who knows, maybe in the future. 😊

It's fine (for living outside of the US), their video description says that all we have to do is submit a detailed article on their website. I don't live in the US either and have never (finished) building an RC plane (yet) so I can relate :)

Just build my first one, couldn't fly it (my problem, not the quad's), so I'm practicing in Liftoff... And working in other projects for my channel. 😊

Ok, good luck on learning how to fly. My advise (I'm not that good but this is what I learned from my mistakes): Be very gentle/sensitive on the controls: no matter what. congrats for 4,00 subs BTW ;)

In case you are still searching for new challenges for videos: Fly a Plane in true third person. Here is how it goes: You get one of your great drone chasepilots tofly behind the plane the plane pilot will be controlling BUT he has to do it through the view of the chasing drone.Should be easy to get to FPV goggles receiving the same signal right? So try doing some crazy 3d this way. Not sure this works, but the crash footogae would be great :D Greatings from Germany, have fun and keepup the awesome stuff.

Hey im fairly new to rc and im struggling to understand and charge the lipo batteries without destroying them its starting to upset me as i cant get it right! and im now waisting money, can you do an in depth video of how to charge and maintain batteries properly!? i hope red bull still wants to put on the rc race, they posted in local indy groups last year saying gasers with smoke trail needed. would loooove to see electrics, mostly foamys though get into the action. cant wait to see the show and met you guys in october!

I want to see a Gee Bee, a fast, original air racer that was underused due to how dangerous it was to fly. Basically a huge engine inside of a fuselage with tiny wings!
